Whether it is a scam or not depends on how you view it. I've got 100+ hours in Bellwright and I think I paid $30 for it (maybe $40, can't remember). Either way, 100 hours for that amount of money is a very good deal as the entertainment industry goes. As it stands now, you can play the game through and liberate the map, which is basically the gameplay loop, so in my eyes that makes the game more or less complete (and that alone takes a bit of time, unless you cheese the mechanics a fair amount). I would have never ever spend a penny on game at any stage of development, if I was not sure that at this stage I am getting a content that is worth of actual price at the time. The problem is the people that are not educated, nor aware of the extorting and manipulation mechanics widely implemented into any given aspect of every day life, hugely into marketing. P.S. I appreciate it every time someone is trying to warn others about some possible scam. P.S.S. The game at the moment (31.08.24) is really, really enjoyable, sophisticated and stable, providing one likes "clumsy" Mount&Blade derivative of combat system and slow paced grinding. There are new options, that let everyone to very fluid adjustment of difficulty, from very, very easy and fast (speed up experience, boost to damage and such) to very hard (nerfed damage and skill gaining and such).

Last oasis wan’t abandoned, by all accounts it was technically stolen from them, they did business with a group that essentially stole all the profits from the game essentially bankrupting the company, the people they did business with essentially owned the game but without any backlash if anything went wrong, they had to leave it.

Righ now it has more content than Bannerlord or Medieval Dynasty. It is not perfect, but it's evolving, and it has more to do than games wich were already released.
Last Oasis was an amazing idea and you've hit the nail on the head about the general sentiment with Donkey Crew games. That's why I'm hesitant to try Bellwright. Fear of abandonment or lack of development.
I think its a great game in current state. Reminds me a lot like Life is Feudal, big single player. As it is now it has a lot of hours of gameplay, I'm sure they go ahead with its development as it getting a lot of positive feedback and has a load of potential. Its well worth the purchase as the devs ae going to throw a money maker like this for a long time.
My two cents, the previous two games had flaws that the developers were not able to overcome. They had potential but I just think they did not have the expertise to fix what was wrong. Last Oasis was a good game but I think tying to mostly pvp was problematic. Same could in some degree be said with their first game. There has to be more to a game for it to take hold. They never gave either that "more". Bellwright at least seems to be headed in the right direction at the moment. Pvp is not getting in the way. What I have played of it I like but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. I would love to play it with a couple of friends and see how that goes. We shall see.

Theres a lot more than 30-40 hours. The game takes that long just to work out all the mechanics. Your judgement on this is premature as you have hardly played the game at all.
Yeah. I am now 26 hours in (or so STEAM tells me) and I have two followers, just found Bradford, have almost researshed everything in tier 1, and I haven't even liberated the starting village. Maybe I am just slow ... but I think this guy is just full of it.

I did not bought the game not because the team who created it but I do not need any new collecting game at the moment. I bought last oasis with a large discount but that game had some good ideas and potential, they reworked the game once then abandoned. I have some games in my inventory on Steam that was abandoned (there is Starforge) what I got for 3-4 dollar max but the game is a great example of how abandoned games exists. There is also a scifi type base builder game with robots which also was abandoned by another team. There is fragmented, Project Genome which are also abandoned or very slow development had. On indie side there are more but some games does not meant to be fully finished but released in a state to earn money and experience. There is also a lot of video on the topic how much indie dev fail to deliver games and how many games gets abandoned after the first year. I hope once I can start making games I will have enough patience and willpower to finish them. There are other studios whom directly doing these kind of games where they make a half baked or low quality game but in exchange they make dozens of it.
completly irrelivant but damn did not expect resonant to look so good ;) some modders are working on an open world mod for bannerlord like persistent kingdoms but way bigger and diffrent time period
Confirms my suspicions. I'll be removing it from my follow. Maybe, I'll come back in a few years, and see if it's a finished product. Their intentions might not be bad -- necessarily. However, their development habits, and community interaction leave much to be desired. You don't reward those kinds of behavior, with consumer time and resources. Plenty of other games and devs doing more with less. The market is a big, big place.
From what I've seen, it doesn't appear to be a great execution. However, the depth and scope and COHERENCE of the game design is what I wanted from Bannerlord. Bannerlord feels like the skeleton of a game. This feels like the flowery facade without any meat.
Ppl dont get it. Go cmplain about his game hours even if he points out the chance to never release v1.0 is 100% by previous games they made. I would be frustrated too and wouldnt over invest in the game. Please waste more money on cash grab devs without wondering why they never finish.
Of course you're not entirely wrong, BUT they made a crucial mistake twice with Kings and Men and Last Oasis (I didn't play the first one myself, but I did play Last Oasis): (Open) PvP is something hardly anyone wants (anymore), especially not in an MMO like Last Oasis! Open PvP is certain death for any "real" MMO! Unless you can survive with a few 100 players in an extreme niche. Bellwright now is different, away from the PvP focus and is therefore to be evaluated differently. Of course, that doesn't mean that they won't leave it and stop development.
I stayed away because the communities of that game is treating people pretty badly. Also the game is average at best with major issues in some areas. AI companions which you need to "win" battles are useless since you will have to face the walking simulator (they cannot teleport/ fast travel)
Give it 12mths and its an abandoned game. Ofc they do quick constant updates on release of a game. Its not until 12mths or so where those updates become longer and longer or no longer at all.
You're skepticism is warranted but you are lying that this game is delisted and you need to understand that most game devs fail when making games, its a miracle of kings and men/oasis even got any attention/sales. Being a games dev usually involves failures, small success and maybe 1 big win. I would rather place my money in these smaller devs pumping out games that few other companies even make than AAA devs. And yes I bought of kings and men, last oasis and bellwright.
It was about loosing rights to OKaM too. I think that they found their niche and better development strategy than multiplayer full lobby. It still can have even some OKaM aspects. I think that they have talent. Full multiplayer game in early is more dificult to manage. Fighting is good, AI is good. They can do many things. It's better than I expected. Games are actually very cheap for fun. Try to go on fair. I wish them success. There is no alternative to what they are trying to do with directional more serious fight. I am OK with that. I think that plans are more likely achievable in this solo/co-op model and they want reputation back.
Have you even watched the video? He wasnt talking about the game primarily, he is criticizing the developers (rightly so) for abandoning 2 of their games before it left the early access phase and not delivering what they have promissed.
30-40 hours, you must be playing this like a Korean starcraft pro player. Edit: i see at the end you admit you only played 3 hours. you should play it more before announcing how many hours of content there is. if you play solo you have hundreds of hours of stuff to do if you play as a 4 man you might be done in 60 hours ... maybe
It's an amazing game, but only if it was online. The coop is so bad and not worth playing. So if they're not gonna implement mmorpg online mode in the game, then it's not worth playing, I prefer bannerlord instead.

Also Dark and Ligth, i bought the game and played a little only to see a grindy gameplay and hollow concepts of mechanics never done. That game was also abandon so the cout is : abandoned games 3 - 1 work in progress
last update was august its now October its not looking good starting to feel like they've abandoned this game too if thats the case they need to be banned from steam
Last oasis wan’t abandoned, by all accounts it was technically stolen from them, they did business with a group that essentially stole all the profits from the game essentially bankrupting the company, the people they did business with essentially owned the game but without any backlash if anything went wrong, they had to leave it.
Aha! No you're not a stone.
I haven't played this because I played Last Oasis.
its so much better than LO
@@basbruynzeel6614 they're most likely not talking about the quality of the game but the fact that the devs abandoned it. I definitely agree with them, and hope they finish Bellwright. Would be a first
I absolutely love this game. I got absolutely sucked in the moment I started.
I'm satisfied with what I have received from bellwright. 50 hours in so far, haven't even really gotten deep into the game yet. If they don't finish the project it will be sad, but I won't be upset about it
I w3as extremely hesitatnt due to it being DK ,But so far there has been very frequent updates and the game is very enjoyable .Also 30 hours is fuck all in this game still be in tier one and lucky if you liberated the first town.
The best thing about Of Kings And Men is the theme song.
Righ now it has more content than Bannerlord or Medieval Dynasty. It is not perfect, but it's evolving, and it has more to do than games wich were already released.
I was thinking about this game. But then I saw gameplay... I think there is lot of work and polishing that need to be done. Even for early access.
so if you were thinking about it and havent tried you have no place to be commenting on it.
@@toonarmy8524 you already paid for a land ?

Just the word snail games is enough to put me off
Fair stance to take.
Spent the entire video not talking about the game. Wow
Last Oasis was an amazing idea and you've hit the nail on the head about the general sentiment with Donkey Crew games. That's why I'm hesitant to try Bellwright. Fear of abandonment or lack of development.
You forgot to mention Snail Games, the publisher of Bellwright. They are much worse than the Donkey Crew.
thank you for this information. i usually like EA games, but in this case i`ll wait for 1.0
I think its a great game in current state.
30 40 hrs your full of it I have 130 hrs and only have two towns liberated for 30 bucks this game offers more then most I played look at bannerlord when it came out it wasn't that great and it still needs work
Was this meant for the second channel?
Could have said all of that in 60 seconds what a waste of my time.
He is not trained monkey to guess and talk in the manner that pleases everybody. He just communicates in the way, he sees fit.
You could have not comment at all and save my 45 seconds replaying to your words...
I’m playing this game, and enjoying it. It has faults for sure. In saying that, I have respect for your opinion, and sure will take it in. Is nice to see someone giving some honest facts. I to hope the game gets finished, but we’ll have to see. You are not criticising the game, quite the opposite. Thanks for your thoughts, harsh criticism is not warranted 🇦🇺
I think I got my monies worth so far...I've paid more for less than this that aggravated me to no end from AAA studios...
All that means is you dont know the value of a dollar. Aka u r spoiled.
the game got de-listed??
no
KING AND MENS
i love bell wright
reminds me of Reign of Kings abandonment.. if devs have a history of abandoning games, Im out
Theres a lot more than 30-40 hours.
Having played it for 2, maybe 3 hours and trashing it like that just makes you seem bitter with the past releases and not even giving it a shot.
Morelike he's wary to not promote stuff that might end up turned into quick cash grab by sketchy dev like the 2 prev titles
@@namelessone9941 there is a difference between not promoting and trashing a game without actual knowledge about it
@@domno286 did i accidentally skip ahead and missed the trashing part in the vid?
Iirc when i watch this earlier, the only negative stuff in the vid was just things about dev prev sketchy projects, like its more of critic of the dev rather than the bellwright itself
So...we just pirate it and wait for the full release to buy it. got it :D
completly irrelivant but damn did not expect resonant to look so good ;) some modders are working on an open world mod for bannerlord like persistent kingdoms but way bigger and diffrent time period
Thanks for the video.
Jesus christ be praised. I haven't seen your face in forever. Beard looks good.
…..you call that a beard? No wonder you believe in Jesus…
….Both are nonexistent
Are you kidding that's not a beard it's just got of bed and not shaved :)
130hrs in, love the game, worth twice the price.
hell no, boycott Donkey Crew, refund my money for the games i bought from em, and THEN we can talk, Scammers.
Last Oasis was really cool too bad I can't find anyone to play it with
It was about loosing rights to OKaM too.
Lol 30 40 hours.
I have 120 and I'm no where near done.
Don't listen to this clown.
The game is great.
Well we will laugh at you, clown, when the game gets abandoned in 6 months
Have you even watched the video? He wasnt talking about the game primarily, he is criticizing the developers (rightly so) for abandoning 2 of their games before it left the early access phase and not delivering what they have promissed.
You say you played 20-30 hours and then at the end you say you played only 2-3 hours.
1:26 he never stated playing it that long he mentioned that there's about that much in content
30-40 hours, you must be playing this like a Korean starcraft pro player. Edit: i see at the end you admit you only played 3 hours. you should play it more before announcing how many hours of content there is. if you play solo you have hundreds of hours of stuff to do if you play as a 4 man you might be done in 60 hours ... maybe
1:26 he never stated playing it that long he mentioned that there's about that much in content
It's an amazing game, but only if it was online. The coop is so bad and not worth playing.
So if they're not gonna implement mmorpg online mode in the game, then it's not worth playing, I prefer bannerlord instead.
bro yeah everybody saying oh no they abondend the last oasis game bla bla.. bruh the player basis died and then they slowed down the development.. till this day they are having one dev working on updates! i dont understand the point of they just aboundend it. just give them a chance with there new game..
Well who cares when there's more precedencing matters such as what games?????????????
If you did your research the last oasis was put on a back burner because they were losing to much money but do plan to return but maybe you should become a real gamer and play a game for what it is and not what it could be bellwright is an amazing game how about you make a game and keep updating and don’t run out of money let me know when it releases you have 2 years
10 mins to of my life I won’t give back listening to rubbish.
30 - 40 hours? Have you even played this game?
... this is just a carbon copy of last oasis but without the pvp
I dunno who you are but are you okay? Lol
This video shows you not being able to understand the decisions made by the Donkey Crew - but what is then your Honest Truth?
You hope and you expect and you are sceptical - where is the promised truth?
It seems as if you are doing the same thing as the Donkey Crew does in your opinion, no?
you didnt even really talk about bellwright
The AI voices just drove me nuts. I had fun except for that. Started playing soulmask and aska. I'll check it out after a few updates.
