I agree with the spiritualism point. I feel like something is missing in Medieval Dynasty without it. As a fan of Kingdom Come Deliverance, I hope they add something. Maybe just having a small monestary or perish would be enough.
Since the game is based mostly on western slavic settlements I think it would be so cool to have christianity with slavic pagan elements, picturing times of early christianisation of slavic pagans, where people are a little bit confused, and pray to christian god, but also participate in old slavic traditions (for example burning or drowning marzanna doll by the children during spring equinox, it's a purely slavic tradition that has nothing to do with christianity, and the church wanted to get rid of that throughout the centuries, though people still celebrate it to this day in Poland)
@Sir Jaywalker you also forgot to mention tho sengoku dynasty you can build multiple villages and name each one als if i am not mistaken sengoku last update added ability to marry and have heir and even send them to school or have them taught in the way of the warrior and if i am not mistaken i read you can now play as your heir
I like this assessment. I have both games and have really enjoed the designing and customization in Medieval dynasty. ( I drop a lot of items to place everywhere) but even though I can't do that as easily in Sengoku I am a fan of the indoor customization more in that game. Really hoping MD catches up on that front

Fantastic and thorough analysis, @SirJay. I agree with many of your points, and feel like that Dev team on MD has gone the wrong direction with the forthcoming update, based on what seems to be the majority of players' desire (don't really increase the combat aspect of the game). I completely agree that MD could improve their Skill development tree which would increase specialization and stretch out the upgrade time (Production alone should have five distinct lines for Hand-Crafting, Woodworking, Cooking, Sewing, and Smithing - and some of those could have sub-categories.). Also, I think it's worth taking a look at other period games (Farthest Frontier) to improve realism aspects of the game and to provide purpose to under-utilized elements in MD (food spoilage being almost 2 years, for example. Meat along should perish after a couple of seasons - unless it's dried, smoked, or salted... And THUS there would be a REASON to gather salt from the mines). Plus I've long been an advocate for incorporating Filth, Disease, and Pestilence in MD like you see in FF. This would give more reason to staff the Herbalist's Hut and make potions, create the need for a village doctor/healer (and supporting structure - which is already IN the game with the Sick House on Oxbow), and job positions like nightsoil collector to scoop the poop and improve villager happiness/reduce pestilence/disease. Shared... and I hope a lot of people watch this! Great job!
I think both games are fun in their current state, but both would also benefit from major improvements. I love these types of games and one day it'd be really nice to see all of these small devs bands together and make one large, complete game. Too much to hope for, I know, but a guy can dream.
I just love medieval Dynasty so much myself but I know others like Sengoku. Would like to see Churches and the like enter MD as that could be a neat way to section off some villages. So honestly I just think the 2 needs to get married and stop avoiding the inevitable 🤣. Just what we need. A MD + SD baby.
Sengoku dynasty has a ton of glitches at the moment, so I'm def like MD much more right now. SD has this glitch that loses my items when transferring to storage.
I can see Sengoku becoming the better game over time, but the frequent crashes are too big an issue for me. When they fix those issues, they've got an all-time classic on their hands.
7:50, you're not biased. I prefer Feudal Japan over Medieval Europe, but I agree Medieval Dynasty looks better. Sengoku Dynasty just isn't putting out yet. The graphics are horrible compared to many other free games.

I suspect Sengoku will make some progress on your frustrations over the next few years and that this comparison will be much closer in that time. EDIT:: HA, you made this point at the end of your video. Kudos.
Sengoku is a good game, but needs optimization...I have 10 fps in populated areas no matter what video settings I use, low, mid, high... and my video card is stuck at 30% usage
I played Sengoku Dynasty and got bored half way of the game after liberating most regions and having population around 80, the games feels bland to me. mean now all I do now is just making my village pretty and thats it. nothing more.
What you mean "two devs"? I thought it's the same dev? So basically it's coming to sengoku dynasty have more of everything. Thus some problems. Though, I hope they'll be fixed. I have to disagree with the progression system. In medieval, it made sense as you had to do the tasks that you were getting better at. In sengoku, you have to build a random bridge and suddenly that makes you able to make certain tools in iron , while others are still bronze but you have a steel weapon or two from other arbitrary unlocks. Its very gamey and makes no sense in the world.
Agree to disagree. Doing the same tasks over and over to progress is not as fun as doing objectives. Doesn't really make sense that cooking food unlocks the ability to make iron tools or armor either. I think a blend of both crafting and objectives would be the best of both worlds and make the game more fun! If it's more fun and engaging, idrc if it makes sense or not. It makes no sense that kids cant work/contribute until they're 14 and that religion is non-existent in the game, (I could go on) but that's how it is.
Sure, waiting for villagers to farm up ten million points to unlock the mill was nit the most engaging, but still the progression could be made more logical. Right now they slapped the liberation mechanic on existing quests and reshuffled the unlocks. What I think we need in sengoku is reimagine the liberation as quests tied to the production or expertise to be gained from people of that region. This would make it less arbitrary. It would also need to be rebalanced so when you unlock iron metallurgy, you wouldn't be randomly unable to make one set ot tools just because game says so.
IMHO, Sengoku dynasty is too buggy at the moment. My items oftentimes get deleted when transferring to the general storage. It’s a beautiful game and I love it otherwise.
Is there even a SINGLE UE5 game that doesn't run like absolute dong? They also don't look that much different or better than UE4. At some point it's not the devs it's the engine...
"Is Sengoku Dynasty BETTER Than Medieval Dynasty?" 100% better. i just got both last week. and MD looks too much loke Skyrim (15+ years old) and the map is not as pretty as SD. SD is so easy to learn for a new player, MD so confusing. Like you said, MD is 4 years old SD 1. To give SD a fair review, you should not play MD the next 3 years, don't do any updates when you play it in 3 years and then compare them! ;-) But hey, you are bias towards MD, so that is that. :-) Thx for the vids you make, and a like for me!
@SirJayWalker thing I always tell people with any Mount and Blade game is to play the mods. The base game is ok, but the modding community makes it shine. Bellwright has a similar combat system...I am hoping that game keeps getting worked on because I think it could be better than Medieval Dynasty...depending on Medieval Dynasty expands it's combat. Right now, I'd say Medieval Dynasty is a better game, but it needs more combat challenge.
And also Bellwrights combat needs tweaks, such as enemy should be able to destroy fences. I solo defended every raid by building a fence triangle and shooting said raid to death. I hope all these games do well because I love this genre.
Medieval Dynasty is doing things right. Sengoku Dynasty is like the little brother of tried to copy their older brother and made garbage. It would be better if Medieval Dynasty developers made Sengoku Dynasty.

The character creator in Sengoku is so bad. They really said "all Asians look the same so no need for more than 3 options for anything"
Looks like Bellwright
Medieval Dynasty released way before Bellwright, but I enjoy both games!
I pay thee tax of 1 like
IMHO, Sengoku dynasty is too buggy at the moment. My items oftentimes get deleted when transferring to the general storage. It’s a beautiful game and I love it otherwise.
Both are excellent games. Still, both games lack a good story.
Is there even a SINGLE UE5 game that doesn't run like absolute dong? They also don't look that much different or better than UE4. At some point it's not the devs it's the engine...
True true, only other game i play using UE5 is the SMITE 2 Alpha and their CEO resigned recently 🙃
I prefer medieval dynasty because it's the only one on xbox 😅
medieval needs to be reworked. i put in so many hours but put the game down because of the garbage way in which you unlock technology. way too grindy.
I suggest you get your eyes checked. MD looks much better than SD, all the characters look plastic in SD.
I can't stand souls like combat...too arcade. Bannerlord has the best melee combat system...any medieval game should be directional combat.
I respect it. I need to play Bannerlord more, but it hasn't hooked me yet.. maybe one day 😅
@SirJayWalker thing I always tell people with any Mount and Blade game is to play the mods.
@@SirJayWalker the thing that hooked me in Bannerlord was Scenarios. and it is enhanced by massive loads of mods
Medieval Dynasty is doing things right. Sengoku Dynasty is like the little brother of tried to copy their older brother and made garbage. It would be better if Medieval Dynasty developers made Sengoku Dynasty.
Sengoku iits a half made game. not even worth it playing it go ahead and buy medieval dynasty.
Europe historically can’t compare to Asia and or the Middle East so why should gameplay get expired by those historical events
Souls like combat is trash
Git gud
underrated video
