St. Ignatius of Loyola in his book, The Spiritual Exercises, no. 218-225 asks the retretants to contemplate How Our Lord Appeared to Our Lady.

This can be understood from the very nature of God as LOVE and in the mystery of the Incarnation. Our Mother was with the Lord from the womb to the tomb. Her love for the Son was total. Now how is it reasonable to deny that the Lord would overlook this love!!! Impossible!!!. Hence it is absolutely human to understand this. If the Risen Lord should go to anyone, first it must be to the one who loved Jesus unconditionally. Mary did that.
According to any witness, the witness of your own relatives are leagally less accepted. Moreover, the Evangelists were providing us with the witnesses that are reliable to anyone. Not denying, therfore, the Lord Appeared to many, but recorded whay is rationally more appealing to the readers and hearers.
If Our Lord could hide Himself from His mother, He would not prove Himself to THE SON.
