That was just plain nice of you to let that kid plug his channel and talk to him like that. You are one of the best in the game, my friend, and that's the reason why. The antique store and pizza place were amazing. If I still lived in Illinois, I'd be on my way there now. Oh and that was an apple pie tree. I remember having one in the McDonald's by me in the 70s.
OMG! That young man was nice to hear from talking about the trains❤️
Another fun day. The schoolhouse pizza was my favorite. If I was kid I'd be begging my parents to go everyday. Amazing collection.
ROOOOAD TRIPPPP! 🙌 🚗 That boy made the entire video. He's a future videographer 🎥 sooo adorable!
I’ve lived in Joliet all my life and I never knew we had a museum, I just knew we had a weird obsession with blues brothers and route 66
Good trek. Loved that old pizza place and all the other stops.
The decor at that pizza place was amazing!
That pizza restaurant is amazing!
Ty Jacob for showing the Valparaiso Indiana part of Lincoln Hwy
I love all the trains. I love trains!
The bear that sold beer ... I believe it was Hamms beer!
That bear was my grandfather's favorite mascot.
Hamm's has a Bear, but that was the Coors Beer Wolf 😎🍺
The pizza looked so good. And that place was amazing. That train kid was so cute. Can you imagine in a few years how many more RUclipsrs there will be? It is going to be come a legitimate job i think. Something fun to do. And Jacob you are one of the best and pioneers 😁👍🏼
Loved this video Jacob. You are so awesome for taking us with you and seeing the sights just please stay safe.I went and subscribed to the little train lover. I grew up beside the railroad and loved the sound at night.
Keep up the awesome videos 💞
That Old School Pizza looks AMAZING!! I'd totally be at home there amongst all the pop culture goodness! It puts the local Pizza place right outside the backdoor of my apartment to shame... I am enjoying your road trip videos so much! Stay safe, Jacob 🙂
Omg I randomly came across this video. Old school is 10 mins from me!!
Another great road trip. Loved that pizza parlor. Have you ever been to one of those pizza places where a train brings you your food? Think there's a few of them in the midwest but forget the name of the place.
I also love McDonald's nostalgia, that was an apple pie tree from the McDonaldland playgrounds of the 70's.
Frtz's here in Kansas City. Trains still run daily!
I think it's so cool that you can name everything,my brain way behind yours, lol!Thank you for these videos,so interesting and so much fun!!
Hey Jacob! So glad you got to visit your hometown. I hope that my husband and I can go in a road trip someday. The old lady figure in the pizza restaurant is Maxine. I’d like to see the Kool-Aid Discover the Dream Museum, and the Bigfoot Crossroads of America Museum in Hastings, Nebraska. Safe travels! Thanks for sharing your road-trip.
I watch these every night before bed and I’m loving going on this trip with you! I live in Canada so it’s neat to see the States from this perspective.
From one Valparaiso Indiana resident to another Valparaiso Indiana resident ty for sharing
He needs to come back for popcorn fest
I love Albanese candy, didn't know it was from Indiana.
If you’re from here it annoys you lol
@@ryanvance5554 I'm from Detroit
@@susanboatman7913 I live ten minutes away from the factory, place gets bigger and bigger every year, it’s a HUGE eye sore
@@ryanvance5554 I'm sorry, Meijer the grocery store I shop at carries them. They maybe expanding to cover Meijer orders.
@@susanboatman7913 their candy is literally everywhere! When I go to other states stores slap their label on them and sell them as their own but it’s funny we know it’s their candy because of the A’s on gummies Seen in california , Tennessee, Texas, florida, everywhere . They’re turning into a huge corporate place like Hershey and what not.
This series is really making me want to take the Lincoln Highway all the way out West, and then take Route 66 all the way back east.
Really enjoyed this fun video with so much to explore and see! 😄 All those gummies looked lovely and I remember those candy cigarettes! The Joliet Museum was cool and seeing that delicious pizza has made me crave a big pizza now! 🍕😍 Thanks Jacob for brightening my day and best wishes ☀️
I remember having the candy cigarettes that were kind of like chalk and another kind that were bubble gum and blew powder smoke
@@christophermichael.w.7577 Yes I remember the chalky type ones but haven't seen them in a long time
Awesome day today love the pizza 🍕🍕🍕 and the 🚂🚃🚂🚃 exbits were so amazing love your old home town you find the most wonderful things and places the little buddy who loves 🚃🚂🚃🚃 was so much fun 😊😊😊😊 see you tomorrow 💐😘🌞
Thanks for your videos. For me i tend to open up and just talk when i drive in long trips so if there's nothing to do maybe there's something to say?
Wow this was like a Twilight Zone episode where you get to meet your younger self and discuss vlogging 101. What a great episode! Safe travels....
The Blues Brothers is my FAVORITE movie! I would love to visit this place!! -Courtney 📍
Loved this, the Lincolnway thing reminds me of this road we have in the UK called the Great North road, while not aslong as we are quite literally smaller than most US states it goes from the south right up into Scotland as was the main road to London for centuries, while now some parts are disconnected as it was turned into the A1M you can see it's history in the streets it used to pass through with the Old Inns and coachhouses.
I loved the Pizza place massively and the Candy dispensers (I hope you remembered your Gumball from the sword fighters and the machine in Scotts would've been in my hands in seconds) and the tour of Scotts as these are my kinda places, so Uncle Carpetbagger where to next?
Hey, hello fellow Brit! 👋
Awesome Work Bro, Thanks 👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Thanks Jacob. Have a great day!
That antique store and the pizza place looked awesome! 🤩
Awesome hearing Elvis "In the ghetto" and the Partridge Family " I think I love you".
Did the kid have a channel or website? Loving the travel across the Lincoln Highway. Sorry we missed you in Canton
123 Trains on youtube
@@angelajones3131 did this channel change its name. I can’t find it but would like to subscribe to support him.
@@jeffdeluca9089 Still see his channel & no change
@@angelajones3131 idk I searched for 123 Trains and even filtered to channels but I don’t see it. Thanks for responding.
The pizza place is amazing, thank you for taking us! That kid is cool, he might grow up to do what you do. The old lady figure sitting down is Maxine!
I love your videos, thanks for sharing.
The things in the Mcdonalds tree are apple pies. It's an apple pie tree😂
Absolutely love the road trip videos ❤️
Ive been watching your videos for a couple of years now, and I'm just finding out we're from the same town! Pretty cool.
Crud, I was hoping to see you Downtown in Valpo! Enjoy your trip!
I am loving this road trip so fun!
I must give you all the kudos you deserve. I could never undertake such a trip, unless I used a rental and flew back. I would find the trip to SF great, but to drive back? That is where I would loose my mind..
At least the bad rain started not too long before you stopped for the night. Thanks for another cool video.
Carpetbagger literally living the best life
Carpetbagger. Enjoying this series. Good luck out there. Have a great week.
Albanese chocolate covered gummie bears are a new addiction - uh!mazing!!!
That's the coolest pizza place I've ever seen!
Random but I noticed I was the 60,000th view of this video! Makes me so happy to see those numbers on your channel!
I'm SO glad you asked about the star wars!! LOL I was really wondering :) Always love watching your travels bud!
I was hoping you'd show us your childhood home! I don't believe I've heard of your hometown until now. Thanks for taking us along.
I have a friend that lives there...well used too. She was born there. I miss her from time to time.
Thanks for the “Black, dark like a dolls eyes” Excellent that you remembered to do that! 😁
Awesome video Carpetbagger! I love the Old School Pizza place. It looks awesome! I also like the characters and all the arcade machines in there. That’s so cool! I know you loved it! I also love Scott’s store. That place is cool too! It has a little bit of everything. Just an oddities shop basically! I also liked the Railroad Park you stopped at. That is a hidden gem for sure. That boy looks like you from a past life. I’ll be sure to subscribe to him on RUclips. Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
Interesting places today. Looked up Thomas McLaurie trying to find out his history but have not found anything so far. That pizza place was awesome. So many great things to see . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
I also grew up in Chicago/Northwest Indiana, and had I had no idea Lincoln Highway was a coast to coast highway until this current adventure of yours! Albanese sherbet bears are AMAZING!!
What a great place you found. The pizza place. Thanks 😊 Bob
Gummy Cobb look 👀 delicious 😋
I have heard that the Joliet prison is like the most violent one in US history with the worst conditions. So glad that I never broke a law lol
That kid describes my work attitude. "I'm pretty much here on days I can be here"
Lmao
Rt 66 & Lincoln Highway Very Cool 😎 😎
I'm from cedar rapids IA! I live in Las Vegas currently but I still love going and visiting my home town!
The kid at the end has major “apparently” energy
Old School Pizza was so coool!
Give Iowa some love!
Albanese Candy Factory is the bomb 💣and only a few minutes from my house. I wish they had the actual factory open for tours again, I think your viewers would have really liked that.
Great to see the intersection of the Lincoln Highway and Route 66 as a true road scholar would.
really cool to see the Ripley's pendant from Estes Park i live 30 minutes away. . would always go there when i was a kid. It was sad when they closed it down. Thanx Carpet.
Really cool stops on the Lincoln Highway!!
Come to the old Joliet Prison this summer, we have a Blue's Brothers Con there now. Also it's awesome to see you a block away from where I used to work where Star Wars Day is held hence the action figures.
You were spot on with the hunt idea.
I live in Valpo! I grew up in this area too.I would have lost it if I saw you! Hope you enjoyed your visit Mr. B!
Enjoying this trip very much! Hoping you journey safely😊
You should look up the story of Big League Chew. It is interesting.
That was Captain Crook (later know as just The Captain) who originally stole Filet-O-Fish sandwiches the way the Hamburgerlar stole hamburgers, and the Apple Pie Tree from McDonald's
The pizza place was super cool!
I figured you would have stopped in Dixon. An actual section of the Berlin Wall is on display right off of IL 38, right by the Arch. It's Ronald Reagan's hometown, dontcha know
My first car a Pacer, the girls in school called it bubbles. @ 25:35. Another great video Jacob Thanks
You are Correct, that is the Coors Beer Wolf at the Old School Pizza place 😎👍
really enjoy all the places you been to. can't wait to see where you go next
love watching your videos the trains brought back so many memories my Dad worked for both union pacific and Bnsf in Barstow California I use to ride the trains with him all the time
Have a safe trip. Such fascinating places! And weird! Enjoying your journey.
Killed that pizza. Things taste better when they cool off a bit for sure. You're taste buds are overwhelmed when things are that hot. Love the vlogs pal
Aww what an awesome kid. It's cool you hung out. Loved the pizza place
Love your channel ❤️ thanks 😊
I love the Albanese store. They have the best gummies and chocolate!
Awesome shirt! I live in Oklahoma!
Your hometown looks so pretty!
really enjoyed this one!!! thank you! mr. carpet.......
what a day, nice long entertaining video. thanks jacob
I remember visiting Estes Park with my grandparents when I was maybe in Jr high or High School......We went to the Ripley's.....it's not there anymore...😢That was in the 80's...
It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark, and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it!
Dixon Illinois is where Ronald Reagan grew up. I bet there was some sort of commemorative spot there. Loved your visit to Albanese - they have some great treats. And they give out free samples!!!
Great info of this great American Highway my friend while also making me hungry for sweet snacks!
wow so cool things to see on the road trip
Carpet bagger I like your videos be careful out there and stay safe
Jacob, you did an outstanding job on this video. Lots of good information! Three items you passed over were two marked Seedling Miles of the Lincoln Highway at North Aurora and Malta as well as Illinois' first community cafe (The Rochelle Kitchen Table).
much love ❤
I used to do work in Merrivile n Gary. Miss it a lot !
I was born in Milwaukee too! But I grew up in Florida. I was born at St Michael's hospital in 1979.
Well, Jacob, a pickled punk even one of plastic, is sure some oddity that i wouldn't put up for display in my living room. By following you on the lincoln highway so far i found that it is a little more original and oddity-rich than route66. i think they each add their own little things to the East-West tracking and both complement each other. And they are probably as significant to the binding of all the states and uniting them as the railroad was.
Epic, and honored to be able to follow you on this trip.
As a child j went to a local old fashion general syore with penny candy and you got to pjck esch piecs and they put them jn s bag. It was magical.😊
I'm really enjoying your trip West on the Lincoln Hwy. I live in So Nev, but have a summer property in Kingston Nev, just 20 mi S of the Linc. There's an original Hwy marker in the middle of nowhere, halfway thru Nev at Bob Scott Summit, just E of Austin. Have a Great trip, looking forward to the posts.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’ve been here already!? Why didn’t you tell me!? Meeting you is on my bucket list. 😭
