Have you solo traveled? If so, what do you normally say when people ask if you’re traveling alone? Let what you say in the comments. 💕Thank you for watching!
I can find myself tongue tied when forced to lie on the spot if a situation goes sideways or I just feel it’s off. My solution has been to choose one of two paths, first is to stick close to the truth but modify the details. An example would be to say I’m meeting a tour in 15 minutes but that tour isn’t technically for a few days. The second path you touched on is to answer a question with a question. So if I’m asked if I’m traveling solo I will ask random questions as a reply and I often think most people assume I didn’t hear them and they tend to move on. The people that don’t move on can be a be a big red flag and I get outta there fast and I’m not at all concerned about being rude. I will say that after I stopped dying my hair to cover up my salt and pepper, this happens a lot less. I know for some that might seem depressing but I choose to see it as a silver lining.
Thank you so much for this!! I love this so much!! This is fantastic. I love what you said about sticking as close to the truth as possible and answering a question with a question. Good call on the fact that those that don’t move on…🚩🚩🚩Thank you so much for sharing! 💕
Good video. Your point about keeping your guard up is very important. Some people are quite good at being 'disarming' and making you fell comfortable. Don't be totally trusting.
Yesss!!! Sometimes it's a manipulation tactic! I totally agree! 💕
Well one can always kind of skirt around the question too which works for me when someone asks "oh are you alone",say not at the moment or you can say im waiting on someone now its not really a lie because eventually we all wait for someone regardless of now or later but gut trusting is key and no one owes anyone any answer. Safe travels to all!
So true! Love this response. Thank you for sharing! Safe travels to you. 💕
LOL, "not at the moment." Now that's the truth!
It’s been 5 decades since I traveled in Europe alone and I think the world is a bit more frightening that it was then. During my solo travels I almost always spent hours or days sharing adventurers with other travelers (some solo, some couples or single companions). That was part of the joy of seeing new places and meeting new people.
I so appreciate these videos on solo travel. Please keep doing them! I love travel, but as a single woman, I can get in my head about whether I should take certain trips out of fear. This is really great to educate and reassure. ❤
I totally understand that. I do the same. Thank you for watching! I’m so glad they’ve been encouraging! 💕
This was such a great topic. I just started my solo travel journeys...first was in a group to Spain/Portugal. I felt more comfortable traveling in a group with other couples & solo travelers and with a tour guide that made sure we were all accounted for when getting on the tour bus each day, going to dinner together and making sure we all left on time for traveling to the next city. My next trip will be on a cruise for 7 days...all of these recommendations are so wonderful to keep in mind for my safety. Thank you for sharing your experiences. 🙏🤗💞
I love this!! Group trips can be so great. And like you said, it’s nice to have other people that are watching out for you and are accountable for you and you for them. Have so much fun on your cruise! I want to take a cruise soon too. Thank you for watching! 💕
@KRodCollective Awesome! I watched several of your videos b/4 I took my European trip. So helpful...you inspired me to feel confident that I could solo travel and enjoy doing things by myself and meeting new people. ✨️ 🙏🤗
Hey, thank you so much for this video! I am 20 and am solo travelling to Italy in a couple of weeks and wasn't sure how to answer that question, especially when it is obvious that I am by myself. But this video has made me feel much more comfortable and has given me some great ideas! 😊
Hi there! Oh I’m so happy for you! I’m glad this video was helpful. Have so much fun, trust your gut and enjoy yourself! 💕Safe travels!
Invent a boyfriend back at the hotel 😉.
@@sherunswithscissors (I love your handle!) You can also talk about meeting your friend(s) / boyfriend "in a few minutes." Maybe even pretend to get a text, then "have to go" after "reading" it.
Great question and fabulous answer. I go through the same thought process when answering this question when asked. I usually cruise solo but I spend a few days sightseeing in the departure city. On the ship I usually answer yes because most often it is a genuine curiosity question and the situation feels safe. Other places I will answer no and make something up. Most important I go with my gut instincts. If my no no meter tingles I trust it.
Hi Cynthia!! Absolutely, 💯! Our gut will usually steer us in the right direction. Staying alert and looking out for our safety is the best thing we can do. ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing all of these ideas. I’ve been solo traveling off and on for 20 years, I definitely learned to trust my gut. Now that I am in my 50s, I tend to be invisible to people. The only ones who approach me are women. It’s usually to take their picture or to protect them. I’m 6 feet tall and plus size, so I make a good protector.
I get this! ❣It's so interesting how travel changes as time goes on and how we travel and how we are viewed changes too. Thank you for sharing this and thank you for protecting other women! You are amazing! Thank you also for sharing all of your experiences and tips with us! ❤❤
Kudos to you, fellow Atlanta Lady. I’m so accustomed to going it alone. Rarely is it a big deal.
Yes!!! ATL!! Yes, I feel the same. 💕
I am just beginning to solo travel and am quite nervous about it. My first trip is in November. It is with a group but but you are essentially on your own. I think just saying you are traveling with a group regardless may be a good response. Even in more formal group trips you have free time away from the group so that wouldn't be unusual.
Oh that’s exciting! I hope you meet some friends on the trip. I hope you have a great time! So excited for you! 🎉🎉You got this! ❤️
I was thinking about it a few days ago and here comes your video. Love it. You’re like a personal guide to people. I love all your videos. Thank you for doing the great work. ❤
hahahahaha Great minds think alike!! You are so sweet!! Thank you so much for watching! Much love!! ❣️
You can also say I’m visiting a friend who doesn’t have room for me or I don’t want to inconvenience them.
This was a great video - you do such a good job. My gut never lies.
Thank you!! 🥰You’re always so kind. Absolutely! 💯 Our gut is so helpful.

So well structured and helpful!!!!
Thank you! Thanks for watching! Safe travels. 💕
It’s so sad that we women have to maneuver life this way. What a world we live in, smh looking forward to better times…
I know. 😢
I foolishly told the nice young man at the kebab shop that I was walking alone to the next town along the river the following morning. Oops. I went to my very safe hotel, pulled the shades, slept very well, and was out of there at 6:30 am, long before the evening-shift restaurant workers are up. Sadly, I'm one of those people who rarely learns from her mistakes. I'm 63 years old. I know myself. I'm sure to make more stupid mistakes in my solo travels to foreigns countries where the only words I know are about food. Hopefully I'll figure my way out of these tricky situations. Also, I'm inclined to panic. :>O
hahaha I totally understand. I have also made some really silly mistakes. Thankfully we are okay and safe. But we are still learning. 😅
I always just say no, excuse me, and move on.
And it’s a complete sentence too! Love that!
My bf, my husband , my brother is… or I fake conversation on phones, and say ‘I’ll meet you outside in a few mins’
