There is this concept of a 3km long cis ship which then turned into a republic landing ship
@@muslischeier2978 U mean the Bulwark. That's my top concern. The thing has a lot of weapons, has a lot of armor and heavy shielding and carries fighters. The Resistance owning that would be a concern.
Ehm, why? CiS never needed bigger ship and the ones they had were perfectly fine in terms of tech. They needed more carriers as their drone fighters could be launched in thousands from a small vessel compared to biggest republic and imperial carriers launching 7-8 dozens at max. Just mix in a few with warhead and order those to suicide ram republic capital ship when the whole swarm attacks.

The Resurgent might be my favorite capital ship in the SW universe. Such a cool design.
Now that I think about it, the Resurgent reminds me of the Ascendency for the Empire of the Hand, just on a battlecruiser size, and with less blue people.
Mark Thompson I liked the designs for the first order, I just though as an organization they were poorly handled. There should have been more imperial era tech to show that they’re a remnant of the empire.
@@punctuationman334 it would’ve been cool to see how the First Order would’ve panned out in Duel of the Fates instead of what happened to them in The Rise of Skywalker.
The Praetor is hard to judge, anyone who still uses it post the imperial era, would probably have gone out of their way to maximize it's firepower, since it seems to have room to spare.
They’re useful in Thrawns revenge pentastar and Eriadu Authority use at least one variant
The Pentastar Alignment used the carrier variant. It was also really effective.
My vote is for the NR Mediator. Mon Cal shields are quite possibly the best in Star Wars, and she would be fielding the best starfighters the galaxy had to offer: XJ's, E-Wings and K-Wings
The only reason everyone calls Mon Calamari ships the best in Star Wars is that the Givins’ ships are so sidelined, I don’t think we have the name of a single Givin ship model. For those who don’t know, the Givin are a species from Legends who come from a planet where tidal forces cause the atmosphere to pool up in certain places, creating a vacuum on much of the planet’s surface. The Givin can survive in a vacuum for a short time, but they also have to use math to predict when they will have air, making them a very math-savvy species. They eventually started applying their mastery of math to shipbuilding, creating starships that at least rivaled Mon Calamari engineering.
I like how we hear you talking just nice and calm while also hearing the beerio kart audio play in the background.
Battle cruisers in classic navy doctrine were ships armored like a heavy cruiser with cruiser speed but the guns of a battleship (a star destroyer). The idea was they would engage cruisers and hunt them down but run if faced with a battleship. The only time they would engage a battleship was in support of other friendly battleships. When they would go it alone you would have massive losses like the HMS Hood to the Bismarck. The idea in the Star Wars universe (as well as many others) that a battlecruiser was the biggest thing out there is just insane.
1. Would the Bulwark III be considered the best Rebel/NR battlercruiser in Lucas Canon? It is 2500 meters. Meanwhile, in Disney Canon, the MC85 is 3000 meters and has incredible shields. We do not know very much in terms of what the Mediator looks like or it's precise size.
As for the CIS, what about the Lucrehulk?

Not just shear firepower, but from a _bang for you buck_ perspective - not nerfed dreadnaughts that cost a fortune.
A ship that just fit under the limits, but was a formidable design, and could perhaps even keep up during the clone wars as a midsized ship.
And side note, was the Acclamator legal under the Ruuson rules?
i think just make it under 1 kilometer but attach few turbo laser and call it transport😁
Don't forget the best one, the Centurion!
Seems to me that the Praetor would work better at attacking light to medium sized supply convoys. It was designed to protect itself and its assigned worlds from pirates. I can see the ship leading a task force as a commerce raider during the Clone Wars.
Battlecruisers are second *only* to Dreadnoughts in terms of price and other aspects. They cost a lot, like multiple star destroyers worth of money. It's already hard for factions to afford something the size of a star destroyer, forget a battlecruiser. It's meant to be a reserve ship.

I would say the Allegiance is my favourite of these four battle cruisers, not just a bias opinion but because of familiarity with using it often in Empire at War long as you can keep producing them at 11,000 credits each. I have no doubt the Resurgent is a great ship but we have not seen much of it in major fleet action either. Perhaps if there is a First Order Mod I would check it out. The Praetor always struck me as a great bulky ship with that roll of a tower but can easily be overwhelmed when bombers and sustained fire are brought against it since I have destroyed many that way.
I personally want to see a cross between a Maelstrom and a Resurgent
It looks like the Allegiance does have a small hangar.
Great video. The Allegiance is my favourite of all these ships. It has flaws, but it's a highly specialised warship.
8:07, I just noticed how bad the marching of those clones is. They're not in time to each other, and they're supposed to be the best fighting force the Republic could get. I've seen better drill from Army Cadets.

Do you believe the First Order still utilized smaller Star Destroyers to augment their fleet? Also what do you think a hypothetical First Order Imperial class would include and look like #AskEck
Is the malevolence a dreadnought or a battlecruiser?
why not do 1 of your ship vs for the mediator vs allegiance
#AskEsk Can you make video about Republic Navy before Clone Wars?
I have to disagree with the ships you included on this list. The New Republic could have realistically included the Nebula-class Star Destroyer, despite being smaller than the other ships on this list, or, if you wanted something lesser known, the Mon Calamari Heavy Carrier, the line of starships the Blue Diver comes from. (The Legacy of the Force books for the source of this) But, more to the point, the Mandator-II class Star Dreadnought was not large enough to be classes as such, and is better described as a battlecruiser, and I'm not sure why you went with the Praetor, but here we are.
The Praetor-class was not a combat-oriented ship, whereas the Mandator-II saw much more combat during the war. Finally, and the biggest point I'd like to make: The Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser, or the Malevolence and the Devastation. Similar size to the other ships on this list, if a little big, but still worth mentioning. Also, then you can make a direct comparison between the Mandator-II and the Subjugator, and I don't know why you didn't because that would have been really cool.
Hey eck. What program did you use in order to make the dread vs dead video?

#AskEck why do people assume Mon Calamari ships are well armed matches for Star Destroyers when we never see any signs of those weapons in TV shows and movies?
Wheres all these clips coming from
Man I got to say, as much as I really do love Star Wars with all of my heart, they got to retcon in a much more analytical hull classification system to describe ships.
It's almost pointless to call something a cruiser, a frigate, a destroyer, etc. when they almost all have variable rolls, weapon systems / capabilities, and mission sets.
@@khadenallast4495 True, especially because many ship rely on a wall of small caliber casemated guns rather than a few high caliber, long range guns housed in turrets (and the ones that do, mainly in Republic or Imperial service close to knife fighting range anyways).
Still the general breakdown of WWI / WWII ship classes still generally holds in actual mission profile, even if most engagements (rather foolishly) break down into

SWs ship classification system (from legends) is really messed up, hopefully it is fixed in canon.
ISDs should be 'battleships'.
Venators as cruisers/battlecruisers/heavy cruisers/etc.
Super SDs as 'super battleships' or 'dreadnaughts.
Seeming as in the SWU Ionic weapons have been used for thousands of years; has no one come up with an anti-Ion blast field/ technology?
I mean they have exploited a major weakness in SW ships defenses for 10's of centuries, surely a flaw that great would have been designed out of ships in that time. I mean in just 60 years of nuclear and EMP pulses on earth, for at least 30 years we have created systems to make sensitive electronics immune to EMP's, the only thing stopping or slowing the rollout of widespread such systems is the astronomical (did you see what I did there) costs I am sure if we have not wiped out mankind or the planet/ star,/solar system/ galaxy/ universe has done it for us in around a 1000 years every electrical system will be immune to EMPs. If you can create energy fields that stop physical objects getting through; then A field that negates Ion weapons should be relatively easy.
Heck, a field generator that connects to lightning tod that sticks out from in front of the ship to beyond the rear with a rubber coating over the whole length of it and rubber lined mounting brackets with a rubber covering on the outside of the supporting pylons should be a defense to Ion weapons especially how StarWars ships always fight on a 2d plane.
#AskEck, Do you plan to do a top 5 list regarding your favourite ships from Star Wars/all franchises?
but this whole list you're forgetting the most important thing it's not just the ship but who's piloting the ship that makes the difference
The best ship is Friendships
As a maritime history buff, whenever I hear about sci fi battlecruisers being slow or plodding or anywhere near the archetypical "mighty glacier" I shudder. What defined them in real life was comparatively higher speed over their contemporary battleship cousins. Often achieved by thinning armor protection and upping engine power.
Kinda surprising too since the idea of a ship with high firepower and decent speed but vulnerable could play an interesting unique role in a sci-fi navy
Bakura destroyers in Awakening of the Rebellion are a goood example of this. Very fast ships, good firepower, not wonderful armour.
I suppose if we're bending the definition, Resurgent-clases *could* fit the role, sorta. I remember, in lore, because fuck knows they aren't in the films, it being said somewhere that in a straight line they could go at quite a pace.
Not to mention cruisers, destroyers, sometimes frigates... I get that these people didn't study naval hierarchy, but just quickly looking into common ship capabilities and roles could've given a much more interesting depth of ships to many sci fi franchises. Star Wars does seem to sometimes try to fix this, but overall it's a "problem" across much of sci fi
Me too, mate. Me too. Ship classification in Star Wars has always been headache inducing. They tried to fix it, only to make it much worse.
I want you to play more drunk Minecraft.. I laughed harder at that then I did anything in weeks...

Except mostly internally, and by everyone against everyone.

@@ExcaliburHeavyBattlecruiser subjugator better
Still have to see it do _anything._ It's nice looking and they made up some shiny numbers on their propaganda essential guides. But did it do something on screen? Nope... Oh yeah, it launched 4 TIEs once... The Resurgent is the most artificially overrated ship ever. Never have I seen such a disappointing "beast". That thing can't even keep pace with a vulgar and outdated stripped down Mon Cal cruiser.
@@ExcaliburHeavyBattlecruiser You're playing damage control Resurgent. You know that freighter was hit countless times, but somehow resisted the firepower of a ship that wrecked a corellian corvette in no time. That freighter is protected by an armor from Elsewhere, a ship that you were unable to prevent from reaching orbit and leave the system, might I had, despite the fact two of your TIEs were in close air support mission on site, and the freighter was hijacked by a slow ass heavy cargo ship that stayed in orbit for something like 15 minutes straight, while it was getting boarded by pirates.
Oh, and that TIE you shut down? It was piloted by _your_ prisoner, who escaped thanks to _your_ traitor, and who was able to easily destroy almost all of one section of your broadside battery: someone forgot to design hull-tight shields for you. What a shame. I have no trouble believing you actually _couldn't_ catch that Mon Cal, since you didn't even bother to try when you met her first, despite the fact you outnumbered her already, and she was standing there, stationary above her base. You didn't even fire one turbolaser in her direction. What kind of Destroyer are you? A Shy Destroyer? You've got some nice weaponry on paper but all we've seen so far is a TIE that you needed two missiles to wreck, and who destroyer about a dozen of your batteries in one row. Pretty underwhelming that's for sure.
Momma Imperial isn't impressed: she can bombard planets on her own, she's as fast as the Millenium Falcon, tracking that thing down for days without sweating. It takes a freaking asteroid field for days to kill her. She tears through corvettes and frigates in seconds when they don't have plot armour. She never had any of her crew deserting in mission. No fighter was ever able to destroy any or her batteries without taking out the shields first. She flown dozens of TIEs hurling towards her enemies, while you seem to have to respect a rule that forces you to launch only 4 TIEs in a row, no more. What a joke for a battlecruiser with so many hangar bays. It really looks like you are better at posing than acting.
@@ExcaliburHeavyBattlecruiser Things that are great on paper but fails at basic missions don't deserve any love or care. You're just a pale imitation of your predecessor, desperately trying to outdo her, but always remaining in her shadow.

#AskEck
How would a confrontation/fight between the Nebula Star Destroyer and Starhawk Battleship turn out? And which is more well designed?
Justin Trujillo the Nebula is better designed/more powerful. The Nebula was created way later in the Legends NR era, and had better firing arcs, better shielding, and better fighters. Assuming The Starhawk had the same shield generators as the ISD (because the starhawk was literally thrown together with ISD parts) then the shielding on the Nebula would be vastly better. The starhawk also was active during 6-7 ABY, which meant it still carried rebel fighters, (A wing, Xwing Ywing probably no Bwings) if it even had a hangar, while the Nebula carried the next generation fighters (Ewing, Defender, Kwing T75 Xwing, J-Stealth Xwing). The 80 turbos, 20 Ion cannons and 10 concussion missile launchers are easily more firepower than the Starhawk could feasibly have. The only advantage the Starhawk could have is the stronger tractor beam, but that would probably be no effect in this fight. (The only reason a starhawk was able to pull down a SSD was because an entire fleet destroyed the engines, secondary engines, and it had a huge gravity assist from the planet of Jakku) I doubt it can normally pull a capital ship the size of a Nebula down normally without all those factors.

Everyone rips on the First Order just because the new movies aren't popular, but really their technology outpaces pretty much all competition. Their ships and vehicles are excellent and their training program seems like it's nearly on par with what the Kaminoans used. Not to mention that they have intelligently redesigned Imperial assets to maintain a level of psychological warfare. Really I think their only flaw is that they train their officers with a little too much zeal, which makes them very overconfident
I agree. Damn the Fandom Menace!
U forgot to mention that the Mediator was particularly tanky for a Mon Cal ship, as it could withstand a nuclear detonation in its hangar. It also packed an immense amount of firepower. The Resurgent-class Star Destroyer is a fast and agile ship. It could travel even faster than a First Order TIE Fighter if need be, however, such speed came at the cost of maneuverability. At top speeds, the ship needed a lot of counter-thrust, for even the smallest maneuver, thus in the hands of a reckless commander, the Resurgent could find itself out of control and even destroyed. The ship required the most experienced commanders in order to be piloted appropriately.
I eagerly await the day the Separatists make a glorious comeback since that navy and gunship compared.

In my Star Wars Fanon universe, I created a modified ISD-1 Star Destroyer that could take on a good sized fleet and still come out on top. The ship’s name was the Thunderbolt, and while a large part of its success came from the tactical genius of its commander, Commodore Lorth Vize, it was still armored and armed at a level far enough past the typical Star Destroyer to give it the title of battlecruiser, in my opinion.
Upon his promotion to Admiral, Vize received a new ship, the Emperor’s Fury, but this ship, an Ultima-class flagship, the only ship in its class in my Fanon universe, would be categorized as a dreadnought in the Imperial Navy, as it was slightly larger than an Executor-class, with a massive, mile-long minigun that could be deployed from the underside, a weapon Vize affectionately refers to as “the Peacekeeper.”
Sounds pretty cool.

Okay Paul, let's put it this way. You would not call an aircraft carrier a cruiser, would you?
@@tyaz6556 I wouldn't but that is hardly relevant. The Subjugator class is between 2 and 5 km and so falls under the battlecruiser definition by the Araxes War College of Star Wars
For those wondering, in real life a battlecruiser was sort of a middle ground between the battleship and heavy cruiser. A battlecruiser was well-armed and armored, but not quite as well as a proper battleship. However, it made up for this by being much faster than a battleship. It could wreck anything on the sea except a battleship, which it could easily outrun.
...Then aircraft carriers became a thing and ruined all of the cool ship types.
