My prolapse has improved due to weight loss and exercise
I am now a grade one and don't think I have any need for a pessary
To which I am very thankful.

Uk here. It’s very important to get the right fit and make. Mine is a ´soft’ one made by Milex. I’ve been using one for 3 years. I do not take it out but have a regular appt with my Doc every 3 months to make sure everything ok. This is the norm in the Uk. After several tries at finding the right fit I don’t even know it’s there. One disadvantage is that I get outbreaks of Thrush so am considering surgery.

I had my my second uterine prolapse in March this year due to a coughing fit, by the time I got in to see the specialist 4 months later my cervix and bladder was coming out as well.
My doctor a lovely lady fitted me with a pessary,
    that heavy dragging
and the feeling that something is hanging out of you
    felt instantly relieved once fitted.
I will go back every 3 months to have mine replaced,
you do have to watch out for several things the big one is bladder infections, plus the pessary can stop urine flow if it is not fitted properly and also your nether regions can have a bad smell as well.
The worst is that you have to watch what you lift which sadly means no more picking up the bigger grandkids

Totally agree! A good fit is important! I'd disagree on the lifting! We're using it A TON for working with barbell athletes & crossfit mamas! We have new research showing that this generation of mamas ARE lifting a lot in pregnancy/postpartum. The paradigm is shifting and quite soon it won't be the standard to not lift your grandkids (probably shouldn't be now!)

Hi, thanks I have a question, what is the disadvantages of using pessary?

    • @carriepaglianopt
      @carriepaglianopt  Год назад +1

Assuming it fits well & manages symptoms there aren't any! Sometimes it takes awhile to get fitted well.

    Do pessaries contribute to UTI’s!

Typically no. Depending on your age and hormonal status it may be worth a conversation with your GYN about estrogen levels!

    Does insurance typically cover pessaries?

Like anything it depends on your plan and benefits. Fortunately we're able to get them at discount. Client pays around $40 plus shipping for the device. Super cost effective

Can i use passery for rectocel no 3

Definitely worth seeing a urogynecologist or colorectal doctor if you have that available. Most pessaries are not as helpful for rectoceles but there are exceptions.
