    So glad you’re spreading awareness!! I can’t tell you how many docs and surgeons I’ve gone through that have NEVER even mentioned pelvic floor pt!! I only found out about it through a hysterectomy support group. I have endo with an extensive surgical history for it, 3 c-sections and more recently a hysterectomy. I had to ask my surgeon for the hysterectomy to refer me for therapy after still having issues. I just started and so happy I found out about such a thing. More women need to know about it.

      I'm so glad you were able to ask for it yourself! Yes doctors and surgeons need to talk more about it!

      When my prolapse happened and I asked my gyn why this wasn't addressed at previous appointments as I had many symptoms indicating. She said they dont tell women because then thats all they will concentrate on. Made me sooo angry...she also didn't tell me about therapy.

    • @mellisa5016
      @mellisa5016 Год назад +3

      @@debiwillis9045 that is infuriating! I had to mention it twice to my surgeon and she finally agreed to put in the referral. I made sure to tell her how many women share success stories after pelvic floor therapy. It can help with so many symptoms that some women have no clue are fixable or would seem unrelated. Unfortunately many docs are quick to just prescribe meds to mask the problems. I wish more medical care providers would approach care in a multi disciplinary way.

      Thank you for commenting on this. I wish you health and joy. Your medical history, how did it affect your daily life like sitting, urination, defecation, walking and vaginal sexual activity (intercourse, some pleasure feeling and any orgasm from time to time)? How has pelvic floor physical therapy changed any problems in any of the above? Could you kindly elaborate a little?
      I am pregnant but scared about pelvic floor issues after delivering the baby. The gynecologist recommended pelvic floor physical therapy in case there is incontinence, repeated UTI or problems in basic feminine sexual desire and response.

    This is something I was never told about when deciding to have children.....4 children later and a partial hysterectomy; my specialist suggested this as I have been having pain/discomfort. This needs to be talked about! I'm 51 and had no idea..... Doctors are doing an injustice to their patients by not talking about the pelvic floor and the therapy that's available....thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I’m pregnant with my first baby and want to do pelvic floor physio (as multiple people have recommended it while pregnant), but I’ve been feeling super nervous and anxious about it. Thank you for clearly and kindly explaining what it entails and its benefits! I’m feeling a bit more comfortable with the idea of going to see a pelvic floor PT now 😊

    • @Jessicasvalant
      @Jessicasvalant  Год назад +6

      Someone who is licensed and you feel comfortable with! You'll want to look at things such as what other services they offer, how long they have been specializing in pelvic floor, if they take insurance, etc.

      @JessicaValantPilates I was lucky enough to see an associate Dr. Instead of primary for prolapse. But he only diagnosed as likely by symptoms. Even though I live in a fairly large city. I only have one I could be referred to. And I can't see gyn until March. It's January as I comment here. So I could try to get my referral to pelvic floor therapist earlier! Like now?!

And I notice that this is not discussed in this video. So how effective is PFT in treating gay men with this issue?
