The incomparable Luther. Literally no one could ever sing like that, what a wonderful talent, God rest his soul.
What a sad loss to one of the best ever 🙏🙏🙏

No body sings like him yet...he is missed!
Everytime I hear a sound coming out of Luther Vandross' mouth, I always can't believe its coming out of a human. I feel like there's no mere mortal who deserve that kind of voice. Its just.....godly.
🙏🙏Blessings forever
GOD loves y'all too forever tell everyone you know and don't know. Jesus loves y'all too forever. Teach everyone how to see and enjoy their blessings too forever.
I hear this song, it's makes me cry.
No auto tune needed! He never knew a bad note in his entire career. RIP
Dionne’s face is absolutely
PRICELESS!!!🎶🎼👏🙌
Because she did this song first...
That voice of his was fully under his control
Flawless performance, had all the women and Paul Winfield ready to risk it all!
You peeped that too huh?! Lol SMH
@@yapahyadayahyasharahla4020 I was going to say the same thing !

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nah fr luther had everybody grandma going crazy 💀 🤦🏽♂️😂😂😂💯🙏🏽
The best male vocalist of his generation. Those velvet notes with those sudden raspy nuances... a man with feelings. Those deep down sounds from his throat making us go with him through those depths before going for the highest notes and take us to heaven. A real master. My favourite male vocalist ever.
Greatest live singing performance in recorded history
So true..
Funny there is no stress, struggle,or strain to his singing.....He just put a blessing on full display.
😂him just taking...wait was he singing at the same time 😂❤
Simply unbelievable. Often cited as the best live TV performance ever recorded. Vocal mastery of the highest order
This kind of soul has a special seat in eternity. We will hear elements of this kind of vocal talent as long as God exists, and that is forever. Period. I'm done.
A beautiful voice and soul taken way too soon.
@@buttheadak We can't have him forever you know, God needs him in his Choir
Omg that Silky-smooth voice...I love how Dionne Warrick watches him like a proud mama/Aunt. Beautiful moment.
Every time I watch this, I am so grateful for the technology that allows us to see and hear this amazing man. There's nothing like him. Thank you, Luther, for making such beautiful music.
Back when songs were 10 minutes each.
💞💞💞💞
And it could be even longer it was so refreshing.
And great!
Gotta push vinyls
🙏🙏Blessings forever
GOD loves y'all too forever tell everyone you know and don't know. Jesus loves y'all too forever. Teach everyone how to see and enjoy their blessings too forever,
An artist creating art right in front of your eyes. Audio art. Just like van Gogh with a brush. His voice the brush, the song the canvas, the notes paint. Never be another 💯
⚘Lovely⚘
Beautifully expressed.
Purely magical
beautifully stated
What a beautiful man. Gone but his voice will live forever in my heart.
There's no one in this day and time that can do it like Luther.
I totally agree with you ‼️🙌🏾
Agree 110%
The only person that could've replaced him after death is Jaheim had he not gone through the things that he did.
I think that mostly everyone who has listened to this is still in love with Luther Vandross! What a sweet, romantic, passionate and extremely sensitive singer.
Sade Lauryn hill Robert thick
Pure vocal talent, no autotune, digital alterations, nada! Just pure soul and talent…. One of the best R&B we’ve ever had!
So TRUE!!!
The bottom of my feet want to fall off when this man sings. He’s damn handsome too.
Ok I Must say this for the non musicial tone deaf idiot
That’ voted this down you are clueless and no talent you fucking loser

No Dancers or fancy lights in the background!!!! Just stand there and SING!!! True Talent... Great performance!!!!
Luther vandross one of the GREATEST soul singers of all times vocals flawless out of this world stunning Luther you are still so sadly MISSED tremendously 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹🇬🇧
I would replace "Soul" with "Jazz" but let's keep that a secret‼ 🤫😏😉😎👍
Man took us on a journey. Who else is doing this these days? I’ll wait.
Luther does it! Also, check out Keith Urban on RUclips doing Barry Gibb's song "To Love Somebody" at the Grammy's BeeGees tribute.
Right......Answer....NOBODY.....
I love Luther, check out the young man Dimash Kudaibergen from Kasikstan.
Please don't hold your breath while you wait!! Haha peace! ♥
Let me see 🤨 ummm!! Let me sleep on it, ok you are right. There is no one like Luther Vandross.
His music brings tears to my eyes. So very sad we lost him.
Same here😭😭😭
wie kann man einen Sänger so gefühlsvoll begleiten! Genial! -- LV - RIP---
Straight up one of the greatest vocal performances ever. The man was a force of nature taken way too soon. Timeless.
The thing about it is, is that he is singing this live, and it sounds just like how u would hear it on the record or it would on a CD! Just go’s to show you what type of vocalist he truly was where his voice sounds just like how the sound engineer set up the event!! True talent!!
Nah it sound better. Go listen to the recording. Luther improvised so much in this performance which is why it’s legendary
Best part of this song is how the audience reacts to his singing! True amazing real singer! Mr. Vandross keep singing in heaven, thank you for the music! ♥️♥️♥️
LUTHER VANDROSS! This is the single best performance I have ever seen by any artist ever!
Luther was in his prime and defined soulful singing and R&B!
No one has ever come close!
That's my favorite artist
Luther was the GOAT, but c'mon, Marvin Gaye was right there
@@johnt8444 No. Its Luther then everybody else.
@@mofun5315 love Luther, but there were a few greats
Oh Heavenly Father, see it fit that Luther is at gates of heaven when I get there....I just wanna hear his voice while I stroll on in and take my place in the kingdom LORD!
This the best. He is just waiting on you, LOL!!!
@@mondakindle6869 I really really hope so. Lol!
AMEN TO THAT
Luther will be reincarnated by then sorry.
In heaven you don’t get to sing! The choir will do that
Luther was the first artist I ever heard perform LIVE! Who actually sounded better than his record! Phenomenal! Mike drop…….
This version is one in a million 😭😭😭 Luther: simply at his Best!! 👏👏👏
This is one song that can't be denied, He just snatched Dionne's hit and made it his own.
We always lose the great ones. 😢
Rest easy and peacefully in Paradise my friend ❤❤❤🎉
NO one can sing like Luther . I have not heard a voice like his...so much emotion, love and happiness. When he sings it's like you got stop everything you doing.. ..just be still. I KNOW I MISS YOU LUTHER.
I sing better
Whew I’m only 23 but my mom was a big fan of Luther so she played a lot of him growing up and I’ve been in love every since. She passed a few years back so it definitely hits different now but he stays on my play list, I appreciate this music it’s timeless and I know we will never get another. This performance was gold just pure vocals, raw vocals just amazing 🤩. No excuse me while I watch this 10 more times before I go to bed lol
Absolute mastery of vocal range. An incredible singer who easily evokes an array of emotions within the listener. Truly a gift and blessing to the world. You will never be forgotten. He mesmerized legends who looked at his performance and clearly could not get enough. His voice is intoxicating.
Still The Best solo performance ever til this day !!!
I saw Luther at the Circle Star theatre back in the 80s . When he came to the stage among his eloquent comments he said what you will hear is just like the record . THIS performance has to be if not the greatest of all time it's as close as it'll get ! AWESOME !
I saw him twice in the bay area in that same era ..his stage performance was so elegant ..people dressed up to hear this man sing ..it felt like he was giving you his all onstage , what a show ,with his amazing backup singers too
Circle Star Theater in Cali?
I was probably at that concert too!
@@brendabarber144 I saw Rick James at Circle Star and Dazz Band ........ haha, but I saw Luther at the Oakland Coliseum Arena
@@brendabarber144 Hi Brenda , yes it was Cali San Carlos to be exact . Wonderful concert , Luther was an entertainer, and what I heard from friends is that he was a perfectionist . I still appreciated him .
One of the greatest vocal performances of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Every now and then I have to come back to this video just to remember how great music used to be.
Luther & Whitney Best Of All Time ..Ladys and Gentleman!!!!
Damn!!!!! Had me in tears. So beautiful.
Indeed!
Me too, simply wow
Yesssss I forever love this performance ❤
I will put this live performance against any other one person performance ever!
My money on Luther errtime!
Marvin Gaye Distant Lover, Teddy Pendergast come over to my place. Luther Vandross Superstar is probably the best.
Patti labelle tribute to Aretha is next to this one🙌🏾side by side
Totally.
Timeless! I forgot how much I loved this man's voice!!!! Noone can touch him.
The last crooner. R.I.P. Luther, and thanks for what you left us.
LUTHER VANDROSS! I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SINGLE BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN!
LUTHER WAS IN A CLASS BY HIMSELF.
NO ONE THAT I'VE EVER SEEN COULD SING AS HE DID, WITH AMAZING FEELING BEAUTY AND GRACE! MAY GOD BLESS YOU LUTHER VANDROSS! WE MISS YOU!
One of the GREATEST male vocalist of all times.
I agree Chris
The purest vocals that I've ever heard! Sans, the theatrics and the voice machines. His voice was easy, a gift from God that was unselfishly shared with the world.
You know you are a genius when you have them eating out of your hands INCLUDING the song's originator. And when it sounds live as good or better than the record. RIP Mr. Vandross.
David Malik.... MUCH better (live)
@@Ruoktoday1 Well, first, I like that first name. That is a tough one David as I agree they are close but I will go with the former. It could be because it was the first time hearing it and the woman I was attempting to get with. Great memories. Both are amazing, but I don't agree that the latter is much better. I think the crowd influences us a bit, which is great btw.
@@davidmalik9821 Thanks. One reason i think this is much better than the studio version is the vocal gymnastics (which are not overdone in my opinion) on display here. Anyway we can agree to disagree on this one despite sharing a first name... Irrespective of our views on which performance is better I'm sure we agree that he was a freakish singer, the likes of which is rarely, if ever seen.
@@Ruoktoday1 Agreed! Amazing!
Ho scoperto la sua grandezza qualche anno fa. Che voce. Che sensibilità. Che interprete. Che Dio lo accolga in paradiso
Seeing the tears shining in Dionne Warwicks eyes ......this performance by Luther was pure magic. Such a joy to watch ❤
Luther had them women shaking lol. It don't seem natural for someone to sing that flawlessly and LIVE, just amazing! Dionne was looking exactly like her cousin Whitney in this video to me❤😍.
Luther was a beast…
Pure genius…
My dear Luther, how I miss you.....there will never be anyone like you my dear Luther
Who are these 220 people who downvoted this? This is simply one of the greatest live performances ever. The singer's confidence in their own voice and complete control over their own voice, the powerful connection with his audience, the runs, the incredible transitions from the low to the high notes, just incredible. Luther was at his absolute peak here and you can tell that everyone in that room knew they were watching one of those once-in-a-lifetime performances.
Chris Brown and them could *NEVER EVER* put on this kind of *PERFORMANCE* this is called *EXCELLENCE* .
No antics, no autotune, just *RAW* on the mic. *GOD GIVEN TALENT!!* We Love You Luther!
Chris Brown sing for his live like this lol. Why mention Chris name in this comment. When they talked about male vocalists aint no one counting CB in that category
The Unpopular Opinion plz don't mention chris brown in the same sentence as luther the most beautiful voice I have ever heard.
@@afrofitness3816 I was pointing out how *lost* this generation is. No talent
@@leonardomoore1868 I agree. I was saying that this generation could never compare.
Those guys couldn't even be background singers in Luther's band. Dude used to sound check for HOURS to make sure his singers were on point!
Dear Lord do I miss his voice. All talent, no gimmicks
A superb performance from one of the greatest R&B/ Soul singers to ever grace the microphone. How fortunate we are to have this live memory of him at his best. Thank you Luther!
