Corey knows how to get ideas into your head and hands in simple but very effective ways. When I started taking his classes I did know theory but the practical application was escaping me. I moved from a middle beginner to an intermediate player quickly. Corey also has the best bang for your buck. One more thing if you don't know theory his approach still moves you right along.
Once I figured out on my own that the Pentatonics and CAGED are exactly matched up (minor or major), it instantly fell in place for me. Not sure why I wasn’t shown this years ago. It would’ve been a game changer.
Fantastic teacher! If I would've found this lesson 2 1/2 years ago I'd be sooo much farther along! To me its like learning math. If I have a few examples of how I'm going to use that formula I absorb it faster. Actually get to use it!
Great stuff! Re; GE-7, I don't use it as a boost but rather as a tone shaper to make 1 guitar sound differently by boosting and cutting different frequencies, but not the volume. So I place it near the front of my chain with basically unity gain. When I want a boost, I use my Vertex Boost and/or my Dry Bell Compressor and/or my dirt pedals. Just another option that works for me.
Was gonna say, wished I had you as a teacher.. but then I realised I do. I've had 4 guitar tutors over the last 3 decades, on and off. They were ok, but I wasn't in the right mindset at the time (lazy, unfocused, whatever) I am now though.. so you're arguably the best teacher I've ever had. Thanks for the vid as always
Corey, worth commenting that each shape fits like a puzzle piece into the next (and previous) shape. Also, one can play all of these notes over a C Major tune (Am relative minor to C Major, etc.) Great Lesson!
I discovered from practicing your triad lesson and arpeggios lesson, the triad map out the different arpeggios depending on what strings you are playing the triad on.
Minor pattern is a derived mode of major pentatonic. Guitarists need to think and learn on terms of major pentatonic. I don't play Bm pentatonic on a C chord to get a Lydian sound; I play a D major pentatonic. Etc x a zillion. Great guitar, great playing btw.
I don't know these 5 shapes, I sort of learned to play thru the Root notes from root to root I just need to hit whatever intervals I need, I basically either head towards a root behind "towards the nut" or ahead "to the bridge", seems lazy but I think I just shortcutted past a lot of stuff to get to the same conclusion.
The key to a great vizualization system is when you only need to look at a single note o. a certan string and then be able to see 12 frets or so in that scale in one shot. All eyes, no thinking just like when you drive to go to work on the highway. Just enough awareness to avoid ditches.and other cars.
“Giving a new guitarist a scale and telling them to solo is like giving a toddler a dictionary and telling them to make a speech.” Hahahahaha so true. My solos sound like my two year old trying to tell me a story.

This is super helpful, restricting yourself to a few strings makes sense. Thanks for breaking this down in an easy to grasp way.
Really like the way he simplifies the thought process!

Thx Amos!
That first exercise on improvising on 2 strings at a time and then bringing them together... 🤌 *chefs kiss*
Thanks Corey for teaching us all your great great plans.

Always good to listen to Corey.
Thanks Corey, very valuable lesson here. I definitely need to do some restricting when I play scales. Sometimes less is more.
Take care 🎶🤘🏻🎸
Corey THANK YOU... this was like discovering a Goldmine

Just blew my mind. I never figured out that each position just starts on the next note in the scale on the 6th string
I know it's the player, but that guitar sounds so good.
I wish i had watched this live
We’ll start sending out email alerts for these so more people can join live. We’ll do at least one more this month too!
thanks very much 🍺😍👍😎 i love you 🍺❤️

That sticking on 2 strings and moving between patterns exercise at 15:20 is fantastic. Thanks, Corey.
Thanks for this, but I wish your chart had the lowest fret marked as a reference point.
Corey, I just like to hear you talk
You may be the first person to ever say that! 😂
