It’s worth mentioning too that conservative media has traditionally HATED Mr. Rogers, and upon his death, Fox News threw a fit about how he was terrible because he taught that every child was special and important. You know, really bad things to tell kids… I guess? I think it’s inevitable that any attempt the Daily Wire would make to try and copy Mr. Rogers would fall flat, because the very soul of the show was something they don’t like. If you take the celebration of individuality, creativity, free-thinking, and self-expression out of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, all you’re left with is an empty house without even a coat rack next to the door.
Anyone who could say they hate Mr. Rogers is pure evil in my book. That man was a saint, on and off screen. He did what conservatives could never even dream of; he lived by the same principles he taught to his audience.
Which is why I thought it was so confusing how they praised Mr. Rogers to that capacity, especially since Mr. Rogers was very much anti-consumerist and people thought of him as very weird, especially with that famous episode where he had the character for François Clemens soaking feet in the same pool in response to strong racial tensions on how pools were still segregating bathers. I never understood it until much later and I wish I had watched it more when I was a kid.

The anti woke brainrot always existed. It just became better adapted to the current environment and also became saner. Within the old ones, you were lucky if they even at some level embraced games (they called it toys without educational value), comics (they knew about the politics in them), and stuff like anime (which they called both ultraviolent and made for PDF files). I don't know how much of it is still archived, or are on servers people forgot about. At least (at one point, I don't know what happened to it) ConservaPedia had a list of movies with "leftist agenda", and they listed Alien as a "radical feminist movie", and pretty much used the same arguments as today's "women being strong in movies are unrealistic" type of guys.

The funny thing is that Bluey ISNT conservative. Its highly inclusive accepting and very cleverly written. Its the same thing that made mlp popular. Good characters good design and clever writing. The thing is with Chipchilla is that is IS actually conservative and you can see that if you compare the parenting between Bluey and Chip's dads. While Chip plays a bit too much his dad sees no problem in breaking his sons toys and ruining his bedroom and later making Chip clean it up himself, Bluey's dad is confronted with the same problem, he plays along with his daughters while slowly encouraging them to do what needs to be done with no harm done to property. While chip's dad treats his kids like lessers bluey's dad sees his kids as equals and treats them roughly as such while using patient parenting styles while only snapping rarely and accidentally
As a person who grew up in an abusive conservative household in the south, it is a society that views children below the age of 16 as actual lessers. Not just my parents but my teachers and my community all agreed too. Kids are lesser people who deserve little to no respect and anything they say that contradicts an adult is arguing and needs to be punished (and in my case beaten) out of them. Bluey is an extremely hard show to watch for me cause it is everything I needed and wanted when I was younger.

Every now and then a clip of Bluey crosses my path and its such a sweet and informative show. Most clips seem to be about letting children know their emotions and feelings are valid, even when they are angry or confused, and if they just talk about their feelings with others we can all find a way to work things out together. Its a wonderful show.
Spot on. I’m an adult so I don’t get much out of Bluey, but I watch it with my 4 year old cousin sometimes. The positive effect it has on him is noticeable, at least when I compare his childhood to mine. When I was a kid, I rarely told my parents how I felt. It was never communicated to me that such a thing was ok, and I felt like I was burdening them if I told them how I was feeling. My cousin though? He tells his parents and other adults how he feels whenever necessary, and he knows he isn’t being a bother by doing so. He’s much happier than I ever was as a child, and it’s all thanks to shows like Bluey normalizing emotional stability and vulnerability with others.
Bluey is amazing! there’s even an episode where Bluey’s friend’s mom is struggling with postpartum depression. it’s so so important for kids to see stuff like this, even if they don’t fully understand it. Bluey’s mom offers her support and tells her “you’re doing a good job”. it’s a simple, yet effective message for kids. i think it teaches kids if you see someone struggling, a small act of kindness can go a long way.
@@crab2195 Yeah, stuff like this is very much so in the footsteps of Mr. Rodgers who also did not shy away from topics normally not approached with kids. Mr. Rodgers even did an episode that addressed the assassination of president Kennedy. Instead of pretending kids cant handle or understand complex emotions, it brings these topics to kids in an approachable and easy to understand way. It recognizes kids are people too. Another Bluey clip i love is one where the youngest kid has been appeasing other members of their family, like giving them their last snack, even tho internally the kid was not very happy about that. Its helping kids understand that sharing is still a wonderful thing, but also acknowledging that we can have feelings of not wanting to maybe give away our last snack, and that is okay too as long as we talk about it. A kid doesnt have to feel bad if they want the last piece of candy for themselves, its a natural feeling to have, and the episode ends with the other family members doing something they do not necessarily want to do in order to make the youngest feel better too. Its very sweet and emotionally educating. Its about give and take for those you love.
It’s a dumb gripe, but I think one of the most egregious things wrong with Bentkey is how absolutely atrocious the logo looks. I get what they were going for, but it’s screaming ‘graphic design is my passion’ with the logo being lopsided, the keyhole in the b isn’t centered, the weird lighting bit of the dark brass/bronze where it bends down, how weirdly small the k is … it’s such a mess and I hate it so much.
I have a feeling they realizes last minute that ‘Daily Wire Kids’ or ‘DW Kids’ gives the game away too easily so they came up with a new name on the fly and had someone rush a logo. One thing that has to be addressed is that animation is a labor-intensive medium and a lot of animated productions rely on artists who are members of The Animation Guild (IATSE 839). If Bentkey wants to expand on their animation efforts, they may have to rely on union workers they harp against, or go non-union and rely on younger, inexperienced artists that may not have the rights to a reasonable work schedule.

A reason for the Chip Chilla redesign is a pretty common issue with most animations when they move to series production: It's just a lot easier to animate. The original designs are much more conceptual and could work for a bumper or too, but not for cranking out however many 11-min episodes were ordered by Bentkey. A key reason why Bluey managed to avoid that issue was Joe Brumm, creator of Bluey, had worked on multiple kids programs as an animator and probably knew how to design both an appealing and easy to animate characters. Eric Bransum, however, has only worked as a screenwriter for various animated (and comedic rightwing media) projects, so the project probably had to bring in people to work on it...and checking them out on IMDB, these people are pretty seasoned in the field, but were probably told 'We need these many episodes in 'X' amount of time!' and focused more on making it quick rather than pretty and engaging.
I need to find a source for this, but I think Savy's video on the topic mentions that the studio got completely blindsided and didn't have many of the assets they needed to churn things out at the requested pace.
That early promotional image had a very Ren and Stimpy vibe, which knowing what we know now about the creator of that show, is not a vibe you want to create.
There's something so fitting about a company that loves draining the fun and uniqueness out of all their entertainment being run by a man named Boreing. It's basically cosmic that he would be an old-fashioned conservative.
The real sinister vibe comes from the fact that creatives who work in children's media tend to be very empathetic towards children, and I suppose in touch with their own 'inner child'. The creatives tend not to be deeply cynical people. Ben Shapiro has without a hint of irony talked about how he doesn't generally speak with his kids because children are "mediocre", and some of their personalities like Matt Walsh frankly shouldn't be left alone around children. @@Okuajub It was from one of those 'fireside chat'-type interviews the Daily Wire sometimes do. I couldn't tell you which one, but I did see it at the time. It's probably a couple of years old. He wasn't calling his own kids specifically mediocre, he was asked about his experiences as a parent and how he discusses ideas with his children. He said that he doesn't spend much time talking to his kids because children are generally 'mediocre'. Basically he views children like stupid adults that aren't worth his time, instead of children. It was a small throwaway comment but I've always been curious about the kind of parent someone like Ben Shapiro would be, so it stuck in my memory.
As somebody that often babysits two toddlers, I can tell you right now that there's no chance in hell this streaming service will take off when kids can watch Cocomelon and Peppa for free on youtube. Disney is literally the only brand with a big enough catalogue of beloved family classics to justify paying for their streaming service (and even then, Disney+ has steadily been adding lots of content for older audiences too).
They are selling this to parents, not kids. They just have to convince some nutjobs that their programming can bring their kids to the "right" side and parents may as well force their kids to watch it.

Eh, there’s a lot of people already using daily wires service, the price isn’t that crazy if you believe that Disney’s modern content is teaching your kids the wrong things. And it’s a value add to their premium membership since you get it free with an annual subscription. I’m not even sure what your broader point is. Even Disney can’t compete with free cocomelon on RUclips, kids don’t really care about Disney like they used to and competing with free and easy access is hard for any streaming service. The point is that people that use daily wire believe in restricting access to random RUclips content and are careful about what their children are allowed to watch, DW isn’t really competing with RUclips or Disney because they have stated and acted on the market they want to compete in. That market is one where the consumer is discerning and will avoid watching Disney and RUclips content that they find antithetical to their values.
@@sparks6177 I think another conclusion could be that its unlikely parents, already not on a DW subscription, would sign up specifically for their children, making its outreach limited. Like you imply, I think most parents will just show their children content on streaming services their already subscribed to. This may just be a way to create a content ecosystem that'll keep subscriber numbers from dipping and keep their money train going and/or making it so new subscribers are enticed to stay on past the free trial etc.
I think a small thing I noticed with Chip Chilla that, although not overtly political, does raise some red flags especially in comparison to Bluey: from what I've seen, it appears that the kids in Chip Chilla have little autonomy and are constantly told what to do by their parents, giving a subtle "your parents always know what's best" message, that isn't very healthy. Bluey has the Heeler kids navigate through life and finding solutions on their own with or without their parents guidance, and it even has the parents make mistakes and apologize to their children sometimes. I think the difference I notice is Bluey feels like watching kids play, it involves watching kids learn about the world, other people, and their emotions, and how to process that. There are many episodes where the kids in the series have to figure out problems on their own. But Chip Chilla doesn't have that. Nearly every bit of what I've seen involves the kids having to be told what to do, or what's right and what's wrong, or how they should process things by their parents. It's very clearly written by people who believe that children MUST obey their parents because their parents always have what's right for them in mind, but that's not a very good message, is it? Chip sounds like classic Authoritarian parenting where parents tell kids what to do. And they're expected to do so. it also means that the kids are going to have a hard time transition from children to adults with a definite. of rebellion about to Occur. Bluey is much more authoritative With children being respected supported nurtured and cared for in a clearly defined boundaries, but also respecting their autonomy. It can also be called response Parenting. The kids are going to have an easier transition from childhood to adult hood with less instinct to rebel because why would you rebel with a paren, Who is clear what their guidelines are and also gives you the freedom to do what is necessary for you.

@@RumchugMusic+ The trend I’ve noticed in the art/animation/writing field with creatives usually being liberal is that they are much more likely to represent/explore different narratives compared to their conservative counterparts. Imagine this: you want to write a story about someone. Wouldn’t it be boring to write multiple stories about extremely similar character archetypes? Very specific cis-hetero white guys that have basic jobs doing slightly similar things in different stories isn’t interesting. Creative people like tackling new things; being a new visual style, new conflicts or new backgrounds for the stories they write. Writing about the same guy in the same place doing the same things over and over would drive an artist absolutely mad. That’s why struggles such as racial disparities, wars, discrimination, dystopian ideas and poverty can be so intriguing to write/read. (Also, someone above me mentioned the fact that liberals also tend to break/not follow the status quo; which is also correct. Challenging status quo ideas is absolutely crucial in the process of creating/innovating interesting topics people typically want to read.)
Also another thing is that they are going into it with the focus on combating political “agendas” that they do not agree with instead of genuinely being interested in creating fun stories, hence why some are a bit soulless. I am not making it up as I seen some people themselves admit it through reviews. They have the right to do what they want but I eluding be surprised if it flops the way new movies/shows flop since it sort of does seem to lack people who love to create for more than just political reasons .

32:35, it's nice to see Sailor Moon still pops up for kids. I loved that show as a kid. Sailor Jupiter was my favorite, and her female archetype has had a lasting impression on me.

The fact that Jupiter, even in the pretty heavily edited version broadcast on TV in the US during the 90s, was a fairly masculine style character, extremely athletic and active, but at the same time had her own feminine side with her cooking, had a very strong impression on me at the time and may well have been one of the origins of my love of tomboy characters in general. The ability to make her not just a single archetype, but a multifaceted character, was something that I don't really remember seeing much anywhere else on children's TV (or really TV in general) at the time.
Another creator had an interview with someone from Bent Key Publishing based in the UK and they explained that "bent key" was basically meant to denote LGBTQ-ness in a way sooooo for Daily Wire is kind of misusing a term for their straight-laced product is kind of funny :)

I have a niece and nephews who effing love Bluey, and I've only ever felt a headache when I tried to watch it. But not after that clip of the little sister using the Freezez Game as a way to vent her feelings safely, I think maybe it's my niece and nephews that are making it unenjoyable. What a gem of a show.

They want to be part of the modern world but have their own version. In my opinion; Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, and Paramount Plus are overrated. It's why I'm more interested in a streaming service called FuboTV because it allows me to access programs from The Weather Channel. A personal favorite of mine is a show called "Tornado Alley" as you can satisfy your fascination with tornadoes via episodes grouped under one of the following secondary titles: 1.) "Real Time Tornado." 2.) "Big City Twister." 3.) "I Survived." 4.) "Twisted Beliefs."

Oh my word Mabel could probably serve as something to put children to sleep for nap time. Hearts in the right place but horribly uninteresting. Mr. Rogers understood that *neutrality* is, on occasion, untenable and even wrong. Describing Bluey as a conservative show is weird to me. It's hard to describe without sounding like I'm poisoning the well but I've also seen conservatives in the past dislike Bluey because Bandit and Chilli are too "soft", so, like.
It does really show a lot of different types of families, including disabled characters, and even touches on issues like infertility and mental health. All in all, it's far more inclusive and progressive than a lot of kids' content out there which is part of why it is wild to see it be claimed as conservative.
I was a huge fan of The Pendragon Cycle books as a kid, so I'm slightly destroyed by finding out the Daily Wire of all people are going to be adapting them to a film

Honestly, your point about BK still managing to showcase their biases is really interesting. Like, if ChipChilla had same sex parents or even a single parent, then it would have definitely been considered woke even if NOTHING ELSE changed. If Mabel wasn’t a white woman and were instead a woman of color, I have no doubt they would have the same woke critique even if literally nothing else changed. It just goes to show that, in their attempts to make non-offensive and non-woke content, they at best made dull uninteresting crap and at worst showcased how much they truly other marginalized groups and want to leave them out. I'm certain that Bentkey Snow White movie doesn't exist. They bought a polyester dress for Cooper (that's not historical to any period, but modern), put her in a forest, filmed her for a few minutes and made a teaser. Nothing more. Maybe they will make a thing, but given how close the Disney Snow White outrage and the teaser were to each other, there is no way they made a movie.

I noticed this with Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman in the film "Bombshell." In case you might be wondering; "Bombshell" was about the $€×û@l harassment scandal at Fox News. Charlize Theron portrayed Megyn Kelly and Nicole Kidman portrayed Gretchen Carlson. It didn't take much for the teams in wardrobe, hair and makeup to help Charlize and Nicole get into character. When I saw the publicity shot Charlize and Nicole did for the film alongside their co-star Margot Robbie; I was blown away by how much Charlize Theron looked like Megyn Kelly. Quite humorously my dearly departed friend Wendy thought Charlize was from France when I mentioned that she's from South Africa.

THANK you for mention the BG original story of Snow White which is boooonkers (as are many of the original BG stories. Also they are much shorter than the sanitized version. Brett Cooper is too old to play BG Snow White, who is seven when the story gets going. Also the evil queen is her real mom, not stepmom. Personally I’m looking forward to the scenes where the prince carries her corpse around for days because he can’t bear to be away from it.
And what I love about the sanitized version of Snow White is that the Brothers Grimm versions were in many cases also the sanitized versions (one big thing they did is change cruel mothers for stepmother's, because the morals of the public they were directed at, they also softened some of the more gore descriptions).

I wonder how many episodes of Ernest and Celestine they are going to end up having. The 2012 movie is a delight (and the director ran a behind the scenes blog on tumblr in the year or so running up to its release) and also... VERY MUCH SO about class and unity. I haven't seen the new film yet, the GKIDS release came out in september and i just haven't had the chance to chase it down. But that movie is about the duo going to Ernest's home country to fix a violin only to find out that all music has become outlawed and they join up with an underground resistance of musicians to help bring joy and music back to the land. So. Yeaaaah. Oh and the animation scene in France has been just popping off these past few years across all age groups. Thats probably why so many of the shows are French. Honestly one of (if not, perhaps the best?) animation news websites, Catsuka, is French and has been covering animation news from all over the world for over 20 years.

You should totally keep up with Bluey. It's a gem of show that not only tried to teach younger kids messages but also teaches adults how to listen and engage with children in helpful and productive ways. Also, it's a just a good show in general.

I just want to point out that Mr Dressup first aired on the 13th of February 1967, and Mr Rogers first aired on the 19th of February 1968. I wouldn't go so far to say either one is a knock off of the other, they're both excellent.

I love Ernest et Celestine, we watched it in french class in high school and it was very cute and sweet, and our class conversation about it still holds fond memories for me
The Clangers is one of the greatest UK kids' shows of all time. It's fun, charming, and creative. I used to watch that and Bagpuss every night before bed as a kid and it always made bedtime fun. It hurts seeing it on Bentkey.

Only because it's come up a whopping two times for me in the last three decades, but I have a little Mr. Dressup anecdote. I grew up in the middle of nowhere USA on a farm, but unbeknownst to me we were one of the first families to have a satellite dish hooked up to our TV. Not the sleek directv kind, but the giant two story tall satellite that was mounted in cement in the front yard (it came with our new house). This was the wild west days of airwaves, so if it was pointed in the right direction we could get shows from all over the American continent. Press the wrong button and everything was in Spanish, that sort of thing. Mr. Dressup was my absolute favorite show, and since it was on my tv in my house I had no clue that I was tuning in from so far away. Mr. Dressup was pivotal to my upbringing, teaching me the ABCs and everything. When I finally got to preschool I was very prepared, and when we sang the ABCs I was more than ready. I sang the loudest and most confidently all the way to the end when I shouted "w, x, y, and ZED!" The entire class laughed, including the teacher. "It's zee!" they said. Most people in the midwest in the early 90s had no idea that english was a little different in other countries, so it wasn't turned into a learning moment, but rather hung in the air as my first experience of shame. But as I got older I realized that I simply new more things than most of the people around me, a feeling I haven't been able to shake since. Thanks, Mr. Dressup, for the smugness that has helped me survive this big dumb world.

It’s worth mentioning too that conservative media has traditionally HATED Mr. Rogers, and upon his death, Fox News threw a fit about how he was terrible because he taught that every child was special and important. You know, really bad things to tell kids… I guess? I think it’s inevitable that any attempt the Daily Wire would make to try and copy Mr. Rogers would fall flat, because the very soul of the show was something they don’t like. If you take the celebration of individuality, creativity, free-thinking, and self-expression out of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, all you’re left with is an empty house without even a coat rack next to the door.

Which is why I thought it was so confusing how they praised Mr. Rogers to that capacity, especially since Mr. Rogers was very much anti-consumerist and people thought of him as very weird, especially with that famous episode where he had the character for François Clemens soaking feet in the same pool in response to strong racial tensions on how pools were still segregating bathers. I never understood it until much later and I wish I had watched it more when I was a kid.

The anti woke brainrot always existed. It just became better adapted to the current environment and also became saner. Within the old ones, you were lucky if they even at some level embraced games (they called it toys without educational value), comics (they knew about the politics in them), and stuff like anime (which they called both ultraviolent and made for PDF files). Also it contained way more overt antisemitism and conspiracist thinking than what we have today (seriously, they were looking for hidden hexagrams as proofs for an agenda).
I don't know how much of it is still archived, or are on servers people forgot about. At least (at one point, I don't know what happened to it) ConservaPedia had a list of movies with "leftist agenda", and they listed Alien as a "radical feminist movie", and pretty much used the same arguments as today's "women being strong in movies are unrealistic" type of guys.

The thing is with Chipchilla is that is IS actually conservative and you can see that if you compare the parenting between Bluey and Chip's dads. While Chip plays a bit too much his dad sees no problem in breaking his sons toys and ruining his bedroom and later making Chip clean it up himself, Bluey's dad is confronted with the same problem, he plays along with his daughters while slowly encouraging them to do what needs to be done with no harm done to property.
While chip's dad treats his kids like lessers bluey's dad sees his kids as equals and treats them roughly as such while using patient parenting styles while only snapping rarely and accidentally

As a person who grew up in an abusive conservative household in the south, it is a society that views children below the age of 16 as actual lessers. Not just my parents but my teachers and my community all agreed too. Kids are lesser people who deserve little to no respect and anything they say that contradicts an adult is arguing and needs to be punished (and in my case beaten) out of them. Bluey is an extremely hard show to watch for me cause it is everything I needed and wanted when I was younger.

Every now and then a clip of Bluey crosses my path and its such a sweet and informative show. Most clips seem to be about letting children know their emotions and feelings are valid, even when they are angry or confused, and if they just talk about their feelings with others we can all find a way to work things out together. Its a wonderful show.

Spot on. I’m an adult so I don’t get much out of Bluey, but I watch it with my 4 year old cousin sometimes. The positive effect it has on him is noticeable, at least when I compare his childhood to mine. When I was a kid, I rarely told my parents how I felt. It was never communicated to me that such a thing was ok, and I felt like I was burdening them if I told them how I was feeling. My cousin though? He tells his parents and other adults how he feels whenever necessary, and he knows he isn’t being a bother by doing so. He’s much happier than I ever was as a child, and it’s all thanks to shows like Bluey normalizing emotional stability and vulnerability with others.
Either that or they’re just genuinely funny moments, kids show or not.
Bluey is amazing! there’s even an episode where Bluey’s friend’s mom is struggling with postpartum depression. it’s so so important for kids to see stuff like this, even if they don’t fully understand it. Bluey’s mom offers her support and tells her “you’re doing a good job”. it’s a simple, yet effective message for kids. i think it teaches kids if you see someone struggling, a small act of kindness can go a long way.
@@crab2195 Yeah, stuff like this is very much so in the footsteps of Mr. Rodgers who also did not shy away from topics normally not approached with kids. Mr. Rodgers even did an episode that addressed the assassination of president Kennedy. Instead of pretending kids cant handle or understand complex emotions, it brings these topics to kids in an approachable and easy to understand way. It recognizes kids are people too.
Another Bluey clip i love is one where the youngest kid has been appeasing other members of their family, like giving them their last snack, even tho internally the kid was not very happy about that. Its helping kids understand that sharing is still a wonderful thing, but also acknowledging that we can have feelings of not wanting to maybe give away our last snack, and that is okay too as long as we talk about it. A kid doesnt have to feel bad if they want the last piece of candy for themselves, its a natural feeling to have, and the episode ends with the other family members doing something they do not necessarily want to do in order to make the youngest feel better too. Its very sweet and emotionally educating. Its about give and take for those you love.

One thing that has to be addressed is that animation is a labor-intensive medium and a lot of animated productions rely on artists who are members of The Animation Guild (IATSE 839). If Bentkey wants to expand on their animation efforts, they may have to rely on union workers they harp against, or go non-union and rely on younger, inexperienced artists that may not have the rights to a reasonable work schedule.

A reason for the Chip Chilla redesign is a pretty common issue with most animations when they move to series production: It's just a lot easier to animate. The original designs are much more conceptual and could work for a bumper or too, but not for cranking out however many 11-min episodes were ordered by Bentkey.
A key reason why Bluey managed to avoid that issue was Joe Brumm, creator of Bluey, had worked on multiple kids programs as an animator and probably knew how to design both an appealing and easy to animate characters. Eric Bransum, however, has only worked as a screenwriter for various animated (and comedic rightwing media) projects, so the project probably had to bring in people to work on it...and checking them out on IMDB, these people are pretty seasoned in the field, but were probably told 'We need these many episodes in 'X' amount of time!' and focused more on making it quick rather than pretty and engaging.
I need to find a source for this, but I think Savy's video on the topic mentions that the studio got completely blindsided and didn't have many of the assets they needed to churn things out at the requested pace.
That early promotional image had a very Ren and Stimpy vibe, which knowing what we know now about the creator of that show, is not a vibe you want to create.

There's something so fitting about a company that loves draining the fun and uniqueness out of all their entertainment being run by a man named Boreing. It's basically cosmic that he would be an old-fashioned conservative.
The real sinister vibe comes from the fact that creatives who work in children's media tend to be very empathetic towards children, and I suppose in touch with their own 'inner child'. The creatives tend not to be deeply cynical people. Ben Shapiro has without a hint of irony talked about how he doesn't generally speak with his kids because children are "mediocre", and some of their personalities like Matt Walsh frankly shouldn't be left alone around children. @@Okuajub It was from one of those 'fireside chat'-type interviews the Daily Wire sometimes do. I couldn't tell you which one, but I did see it at the time. It's probably a couple of years old. He wasn't calling his own kids specifically mediocre, he was asked about his experiences as a parent and how he discusses ideas with his children. He said that he doesn't spend much time talking to his kids because children are generally 'mediocre'. Basically he views children like stupid adults that aren't worth his time, instead of children. It was a small throwaway comment but I've always been curious about the kind of parent someone like Ben Shapiro would be, so it stuck in my memory.
As somebody that often babysits two toddlers, I can tell you right now that there's no chance in hell this streaming service will take off when kids can watch Cocomelon and Peppa for free on youtube. Disney is literally the only brand with a big enough catalogue of beloved family classics to justify paying for their streaming service (and even then, Disney+ has steadily been adding lots of content for older audiences too).
They are selling this to parents, not kids.
They just have to convince some nutjobs that their programming can bring their kids to the "right" side and parents may as well force their kids to watch it.

And it’s a value add to their premium membership since you get it free with an annual subscription. I’m not even sure what your broader point is. Even Disney can’t compete with free cocomelon on RUclips, kids don’t really care about Disney like they used to and competing with free and easy access is hard for any streaming service. The point is that people that use daily wire believe in restricting access to random RUclips content and are careful about what their children are allowed to watch, DW isn’t really competing with RUclips or Disney because they have stated and acted on the market they want to compete in. That market is one where the consumer is discerning and will avoid watching Disney and RUclips content that they find antithetical to their values.

Like you imply, I think most parents will just show their children content on streaming services their already subscribed to.
This may just be a way to create a content ecosystem that'll keep subscriber numbers from dipping and keep their money train going and/or making it so new subscribers are enticed to stay on past the free trial etc.
I think a small thing I noticed with Chip Chilla that, although not overtly political, does raise some red flags especially in comparison to Bluey: from what I've seen, it appears that the kids in Chip Chilla have little autonomy and are constantly told what to do by their parents, giving a subtle "your parents always know what's best" message, that isn't very healthy. Bluey has the Heeler kids navigate through life and finding solutions on their own with or without their parents guidance, and it even has the parents make mistakes and apologize to their children sometimes. I think the difference I notice is Bluey feels like watching kids play, it involves watching kids learn about the world, other people, and their emotions, and how to process that. There are many episodes where the kids in the series have to figure out problems on their own.
But Chip Chilla doesn't have that. Nearly every bit of what I've seen involves the kids having to be told what to do, or what's right and what's wrong, or how they should process things by their parents. It's very clearly written by people who believe that children MUST obey their parents because their parents always have what's right for them in mind, but that's not a very good message, is it?

Chip sounds like classic Authoritarian parenting where parents tell kids what to do. And they're expected to do so. it also means that the kids are going to have a hard time transition from children to adults with a definite. of rebellion about to Occur. Bluey is much more authoritative With children being respected supported nurtured and cared for in a clearly defined boundaries, but also respecting their autonomy. It can also be called response Parenting. The kids are going to have an easier transition from childhood to adult hood with less instinct to rebel because why would you rebel with a paren, Who is clear what their guidelines are and also gives you the freedom to do what is necessary for you.

The trend I’ve noticed in the art/animation/writing field with creatives usually being liberal is that they are much more likely to represent/explore different narratives compared to their conservative counterparts.
Imagine this: you want to write a story about someone. Wouldn’t it be boring to write multiple stories about extremely similar character archetypes? Very specific cis-hetero white guys that have basic jobs doing slightly similar things in different stories isn’t interesting. Creative people like tackling new things; being a new visual style, new conflicts or new backgrounds for the stories they write. Writing about the same guy in the same place doing the same things over and over would drive an artist absolutely mad. That’s why struggles such as racial disparities, wars, discrimination, dystopian ideas and poverty can be so intriguing to write/read.
(Also, someone above me mentioned the fact that liberals also tend to break/not follow the status quo; which is also correct. Challenging status quo ideas is absolutely crucial in the process of creating/innovating interesting topics people typically want to read.)
Also another thing is that they are going into it with the focus on combating political “agendas” that they do not agree with instead of genuinely being interested in creating fun stories, hence why some are a bit soulless. I am not making it up as I seen some people themselves admit it through reviews. They have the right to do what they want but I eluding be surprised if it flops the way new movies/shows flop since it sort of does seem to lack people who love to create for more than just political reasons .

The fact that Jupiter, even in the pretty heavily edited version broadcast on TV in the US during the 90s, was a fairly masculine style character, extremely athletic and active, but at the same time had her own feminine side with her cooking, had a very strong impression on me at the time and may well have been one of the origins of my love of tomboy characters in general. The ability to make her not just a single archetype, but a multifaceted character, was something that I don't really remember seeing much anywhere else on children's TV (or really TV in general) at the time.
Another creator had an interview with someone from Bent Key Publishing based in the UK and they explained that "bent key" was basically meant to denote LGBTQ-ness in a way sooooo for Daily Wire is kind of misusing a term for their straight-laced product is kind of funny :)

I have a niece and nephews who effing love Bluey, and I've only ever felt a headache when I tried to watch it. Why do conservative kids need their own streaming service? Shouldn't their mothers spend all day interacting with them, teaching them, caring for them? Hearts in the right place but horribly uninteresting. Mr. Rogers understood that *neutrality* is, on occasion, untenable and even wrong. That's part of why his show was interesting, even for adults -- he knew when to take a stand, if softly and subtlely.
Describing Bluey as a conservative show is weird to me. I can't say it's making any progressive statements either but it's a show that seems to understand its child characters as little humans who aren't just their parents property, which is something conservatives don't exactly agree with? It's hard to describe without sounding like I'm poisoning the well but I've also seen conservatives in the past dislike Bluey because Bandit and Chilli are too "soft", so, like.
It does really show a lot of different types of families, including disabled characters, and even touches on issues like infertility and mental health. All in all, it's far more inclusive and progressive than a lot of kids' content out there which is part of why it is wild to see it be claimed as conservative.
I was a huge fan of The Pendragon Cycle books as a kid, so I'm slightly destroyed by finding out the Daily Wire of all people are going to be adapting them to a film

Honestly, your point about BK still managing to showcase their biases is really interesting. Like, if ChipChilla had same sex parents or even a single parent, then it would have definitely been considered woke even if NOTHING ELSE changed. If Mabel wasn’t a white woman and were instead a woman of color, I have no doubt they would have the same woke critique even if literally nothing else changed. I'm certain that Bentkey Snow White movie doesn't exist. They bought a polyester dress for Cooper (that's not historical to any period, but modern), put her in a forest, filmed her for a few minutes and made a teaser. Nothing more. Maybe they will make a thing, but given how close the Disney Snow White outrage and the teaser were to each other, there is no way they made a movie.

I noticed this with Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman in the film "Bombshell." In case you might be wondering; "Bombshell" was about the $€×û@l harassment scandal at Fox News. Charlize Theron portrayed Megyn Kelly and Nicole Kidman portrayed Gretchen Carlson. It didn't take much for the teams in wardrobe, hair and makeup to help Charlize and Nicole get into character. When I saw the publicity shot Charlize and Nicole did for the film alongside their co-star Margot Robbie; I was blown away by how much Charlize Theron looked like Megyn Kelly. Quite humorously my dearly departed friend Wendy thought Charlize was from France when I mentioned that she's from South Africa.
The dailywire ceo Jeremy seems to be like Musk, every product MUST have something to do with him and his personal brand.

I wonder how many episodes of Ernest and Celestine they are going to end up having. The 2012 movie is a delight (and the director ran a behind the scenes blog on tumblr in the year or so running up to its release) and also... VERY MUCH SO about class and unity. I haven't seen the new film yet, the GKIDS release came out in september and i just haven't had the chance to chase it down. But that movie is about the duo going to Ernest's home country to fix a violin only to find out that all music has become outlawed and they join up with an underground resistance of musicians to help bring joy and music back to the land. So. Yeaaaah. Oh and the animation scene in France has been just popping off these past few years across all age groups. Thats probably why so many of the shows are French. Honestly one of (if not, perhaps the best?) animation news websites, Catsuka, is French and has been covering animation news from all over the world for over 20 years.

Of the Chinatown of Los Angeles isn't as well-known as the ones in San Francisco or New York City.

You should totally keep up with Bluey. It's a gem of show that not only tried to teach younger kids messages but also teaches adults how to listen and engage with children in helpful and productive ways. Also, it's a just a good show in general.

I just want to point out that Mr Dressup first aired on the 13th of February 1967, and Mr Rogers first aired on the 19th of February 1968. I wouldn't go so far to say either one is a knock off of the other, they're both excellent.

The Clangers is one of the greatest UK kids' shows of all time. It's fun, charming, and creative. I used to watch that and Bagpuss every night before bed as a kid and it always made bedtime fun. It hurts seeing it on Bentkey.

Only because it's come up a whopping two times for me in the last three decades, but I have a little Mr. Dressup anecdote. I grew up in the middle of nowhere USA on a farm, but unbeknownst to me we were one of the first families to have a satellite dish hooked up to our TV. Not the sleek directv kind, but the giant two story tall satellite that was mounted in cement in the front yard (it came with our new house). This was the wild west days of airwaves, so if it was pointed in the right direction we could get shows from all over the American continent. Press the wrong button and everything was in Spanish, that sort of thing. Mr. Dressup was my absolute favorite show, and since it was on my tv in my house I had no clue that I was tuning in from so far away. Mr. Dressup was pivotal to my upbringing, teaching me the ABCs and everything. When I finally got to preschool I was very prepared, and when we sang the ABCs I was more than ready. I sang the loudest and most confidently all the way to the end when I shouted "w, x, y, and ZED!" The entire class laughed, including the teacher. "It's zee!" they said. Most people in the midwest in the early 90s had no idea that english was a little different in other countries, so it wasn't turned into a learning moment, but rather hung in the air as my first experience of shame. But as I got older I realized that I simply new more things than most of the people around me, a feeling I haven't been able to shake since. Thanks, Mr. Dressup, for the smugness that has helped me survive this big dumb world.

I love Bluey for the kids. When I was looking after my nieces, we watched it a lot. I found it charming and adorable.

@@wabznasm9660 To me, what makes it seem like a grift is that they just chase trends of other successful products or services, and slam a "but it's conservative!" label on it. Razor blades? Chocolate bars? There's no way they'd be selling these things if it wasn't a chance to capitalize on a perceived controversy.
It's profitable for the people at the DW, they have become millionaires convincing boomers and gullible conservatives that the world is falling. But for the company in the long run, it's not profitable or a lasting business strategy. As they really have no stories to tell (as shown with their flop films and shows) apart from just being outraged all the time.
