Other than that the Dojo reminds me of the good era in gaming where they added unique interesting content with alot of replay ability.
I liked it (just finished ep2). But the wonky wrists and the bad tracking are annoying... as well as certain lightsaber swings not blocking the way they should in the training dojo... (when the droid swings at your left side and you hold your saber down to block it, it doesn’t block) also... you always seem to be too close to whatever you’re interacting with
Although it has the teleportation and lacks some of the things the PCVR has, this is overall a great port and probably once this Panasonic is over the studio will go back and patch it what they missed this round. The campaign is awesome, and with all three chapters (bought separately on quest) it's actually reasonably lengthy, and the dojos are infinitely replayable. I often get lost in them for hours. You absolutely feel like a boss Jedi after a few rounds of tossing people around, deflecting blasters, parrying other lightsabers, tossing your saber at storm troopers, etc. And so many great unlockables - custom saber hilts, crystal colors, alternate glove cosmetics, even the option to dual wield. Highly recommend. Even with the issues on the PSVR version I would still recommend it if that's what you have. It's just that good of an experience IMO.

Don’t know why they don’t have smooth turning and walking was turned off. They had that as an option for the Quest. And regarding the reason for the reason it’s 3 games instead of one big one, it’s due to the game realizing one episode every couple of months.
I refrained from calling this a "sloppy port" during the review, but that's what it boils down to. When bringing it over to PSVR they should have made it one game and allow you to seamlessly move from one episode to the next, and easy to move from one dojo to the next.
Thanks for the review, i really want this from a star wars fan position, but the click turn/teleportation puts it on hold for me at the moment. Hopefully they'll update in the near future. It does looks like good fun tbh.
I just finished this and there were some WOW MOMENTS 😳 The very beginning moment where you hyper Jump lookin out in space and then The empire ship pulls you out in middle of Hyper Jump and it’s hover above your ship, you see this beautiful red planet below.. It just blew my mind WOW. But in the end it left me with a feeling, what could this game could have been 😞 And it felt a little short and just left me thinking how this could have been, oh man... I do see why Dojo part was praised and it’s fun wised Devs would have put little more into game itself. What a potential Star War has and could’ve been much much more☝️
If you had told 12 year old me that I would be in Star Wars in VR I would’ve been blown away, but here I am scoffing at click-turning. “The cynicism is strong with this one.”
I’ve only played Ep1 so far. And I got to stage 17 in the Dojo but it’s getting very tough. I’m disappointed by the teleportation only. I kept scouring the options for a way to turn it off, and yeah I heard the audio bugs too. And found the ingame hand/wrist thing distracting, but despite the problems, I absolutely loved it. I look forward to playing Ep2 after work tonight.
While I've played through it and enjoyed it, there is one thine bugging me about it. The trophies, you get one for finishing each chapter, and I've got the screenshot to prove it.When you go to your list, it will sync with PSN but nothing will show. Not that I wouldn't have got this if I knew this was a think, just want to let people know that there is something not quite right. UPDATE: Trophies for all 3 parts now syncing as normal
Just bought this a yezterday and already beat the campaign the only real major complaint I have is play are feel rather restricted making some of the bigger climbing parts a tad frustrating and I guess the telaport thing but I didn't encounter any of the other bugs or issues you mentioned
Nice, I'm happy to hear that! I haven't checked back in with Vader Immortal since this launch review, so with any luck maybe a few of the bugs have been patched.
Got the disc version of this game recently for PSVR. Unfortunately the bugs you described are still in there. The weird wrist alignment, sound glitches and also the teleporting into the wall. Also found another annoyance when playing this game while sitting. I can't seem to reach the lightsaber or unlock tool. It's like the reach or field of play is very limited in this game. Maybe it's my position from the camera, but I did not experience the issue this bad with other games using the move controllers.
This was an Oculus exclusive? Wished there were more Oculus games coming over that are exclusive, like "The Climb", "Robo Recall" and "Arktika.1 . Especially "The Climb", since I have a fear of heights and was reminded of that yesterday, when I had to go on the roof to fix something. Was crawling instead of walking ^_^'
This game had to be ported on a strict time limit during a world pandemic that most likely complicated production. They are obviously trying to make this game as best as they could, they just need to add certain things after the games release. At least we actually have it on the system. With more locomotion options to come most likely. I think the dojo alone can sell this game honestly. Which doesn't need to have locomotion. Also the turning is relatively faster then most click turning so I appreciate that. You do need to turn quickly either 90 or 180 so I do think the click turning does a decent job. Similar to Raw Data
Feels more like something along the lines of those typical cheaply-made free movie tie-ins that Disney was too greedy to give away. Wait until it's like 5 bucks or less, and then you'll get your money's worth.
@@WithoutParole - I meant in the grasp of the over-all content quality. I get that it has slightly more production value than those, but not THAT much. I'm sure that a ton of these assets are basically plucked off the shelf at this point whenever they want to pump out another game, and I DEFINITELY don't see $30 worth of anything here. Just think about that compared to Jedi: Fallen Order. It's not even close to half the experience, or near the value per dollar.
Would be fantastic if the main games had something kind of a "amusement theme park ride experience" so it promotes the game in a fun way and it is the kind of stuff we would share with the friends. Just imagine a God of War ride...
I'm surprised VR fell behind on categories such as this and didn't build up more off Raw Data. After seeing how you can easily use a shield in SPARC, there should definitely be more sword and shield games.
I also encounterd a bug where in the first episode, where I just activated the ladder in the elevator (the alarms went off) and when the robot got on she never started to. Climb. Then u realized that the game was stuck and I had to do it again.
Cant get through Ep3,,open the door then walk down corridor to the end then get stuck in the wall,,cant move,,screen goes black with blue out of area type thingy,,,,,tryed many times and still happens,,hope they fix the bugs as well dissapointed.
I dunno man I think I'll just go play Raw Data with the sword fighter to get a lightsaber fix, Golem or even Shadow Legend for sword duels. Plus, when you're talking about a 2-hour experience that's kind of one-and-done, I'd think I would rather wait for that experience not to be spoiled by bugs or a lack of full locomotion. Maybe the dojo would still be fun in the meantime.
I still think it’s way too expensive. I got it for $20 on a sale and that’s still way more than the incohesive story and unintuitive controls are worth $15 at the very most with no sale, I think (The dojos are definitely the coolest part though)
Seeing Vader in VR is worth every penny absolutely amazing

Don’t know why they don’t have smooth turning and walking was turned off. They had that as an option for the Quest. And regarding the reason for the reason it’s 3 games instead of one big one, it’s due to the game realizing one episode every couple of months.
I refrained from calling this a "sloppy port" during the review, but that's what it boils down to. When bringing it over to PSVR they should have made it one game and allow you to seamlessly move from one episode to the next, and easy to move from one dojo to the next.
PSVR Without Parole they did this for the quest bundle as well. I don’t know why they couldn’t have combined it
I just don't understand why it didn't come out to all countries, once again my country was left out, a hug continues your good work.
Looks like a buy when on sale and smooth locomotion added for me
The person they used for the hand mo-cap was a graduate of the "Ricky Bobby School For Affordable Hand Modelling" :)
Thanks for the review, i really want this from a star wars fan position, but the click turn/teleportation puts it on hold for me at the moment. Hopefully they'll update in the near future. It does looks like good fun tbh.
I switched my psvr to oculus quest for that game, no regrets. 360 wireless gameplay solves click turning and it has locomotion there.
I just finished this and there were some WOW MOMENTS 😳
The very beginning moment where you hyper Jump lookin out in space and then The empire ship pulls you out in middle of Hyper Jump and it’s hover above your ship, you see this beautiful red planet below..
It just blew my mind WOW.
But in the end it left me with a feeling, what could this game could have been 😞
And it felt a little short and just left me thinking how this could have been, oh man...
“The cynicism is strong with this one.”
lol that actually puts it into perspective very well.
UPDATE:
Trophies for all 3 parts now syncing as normal
Trophies seem glitched for some people, but not others. Hopefully they can fix that soon. Also there are trophies for each Training Dojo too! :D
No teleportation in the PC version, I'm surprised it wasn't included. Did you check settings?
yup
Just bought this a yezterday and already beat the campaign the only real major complaint I have is play are feel rather restricted making some of the bigger climbing parts a tad frustrating and I guess the telaport thing but I didn't encounter any of the other bugs or issues you mentioned
Nice, I'm happy to hear that! I haven't checked back in with Vader Immortal since this launch review, so with any luck maybe a few of the bugs have been patched.
I want to see a comparison review/analysis to the Oculus version.
Thanks for the review Brian! I guess better wait for the update...
Awesome review as always I'll wait for the patch.
I play this game and I completely agree with this review.
Thanks for the review will be sure to to pick up
Feels more like something along the lines of those typical cheaply-made free movie tie-ins that Disney was too greedy to give away. Wait until it's like 5 bucks or less, and then you'll get your money's worth.
I didn't get that feeling at all (obviously) but it's always nice to hear alternate viewpoints from other gamers! :D
:::cries in Ghostbusters Firehouse: Now Hiring and GF: Showdown:::
I have the same feeling from what I've seen so far. I'll wait for a sale.
Honestly, it's got some robust fun to be had in the dojos.
This is awesome on Oculus. Makes me want a full length VR jedi experience.
I'm not ashamed to confess that I'm a teleporter fan through and through, with skyrim vr being an exception.
Was there an update to fix any of the issues (tracking, lack of free walking)? Or still the same release game?
As Always thanks for the great review!😺
I also encounterd a bug where in the first episode, where I just activated the ladder in the elevator (the alarms went off) and when the robot got on she never started to. Climb. Then u realized that the game was stuck and I had to do it again.
This game should just be beat saber where you slice up yoda and sam jackson heads that are flying towards you.
Great writing BP!
Cant get through Ep3,,open the door then walk down corridor to the end then get stuck in the wall,,cant move,,screen goes black with blue out of area type thingy,,,,,tryed many times and still happens,,hope they fix the bugs as well dissapointed.
great review! can't wait to play this for myself. I always start here when a new vr game comes out. game cats 4 life!
@@larryvr8116 Thank for the feedback! I'm hoping to catch it on a sale and with some hopeful improvements. =)
There is free locomotion for the oculus version. Probably they will patch it soon for psvr . But it’s still fun to play as a Star Wars fan
This review will inform my purchase cuz I've heard mixed reviews. Let's see.
If you get put in the wrong place just hold the options button and that recalibrates you
I still think it’s way too expensive. I got it for $20 on a sale and that’s still way more than the incohesive story and unintuitive controls are worth
$15 at the very most with no sale, I think
(The dojos are definitely the coolest part though)
I definitely had run ins with some bad tracking glitches but it was only a minor annoyance. Loved the experience overall.
Another good review. People are understandably upset about the teleport only, but overall it does look like a very good experience.
It's fun to deal with Vader, HeHAAA~
you canchose to move with th eanalog stick in quest 2 version, not the same in psvr?
Is it worth buying???
