I haven’t tested that one, I was also thinking about it though. However, I went for the RF 24-105 F4 L. It’s more expensive, but it is much better quality (L-series) and had a fixed aperture of f4! 😊 I’ve got a video on it here: ruclips.net/video/7iXgcYrmNak/видео.html
I have the 24-240. It should get rid of the vignetting that happens at 24mm on my eos rp. And it’ll be great to have an effective 380mm focal length since it’s apsc!
Oh that’s the Zhiyun Crane M2S. I did end up selling it though… it won’t work well with bigger zoom lenses. You probably need a larger gimbal for that 😊
Yup! I’ve tested it for a couple days. It’s a very nice range and aperture, however I had to return it because of the constant noise - with lens IS enabled. Was impossible to do video with it 😔
Hi Bram. Really nice channel. I am surprised that you don't have thousands of subs yet :) You deserve it. I am wondering how do you find the video AF after a few months of use? You mention in this video that the AF hunts sometimes. I saw it in other reviews too. I am still undecided whether to get an R7 :) And the black friday sales are just about to expire :)
Thanks for the kind words, Marcin 👊 I think this is a great fit with the R7 for photography. It also works very well for video... however, more for static setups, vlogs, or shots where you're not switching your focus point too fast. So it really depends what you want to use the lens for. Of course there are better ones in this focal range (I've recently reviewed the RF 14-35mm or Sigma 18-35mm). If you want to be more capable and "free" with video recording, I'd save up and get one of those lenses instead! In terms of the R7... I highly recommend it. Even after the honeymoon phase, I still absolutely love it and it's totally worth the money! Maybe I should do a 6-month review 🧐😃
Nothing wrong with this review or the lens it covered but I was rather expecting a review of the Laowa 10mm cookie or even hearing Laowa was pushing the limits and putting out an RF-S variation of their faster zero-D MFT. Do we need autfocus at 10mm?
I was looking at the Laowa as well as you say MF is fine at that focal distance. Having watched this review I'm less certain of buying the RF16 so may just buy the RF35 as well. I need a review in the RF50 f1.8 on the R7 as I think its going to behave like the 16 as well.
Yes that looks like a nifty little ultra wide 😃 I'd still prefer autofocus though, at least for what I do. Wouldn't it also be 10mm full frame? So it'd be like 16mm equivalent?
@@coppensbram yes 16mm so the AF really isnt important - id be using MF for establishing shots anyway. Set it at a meter ahead and everything will be in focus anyway

@@coppensbram Listen, today while I was browsing your RUclips channel a couple of exciting ideas came to mind which can help you to go viral and that I wanna discuss with you. I hope you like this🤓
I don’t have that lens unfortunately… I use the RF 24-105 F4L. The Sigma is probably a very good lens no doubt… but if you’re looking at buying new glass for a Canon R camera, I’d suggest investing in newer RF glass. Hope this helps! 😊
On a budget i would look for a basic 50mm macro lens. For example the Sigma 50mm 2.8 Macro is incredible. Very bad, loud autofocus but super smooth in manual focus which is anyways used mostly in macro beside the also very well internal focus stacking of the R7 (even with the adapted sigma EF lens!) And unlike many other 3rd party lenses, the 50mm 2.8 sigma is also working very well with the IBIS of the R7, i cant say that about most other 3rd party lenses or even some stabilized Canon EF lenses! I tried the RF 16 in a shop, thankfully i could test it before buying otherwise i would have to drive once more to the shop to bring it back. On full frame it was just too bad. At first glance it looked "ok", but somehow too tight. Until i realized the RF 16 is based on CORRECTIONS, turn them off on a full frame camera and you will see the ugly side of the RF 16. Besides the abnormal bad image quality (on full frame!!!) the price isnt justified as well. I dont see this price point as good or anything with this performance. Canon really think they get away with everything at releasing reused optics for a higher price on RF mount and producing this RF 16 which is at best worth 100$ and the only reason i would see myself to get a RF 16 - the R7s IBIS probably accept the RF 16 better than anything i got (3rd party EF and manual focus stuff without electric connections at all) with 16mm. If you like zooms and do product photography you probably will LOVE the EF-S 17-55 2.8. Its the BEST lens i had on APS-C so far long ago, sadly i sold it as i upgraded to full frame (since i have now the R7). I just cant tell you if the IBIS+OIS is acceptable with the R7 (but it is with 28-135 IS USM)
I think it really depends what you do... a 50mm lens is a great option, but it's more like an 85mm on the R7. I like having a bit wider lenses for video etc. But for photography I definitely like that focal length! 😃 I tried the EF-S 17-55... I actually had 3 of them... but they all had lens-creep and they are too noisy to do video with (if you have the lens IS on). I just wish they'd make an RF version of this... would be a winner! Which full frame camera did you upgrade to?
@@coppensbram i „upgraded“ to the R7, so APS-C from the full frame EOS RP I also tried the R6 but i was absolutely not happy with the R6 so i ended up with keeping RP and get the R7 for wildlife and video additionally
Hi, awesome content! Greetings from Argentina! Can you please drop the link for the ND filter seen in minute 1:17? That'd be very much appreciated. Also, what mode you used to shot on 2:28? I just got the R7 with the RT 18-150mm kit lens and I'm thinking about getting the RF16mm for vlogging and better bokeh. Just learning, though.

If you don't mind going back to the ef mount, there is the 18-35mm f1.8 from sigma and the 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 kit lens from canon, they are both apsc lens, the sigma one is absolutely sharp but is a bit old, so the AF is not incredible but make the job and the canon one is not very sharp but is the same as a 16mm for full frame
Good recommendations! I've got the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 coming in for a couple days this week. I'll do a video of it, combined with the R7! I'm also looking at the RF 14-35 F4L. 😃

It happens, but not all the time, don't worry. Of course it's never on the right moment... for me mainly when I was filming b-roll. I can't really put a rule to it too, at first I thought it was because of shooting against the light, but it happened in other situations as well.
