From what I understand he was one of the most well liked people in his school, but after that day he was never the same and he’s now an old, bitter, abusive, angry man who nearly died of liver failure from alcoholism. Joe, your explanation of how an adolescent grows up shapes the choices and behavior he/she makes is absolutely spot on. This is the argument I bring up with gun control. There is absolutely no one pushing legislation to get to the root of the real problem with gun violence and that is the learned behavior aspect of violent culture from abusive broken homes, drugs, gangs, mental illness and a whole lot of other psychological, emotional and social problems rooted in gun violence. It's not the gun, it's the individual wielding the gun. All proposed legislation is aimed at the firearm and not the root cause of the violence. When you get caught for speeding, the police doesn't ticket the vehicle your driving, they ticket you for breaking the law, yet that's what all new gun legislation is aimed at ...punishing the gun and not addressing the real cause of the problem which I mentioned.

Wow Joe describing my life child hood

  • @megamike420
    @megamike420 3 месяца назад +6

Some of that hit home big time.
I had an extremely rough childhood from being sexually abused, then in a car accident with my mom at age seven ish in which she was paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life. Thankfully I was unhurt or was it good being as my life has overall been terrible.
Going from having a mom with a good job, living in a house and having a Nintendo as well as almost every teenage mutant ninja turtle figure made to living in an apartment until leaving at 18.
From then on I had minor trouble with the law here and there and ended up eventually being labeled as a violent offender in 2011.
I stuck my claim of innocence but eventually took a plea as I was in a county jail for eight months before trial as well as originally looking at I think it was over twenty five years. Thankfully one part was dropped as there was no proof and they started offering deals.
Finished one year in a county and did pre release and four years of probation with absolutely no problem.
You had to register your address for ten years before you no longer have to do so. I did that and had no issues.
During probation I worked at the same place for over three years working from bottom to store manager before eventually leaving due to low pay and availability issues.
Also within the first year and a half ish I reunited with my son who I hadn't seen the whole time and had visitation because he was in the care of his grandparents for some reason his mom gave him up to them for a year.
Anyway I got to my son pretty often as he was only an hour ish away.
As soon as his mom got him back she completely cut me off for a long time.
Eventually she started letting me call weekly with plans to see him.
Until I refused to get back with her as I knew it wouldn't work.
Eventually I again was able to call with the promise to see him.
One Sunday I call, no answer. Call later she answers and says never call or bother us again.
I haven't spoken to my son in many years now.
After that I started falling apart slowly.
I got a pup that was my best friend and she was the best dog ever. "Gorgeous" almost all white small pot mix with a tan spot on her body and one on her head. Best dog ever! Never chewed up anything or even tried but had a bad habit of eating any loose thing like sticks, pebbles just literally anything.
I bought and payed for a car over at least a year to two at a hundred dollars a week was payed off at that time and I traded up for a truck which meant way more gas as well as that hundred a week payment ECT.
I was scraping by but my dog always has a huge bag of iams.
Truck broke down from the radiator, had to finance the work bumping my weekly to like one hundred twenty five then shortly after blew a head gasket.
Could not afford to fix it and lost it as well as my car I traded.
Also my dog during this time got sick. I had no money to take her to the vet and was saving to when someone called the humane society because she was getting very skinny fast.
They came talked to me. Allowed me to take her to the vet in the next day or two when I had enough saved. They never gave me a prognosis but gave me a prescription for a de wormer and there was another test they would run if she didn't start to gain weight.
She also was going potty well but after the dewormer she soon went and I recall laughing it was making noise being runny but I was happy she was going.
She gained a pound a day for a few days but they showed up saying they wanted to take her overnight to run that test even though I told him about her gaining etc.
I said I'm willing to do anything to help her and let them take her.
They did not give her back.ni kept calling when eventually they told me I was not getting her back and charges were being filed on me for animal abuse by neglect or starvation I forget but it was far from the truth.
I eventually pled no contest and got a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge.
Couldn't own an animal for one year and that was the sentence.
It was considered civil which also means you get no lawyer unless you pay for one.
I love her and I'm happy she most likely went to a great family possibly with kids which I know she would love.
Also she never barked unless I got down and growled at her to play then she's bark until I told her it was enough and she'd stop.
Great girl I will always miss.
I kept her name tag for many years but my bag was stolen while homeless which is yet to come.
I then left my concrete construction job eventually due to being so miserable as well as having to get rides to work etc.
Went through a few shit jobs to get a great one building swimming pools from the ground up until my supervisor I had to stay with out of town got blacked out drunk and tried to assault me.
During COVID so I struggled terribly and eventually got unemployment but it took forever because of being backed up.
Finally bought a new car only to total it on my way home the day I went and registered it. Totaled it and I was sober.
I say that because I was high on marijuana 90% of my time driving but crash sober? Was working another concrete company and aging has to get rides also while dealing with two alcoholic co workers one of which treats me like shit and gets worse the drunker he was in the day.
Quit that and I also rented rooms where I lived and had a piece of shit roommate who was doing drugs that kept him up at all hours and harassed my neighbors and landlord who asked me "what the hell was that guy on?"
Eventually shoulder checks me and we tussle.
I'm so strong at that point from concrete work the he bumped me on my left shoulder and I'm right handed but out of instinct I grabbed his throat with my left and in the few seconds it took to get to the ground he was red and gagging.
I let him go and apologized for letting things get that far. He was idiot of course and just laughs saying "Your really strong!"
I felt bad and told him he could finish his month he paid and then go as long as I don't catch him using again.
I catch him again soon and kick him out, not physically.
He presses charges but not for quite some time after.
I forget what they were trying to get me with but it was eventually dropped to a misdemeanor assault which I took.
Partially because he couldn't testify I assume.
I found after that he was in jail arrested for GTA, DUI heroin and possession and resisting.
He must of made a deal as I checked the jail roster and he was out in a month.
I kept track because during the legal stuff he kept being seen in the area I lived.
Anyway after that I was getting a new roommate on my lease and my landlord decided to make me move after eight years.
No reason giving but I knew it was because they were shit holes literally falling apart.
They were rented to violent and sexual offenders.
The one nest to mine has been ripped down and the nest one has the entire ceiling cave in which mine was doing.
So they were avoiding a lawsuit.
I sold literally everything I had including a huge Lego and action figures collection and became homeless.
Left to go somewhere warm and ended up in San Diego.
Didn't work too expensive so stayed a year ish, went to Houston Texas and was homeless for over sixteen months with minimal work to none and now I'm in key west fl homeless.
That is just the gyst of it and I'm missing a ton plus stuff out of order possibly slightly.
Hope someone see's the tragedy that is my life and why I kind of just hope I don't wake up anymore.
But on a positive I was considered a violent felon but no longer have to claim either as it's been thirteen years since my only felony.
Guess that isn't as bad as some with my resume of shit shows.
    Thanks if you read!

It amazes me how different countries view certain substances like alcohol so very differently. When i was in Czech Republic (Prague) I was grocery shopping and noticed one of the grocery store employee crack a tall boy and just casually drank it and chatted up with his colleagues before his shift started. In plain sight on the sale floor. Ive been all over the world and have seen a lot but that really took me by surprise. I see things from so many different points of view. I take in account for how my actions are going to affect others and how their actions will affect the next person. I mentally put my self in other people's place and try to see things threw their eyes their situation their thoughts. Empathetic to a fault. And to my surprise you are in so many ways the same. • @WrecklessEnterainment
      @WrecklessEnterainment 3 месяца назад +1

Typically if they suspect you of being intoxicated they’ll do what’s called a field sobriety test which consists of a general gaze nystagmus test which is where they check your eye movement. Then normally a walk heel to toe, turn and walk back and a test where you elevate 1 foot and balance and count up to a certain number. Some times they will also do a breathalyzer test on the side of the road but it’s not admissible in court. You can say no to any of these tests but they will immediately suspend your license and get a warrant for a blood draw to test for alcohol content.

I'm Irish and I've heard some fucking horror stories about what people would get up to back in the 70s, 80s, and to a lesser degree the 90s. Like, someone would have 2 or 3 whiskies and maybe a pint inside 90 minutes during a "quiet one" after work and confidently get behind the wheel of their car and drive home, and nobody would give them shit about it.
For me, if I've had a few drinks of an evening I don't feel confident driving until at least after lunch the next day, and this is a pretty common attitude with people my age.
