I bought this game without any knowledge of Warhammer besides "loud screaming and louder, hilarious weaponry." It's now become a gateway into 40k for me and I really enjoy playing it with my friends.
I'm a new player as in the last few days. I got it for 17.99 i figured id give it a shot. Glad I did I really enjoy it for a pastime and something to yell laim warhammer qoutes at
The plot of the game isnt delivered in the same style as say L4D as I'd compare the whole Interrogator Rannick stuff most closely "compares". A lot of the Darktide plot, like Vermintide 2 before it, is delivered through progression character dialogue which gets added/taken out as updates roll out. Granted, I'd also compare the Rannick traitor plot to the main 13 missions of Verm 2 and say it is more than considerably smaller for being the 'plot' most people will mind any attention to. The actual interesting stuff is in the banter between your mission person over the radio and between your characters in mission. This is also the stuff that will point to, and can be used to, infer the direction of the story moving forward. Such as the Sister Hive City of Tertium being a potential new locale and it being in much worse shape, deeper recesses of Tertium, and Sergeant Major Morrow having potentially 'other than pure' motivations and a particular history with Genestealers. That said its impossible to ignore that its been nearly a year and very little Live-Service has happened in this live-service. What we've gotten has been pretty good; bunch of weapons, couple maps, new dialogue, mission modifiers. But for a year's worth of time, and barring the quality of life changes that havent happened, it leaves a bitter taste for players especially not a great motivator for people to pay attention to those smaller details a whole lot. Nor is it a motivator to be invested for many people. Not having any new classes, characters, enemies, separated resources between characters, a crafting system with locks, luck based stat system for equipment (lets you do minor stat building but more likely to get trash than anything good), perk(blessing) system that is only broken(bad)-essential doesnt leave much variance for weapon builds. There are many that if you can have a blessing on a weapon you're doing yourself a disservice by not getting it. Theres so much to love, and so much to feel bad for. I'm generally not that upset with what we have so far because I never expected Fatshark to achieve AAA CoD/Overwatch/Fortnite levels of flooded diluted content. What's there is genuinely very enjoyable in terms of gameplay. Many systems can and should be changed. But the core is great. In a market full of boring content drips, I'd rather have them move forward slowly (even if its very slowly) and build a game thats regarded highly very much like they did with Vermintide 2 before it. Which, imo, has landed itself as being a considerably better game than its comparisons, namely Left4Dead, as a game without mods.
The "story" is balls in Darktide, there's no way around it. No want actually thinks the radio banter as "interesting" story-wise, nor the random lines said by characters in-mission. This is just vapid apologetics to the absurd.
@@Razumen I would entirely disagree. Some of the most fun I had in Verm2 was reading into what the banter between the characters meant. Probably the peak of it with my friends was prior to the release of Warrior Priest and how they did week(s?) of clues leading up to it. We solved most of them before truely looking them up and finding the confirmed answers. I agree the Rannick stuff is pretty flat. It doesn’t do anything to help people understand what’s going on as a base plot. Just distrust, war, and death, oh and heretics. I remember reading the short stories connected to the class announcements and found those genuinely really good. Particularly the Ogryn Tig and his squad. Those stories, like the banter, act as sub-plot to me. Over the patches it’s been cool hearing more dialogue giving peeks into what the story direction is *supposed* to be. I won’t argue, the follow through has been bad because they’ve been grinding their development wheels on crafting/lock system that they won’t just give up on. Other than small injections of banter and the couple added missions the story still is following “find the traitors and those who helped them”. It hasn’t progressed much yet. But as they stated they haven’t stopped working on other stuff. So I’ll be very interested to see if my inferences based on the dialogue and banter are right, or come to fruition at some point in the future. Maybe somethings don’t as the direction of the game changes. To me that’s fun. Speculation and conspiracy from my own characters about the happenings of our story is interesting to me. That’s also currently a large piece of the story building so far. If you don’t like it that’s fair. I would argue for a game that’s repetitive in nature (fight horde on set of maps, rotate, improve skills, craft gear, repeat), it’s a pretty neat way to add replayability if you’re listening closely and remembering dialogue. After my first playthrough of Verm2 I wasn’t paying attention to main campaign plot but more so the banter (that lead to more plot+maps), and character development (who is Saltzpyre really? It’s actually quite tragic but inspiring). I’d personally never want to replay something like L4D because to me there’s no reason to without mods; it’s gameplay doesn’t capture me and it’s story outside of character banter was only okay imo. Albeit they did have pretty personable and relatable motives/back stories. In that regard I think I can understand the discouragement to dig deeper. But I wouldn’t call L4D players who did “vapid apologists”.
@@Heavynaut No, I'm not calling L4D players vapid apologists, I'm calling you one. Because you just wrote a wall of BS trying to play up banter as a good replacement for actual story. Hint, it isn't.😂
@@Razumen I didn’t say you were calling L4D players that. I was stating that I get your position about DT and not liking its delivery, but even in a case where I feel the same I was saying using personable attacks is unreasonable. I wouldn’t call a couple of paragraphs a wall of text. I never said it was a replacement. I said I thought it’s use is pretty cool, and accomplishes some interesting things that a forwardly delivered plot doesn’t. And also agreed that the Rannick plot isn’t that good. I get the feeling you didn’t read the whole thing? Or didn’t spend much time to process it.
I've been a 40k nerd since 1993 and the one thing i got from darktide was the amazing thrill of finally firing a boltgun the way i imagined it. Feels so good to squeeze off a round at a heretic and see him pop! LOVE IT!!
@enovos3138 totally. I was the sniper type of class, forget the name, and spent all my time using lasguns before I was able to get a boltgun. Once I could I never looked back or at any other weapon. I feel like the holy bolter fits all occasions.
@@ciscornBIG I'm more of a plasma gun kind of guy myself, Especially after it's been buffed. From deleting specialists and turning bosses into soup, It really is the guardsman power Trip
I'm new to their games but seeing the reddit post from 5 years ago describing their development process is hilarious because it is EXACTLY how they have handled darktide :D
@@fripfrop_ I was in the same boat never having had contact with this studio before. I never will again, obviously, and am genuinely interested to see this example of non-Darwinian survival. However, we can hope that after the console port that they will finally start to work on the game... a year after launch. 😕
The game is great, the problem is the 40K community is toxic; YES, there were issues, the game is far from perfect (like recanted promises). More importantly, the core gameplay, engine and mechanics are amazing.
@@jamesv.7041 Absolutely, but then again they do not add much content(I think one or two maps last time I played 2 months ago) and it becomes repetitive. I had max level after a week or some, and the difference in buffs and gear is not a great incentive. Would recommend as a quality game, but it pales in comparison to Vermintide 2.
Great, satisfying, addictive core gameplay. Brilliantly immersive art and audio design. Industry-leading incompetence and hubris from their producers/management. Their actual creatives who made the gameplay, the art and the audio hit it out of the park. But the great work of those creators is saddled and dragged down by the mobile-game mentality of producers who can't wrap their heads around the reality that mobile game bs drives PC/console gamers away. On top of the absolute incompetence of the producers in not building the necessary in-house systems to ensure game-breaking bugs and technical issues don't make it into the game (failed) and if they do are resolved rapidly and with urgency (failed). The game is good. You will have fun. And you will likely end up where many of us did frustrated at the goodness and fun being eventually buried under boneheaded producer/management decisions and systemic incompetence to produce a functional game.
first 20 hours you have fun, next 20 you are still enjoying the game and after that, you learn why the interest for darktide dropped to the floor after launch, and why vermintide 2 is still more popular than it.
@thedefense381 right. but we all know darktide will, one day, probably, be absolutely amazing. whilst its a bit predatory and mismanaged to sh!t, it might at least be better to pick it up earlier in ita life before they (inevitably, lets be honest) start stacking on dlc, uping the price, or both
Man darktide was the one game I actually had a wanting to put time into it’s a shame that the game launched buggy and idk if it got better because everyone kind of just stopped talking about it
Bought it about a week ago. Now into 30+ hours of gameplay. I agree i feel like its lacking something. I think storywise, it feels like its a prequel to something. It probably is because they say the game is a live service. But gameplay wise, i like it. Whats better than purging the heretics and the enemy of the Emperor?
@@MB-rt9dq Not wrong. The story is probably the weakest part unfortunately. It's amazing how much art and detail goes into something and the story just kinda feels like a backseat. The true issue is that there isn't enough assassination/mission variety. having only two missions and both being the exact same boss is a huge fucking letdown.
I loved this game upon release playing about 200 hours but it's been difficult getting back into it with the convoluted crafting system and RNG mission select.. If I come back, it's because I want to see the new content
I love Darktide and feel like I kind of got my money from but it holy hell did they drop the ball in every way outside of the feel of the combat and the tone/look of the world.
@@ashrimplecreature9210 they moved a majority of the team from verm to Darktide a year or two before it's released. Even with that, Vermintide 2 is still coming out with more content
As someone who purchased the game day 1, it wasn’t until now (almost a year later) that I can finally play the game without random crashes hurting my progression. I can say now that it is a good and fun game! Hopefully they make a comeback with a bigger future update and bring back players. The game is good but it released in a questionable state.
This game is like a World Eaterd blood murder high. Feels euphoric and liberating whike you play the missions, but everything in between just drags on and sucks and is just awful. 8/10, please wait a year before playing, unless you are already addicted to little plastic men.
This is a generous review and I think kind of leaves out the most important part of that reddit post. These over promises aren't just a one off. This company actively lies to their player-base, under performs and then obfuscates around the simple solutions to those problems. Its not mismanagement, it borders on false advertising and a crime where I live. Had this company had to deal with even the smallest amount of accountability their might even be a law suit. First and last time I will ever buy their product.
I agree that is it blatant false advertising. I myself vehemently await future updates that will bring more life to the game and I can say I wasn't harsh enough. At the same time I don't like to get too negative about stuff since the video itself is mostly me trying to make dumb jokes about gameplay, I truly enjoy the game to this day and it is exhausting looking forward to each comm link only to be let down 99% of the time.
The worst part are the apologists who tell you to touch grass and wave off any demands for accountability for Fatshark releasing a clearly incomplete product by saying "Well, I'm having fun!" Fatshark needs to receive a PR lashing like Hello Games with No Man's Sky to ever change.
lol keeeeep cryyyyying, ive spent 30+hrs last 5-6 days on it with friends and its been absolute amazing, you guys really need to get your thumb out of your ass and stop whining, its definitely in a better state than it was at release and if they keep giving us content they will have players. Yo ass probably just another one crying cause they getting their ass spanked at tier 3.
i never understood fatshark because that handled vermintide II greatly but sort of messed up with darktide just a few years later. just sort of confuses me how the situation changed so quick
@@sovietunion7643vermintide 2 was a mess on release, it only got good a while after launch. it looks to be (hopefully) headed in the same direction with darktide.
I've quit the game entirely after 300 hours. No point in playing when there's no mission select, weapon crafting is complete RNG, and there's no new classes coming. Not to mention they keep nerfing strong weapons instead of buffing weak weapons.
@@joseffranz3872 Well I didn't spend any money aside from the initial purchase price. They can take their stupid "engagement mechanics" and stuff 'em. I got what I felt was my money's worth from the purchase price and dipped. The sad part is, I would have been willing to pay for some cosmetics if Fatshark wasn't so hellbent on screwing over the community.
I was also wondering where the Warp/Hell Darktide disappeared to. There was a ton of hype even from the point the first trailer dropped, then it culminated during the time of its release and since maybe the second week after I heard only incredibly rarely about the game, and mostly in a negative tone. Sometimes I honestly wonder if I only imagined the game existing as even here on spam-everything-at-everyone RUclips I never get videos about it recommended and they get mostly only very low views (sub-10k for a game crazily hyped up like this one is nothing).
The only things that are truly flawless in DT are: -Jesper Kyd's music (you simply can't *not* vibe to it) -weapon sounds (from the lasguns' crackle to bolter *simply existing*)
FS botched the everloving hell out of this game and continue to deliver anemic updates with very little in the way of additional story or substantial content (a few weapons an a couple missions mostly made up of bits of previous locations), and they seem dead set on keeping this ridiculous gacha game disguised as a store and crafting system. .. but I can't stop playing it. I played for 60 hours at launch, then didn't play for almost 2 months. I'm now at 600 hour played with one of every class leveled to at least 60 (mods can keep tracking your level up progress past the maximum), including 2 Psykers at lvls 100 and 70, and have nearly all the weapons I've wanted to try (lol you're gonna be constantly poor on your Veteran, so many dope guns to try, plus the grind for Power Cycler IV blessing lol). ...And no end in sight to my addiction. With so many poor decisions regarding the game's front end experience, progression mechanics, and drip feed of content, it's really a testament to how insanely fun the core gameplay loop is. My best advice is to rush to higher difficulties asap, because the first couple difficulties you're limited to playing are terribly boring and can be completed by simply sprinting and mashing left click, which would give you the impression that the game is a simple left click spam fest. But there's a surprising amount of depth to the game's mechanics, and a majority of the juicy stuff is not explained super well, or at all. Paying attention while playing and learning all the nuances and hidden mechanics and the best ways to use your weapons and the right combinations of talents and gear stats can make for s ton of interesting ways to play, and I'm still learning things all the time after 600 hours. And I'm a Verm 1/2 veteran on top of that. A lot of the complaints are valid and on point, but if all you want is the most intense, gratifying, visceral, melee-focused combat (but still pleerenty of shooting guns!) with tons of nuance and mechanics to figure out, plus she of the best looking WH40K environments, and graphics in general, that I've ever seen, then this game is still definitely worth picking up. Also the bolter, plasma gun, thunder hammers, and chainswords... They really did them justice! (However please buff chainswords!)
Cant disagree more with the hate against this game. The devs have been systematically making big changes to the game specifically directed at the things people complain about. This October they are completely reworking classes adding a HUGE number of more ways to build characters. The process of building weapons is pretty straightforward with a fun amount of rng thats way less then it was at launch. The game rewards players with extra shaired resources across your multiple charecters encourageimg experimenting with different play styles
What loop. You reach max level there's nothing else to do. You don't get rewards fast enough to keep a loop going and to be honest the hive city was the worst place to do the setting justice. Its just too much interior compared to vermintide 2. Absolutely no variety. Could not have some garden sections with greenery or some Mecanicos themed areas. I hope there's a darktide 2 soon just so I can get a better experience than this.
My introduction into 40k is hearing about it since I played dnd, know about it due to memes, see a video about Warhammer lore, watch it, then I was hooked
Thank the emperor this was in my recommended by the algorithm. But really, I love Darktide. Yes, there are glaring problems like some glitches and being at the mercy of RNGesus for gear and missions, but I still love it. The gameplay's fun, the in-game community is largely nice compared to most places (the discord is a dumpster fire) so I've been really enjoying myself. Still waiting patiently for new content and fixes, but it seems like they're very slowly hammering them out.
legit watching rando mc randoson mag dump a beast of nurgle and actual having it be effective is the most lore breaking thing in this game and it never fails to make me chuckle
i stopped playing the game a few days after launch and recently jumped back into it. I say this with a lot of contempt, it feels exactly the same to me
This. All the guys saying 'it's better now!' are just saying that because they finally get 60+fps. There is NO content and you're forced to play with randoms. No private lobbies 6 months after launch. game is cooked.
@@skepsisrollins1711there have been like 3-5 new missions (abt the same as vt2 got in the same time span) multiple new mission modifiers that change gameplay drastically, probably 3 new weapons for every class, a drastically revamped crafting and loot system, and the new auric missions that just released. Also, there has been a private mode probably within 1-2 months after launch. Should the game have launched with a private mode and a good crafting system 100%. But at least be correct when voicing complaints abt a game bc the two complaints you gave (no new content and no private mode) are just not true. There's still a lot to dislike but there is new content and there has been a private mode for months now
The way you edited this video was just hilarious. From the Shrek fighting off the nurgle worshipers to Boogie thrashing the Christmas decoration. Also a huge shame that the game is THIS buggy. The player models almost look like low resolution Gmod ragdolls. It just looks like something we'd expect from 2014
Bought it and glad I did. Yeah it was buggy at launch and still has some issues but its my go to game for chilling. I even bought their premium drip, I can say they are listening but…they are definitely taking their sweet time adding actual content. Last one was two maps and no story.
All I want for DT after 1000 hrs of smacking rats is to make a crafting system that isnt a clown ass Genshin Impact gacha looking ass RNG fest in either game tbh CAUSE I DON'T REMEMBER THERE BEING A CTAN NAMED "TEN`CENT THE RANDOMIZER' IMPRISONED IN THE NOCTIS LABYRINTH That, or make Huntsman a competent ranged class on difficulty higher that Veteran, both events have an equally miniscule chance of actually happening ...For real though, I'm okay with their update pace - my experience with other Scandi gamedev studios has taught me well - I genuinely think that once supplementary game systems will stop being lifeless and obnoxious, the golden nugget that is the core gameplay will carry this game back up-spire.
Matt Ward Wrote the Story. dan Abbentt talent was Wasted, and were still missing Karskin, Mordian, 13th Legion (last chancer), Skins, and don't forget Subclass, so people stop playing Veteran as a Grenadier. he a marksman not a Shocktrooper and then We have Storm-trooper(Tempestus Scion/karskin (Cadian's Only)), AStropath for Psyker, Gunlugger for Oryrn, and Acrofallagent for Zealot.
The entire game could be fixed in a single patch. 1. Remove the padlock in the crafting system, just get rid of it. If you have the materials you should be able to pick both perks and blessings which is what the originally intended. 2. Fully open up the same crafting system, some perks/blessings still haven't dropped for players who have played since launch. Again, players have the materials, let them use them. 3. Add in the weapon attachments shown pre-release and let players use the weapons to unlock them, for example "Get 500 kills with the Bolter to unlock a scope", "1000 for a +5 Magazine", they even had different rounds for certain weapons, some weapons like the Melta still haven't been added. Actually communicate with the player base and explai9n why things haven't arrived or if they're even still on the horizon (new subclasses each quarter).
Darktide is a weird oxymoron of a game. Every hard thing, every single hard thing, the game got spot on. Music? Among the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Gun weight/feel, fucking outstanding. The sound design? God tier. Level design? Really, really solid. Everything _easy_ though? Awful. Awful progression. Awful story, since the story is made up of maybe six cutscenes that amount to maybe 5 minutes of actual screentime. Weapon modification, cut from the game. Perks/blessings on weapons? Worst system ever made. The fact that getting _one_ bad blessing means you might as well trash it, means that the system is inherently flawed. Then there's the fact we haven't even gotten a new gun or melee weapon of any kind since the Power Mauls like four months ago, and there were supposed to be 70 different kinds of weapons at launch? Ugh. Then there's the fact that they said they'd be releasing a new subclass every quarter. We haven't even gotten the first and its three months away from a year out from release. What the hell, Fatshark. This is the first Fatshark game I bought, and it will absolutely be the last.
Fatshark missed a couple cues for marketability if they weren’t going to give you, the player, all that much in story lore. 1: a character that doesn’t look 3 years from retirement with at least SOME fucking sex appeal. I get this is grim dark warhammer, but would it be too much to ask for a character who’s somewhat pleasant to look at instead of making me wish to cover the shit out of their faces and body? 2: impact: why the hell do I go through this whole origin story?? It does NOTHING! 3: a feeling of belonging. Fine you start as a convict no one like, but as you gain in reputation, wouldn’t it be nice to stop being treated like the shitstain at work no one want to deal with? 4: some good fucking will from Fatshart! Damn, starting off with micro transactions? They really don’t give a damn about their own reputation.
I come back and play a bit every patch but what I really want already is a new class, hopefully someone with an ability that isn't just the usual Dash/Push or AOE taunt/pushback that Fat Shark loves so much. Seriously across Vermintide 2 and Darktide, there are like 10 careers and classes that all essentially do just that. Dashing and Pushing. Bonus points if it increases attack speed too. Darktide classes are just so disappointing and I hate them so much in comparison to Vermintide. Veteran is the only kinda unique one with their wall hacks and glass cannon/infinite ammo builds. Ogryn an exception just cause his tankiness playstyle is fun af, and the dash is actually semi useful for once. But really they could so much more with him. Zealot kinda sucks, their melee is good yeah but nothing Ogryn doesn't match or Veteran tops, and icing on the cake, any ranged guy can just stagger you out of the dash, making it probably the worst dash across all their games. Last and least, fuckin' Psyker is just the worst with barley any variation between staffs compared to Sienna, and their whole ability being a bargain bin copy of the Unchained Career. Head popping is their only redeeming factor and it just ain't enough. All that said, I love the game. Still play it, still buy skins and level my gear. Here's to hoping that in a few years it'll be better off with more classes, and perhaps even a fifth archetype. Plus hopefully reworks to these god aweful beginner classes.
Something someone else said will always stick to me. "The CORE gameplay, I mean the actual gameplay, is really good. The atmosphere and soundtrack, too. But everything outside of that is korean phone-gacha mmo bullshit. Imagine a gear progression system with half a dozen layers of rng bullshit changing the potency of said gear. Imagine a focus on character creation but your customization options are limited to near identical versions or literal rags unless you go to the cash shop. Imagine wanting to try a new map, but you're going to need to login multiple times just to see if the rng map selector has it up (and you can't choose the modifier, so there's another rng on TOP OF THAT). I love this game, but it's a frustrating monkey's paw, because fatshark."
I have 500hr in Vermintide 1 + 2. Played Darktide for 10 minutes. No. They completely missed the mark in my opinion - they let a publisher bully their dev and ruin their rep, probably blinded by moneylust.
hmm I should write a review of darktide on steam and ask the devs to make story rich DLC. hmm, I love Warhammer 40K and I want more shooty shooty bang bang with THICK PLOT. THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK
I'll just wait for the game to be like the same price as a candy bar. My mate who loves to read 40k books has put this game onto his shelf for months now saying it's not fleshed out and not fun anymore. And that's saying a lot considering the mf still plays Space Marines, L4D and WWZ to this very day. So yep, gonna play the waiting game for now. Hope Space Marines 2 isn't as bad on release... well, I know it will be bad considering that's how Saber did to WWZ on its release, but I hope it gets fixed fast and have tons of content.
Man, I'm so glad that they finally put dark tide on Xbox. Like they said, they were going to do at the beginning of the Games, life cycle. Hope you can tell my obvious sarcasm
I love Warhammer 40k/Fantasy but can we be honest? Darktide really needs new content and an overhaul. It's a fun base game but having only.. what? 7-8 different missions and a really awesome character creator, that doesn't impact your player character at all. It feels like a bit of a let down. Not to hate the game. I love it, the moment to moment gameplay is fun but the over all experience is kinda lacking.
Gameplay is fun If your a 40k fan, and a fan of Vermintide its quite fun. The problem i found is the fun doesnt last. The gear/cosmetics are limited (unless your buying it, which they really push) There are less classes then vermintide and less sub-classes, perhabs because they added ranged as a big mechanic, but it still feels off. And probably my biggest complaint is there is no compendium, or monster database, yes this may seem minor, but i feel it shows how lacking this game can be compared to other titles. Take Deep rock galactic as an example. The absolute sheer amount of content, things to do, data to sift through is endless. Darktide is like a half finished game.
They really killed it from an art/gameplay perspective. It’s fantastic for a 40k game. Unfortunately, almost everything under the hood is absolutely trash and was not thought through. The game has so much potential but we probably won’t ever see it fully realized which is a real shame.
I played the shit out of vermintide 2 even getting all the achievements. Darktide just makes me sad. Got it on release and I have somewhere between 12-20 hours. Probably won’t play it again tbh. We’ll see I guess
I'm kind of blown away by how simultaneously fun and absolutely garbage this game is. It is a jarringly entertaining shooting game stapled onto an unpalatably coarse and blatantly user-unfriendly core foundation. So, Fatshark, basically.
I can't believe they just remade vermintide / left 4 dead 1 for 1. I get its a successful formula, but its so fucking boring and played out. Give us a Swat 4 type game in the wh40k universe, where there are some enemies but not ten thousand trillion throwing themselves at you and slapping you whilst you awkwardly try to melee them all to death.
Not sure if relevant or not, but every small community I’ve been in for darktide has been absolutely toxic, filled with drama, and elitist. So despite looking past many of the games flaws, the darktide community nailed the final piece into the coffin for me. Hard pass now
Wasted opportunity for the setting. Hives are cool but lets be honest, they boxed themselves in when it comes to environment. I can't actually tell you which map is which apart from the one where you actually go outside and the Highborn area. Wasted opportunity with the you being a prisoner. You're boxed in again since stuff like, Stormtroopers, Sisters of Battle, Mechanicus etc are essentially not possible since ... well you are prisoner scum. They should have just made you a fresh inquisitorial acolyte from a large host of them. And the setting should have been on a planet at War. At least there you can mix in stuff like Hives, Forests, battlefields, Station in space, etc. Massive waste and poor imagination
With no story that ties the missions together, what story is there is idiotic at best, the unfufufilled statements by fatshark and the dodgey launch, I would not recommend for $40 to the average consumer. To those that like the gameplay loop and think the combat alone is fantastic (like me), I would recommend it. Theres just something satisfying about it to me. As a Vet main, seeing any enemy turn from a walking breathing heretic to but a mist of blood from a single bolter round makes worth it to me. to this day. i would also Reccomend Vermintide 2. Its a far better game, and more content, fun characters, and something akin to a story at least.
Theres a lot of missed potential with the game, like a 5th class maybe a disgraced commisar and plenty of weapons that can be added in with the hundreds of unique Imperial guard units
As a veteran sharpshooter, I have learned to no longer fear the rage, because the Agripiina is very good at mowing down anything that has the audacity to exist around you. Bonuses against maniacs and flak armor are disgusting.
My first launch game with Fatshark. Love the core game play, the atmosphere, and the music, Despise all the crap they attached to it and the insane level of incompetence of their management. We haven’t seen this level of mismanagement or corporate bullshit since Firefly was screwed over.
i think the fact that the launch was so barebones and yet I still played it so much is a testament to how fucking good the actual gameplay of darktide is. the gore, the weapon feedback, the ragdolls, the melee combat, the music, the voice acting, the enemy design, the map design; it's all incredible. I clocked 100 hours before they even added crafting; the gameplay is just that good.
i would really love to play darktide. But I have no friends who like warhammer and I dont like playing coop games with randoms. And there is sadly no singleplayer...
Im just glad they made the rewards a bit better, wasnt enjoying the release grind. I will say though lore wise this game seems to make zero sense. A psyker, guardsman, ogryn, and priest tear through literal legions of the damned and dozens or hundreds of daemons depending on how much you play. I do however find it incredibly hilarious that the best all rounder weapons for the sharpshooter is the semi lasgun *edit* I should add that I adore this game. Even if it doesnt feature any of the things people simp for in 40k.
darktide is not a new player friendly game. RNG grind for weapons, to then RNG grind for the right weapon stats. How are you supposed to introduce friends into the game?
Amazing game, the lack of story killed it for me. if anything, the soundtrack, i am deeply in love with it. I have more hours listening to music alone then playing the game overall.
games not going to get any serious updates until they've finished the console port. Apparently the same thing happened with Vermintide 2, it launched in a buggy state not much was done to fix it for like a year, console port drops and then suddenly we're getting regular updates.
Got the game on game pass, both liked the gameplay and hated pretty much everything else about the game, decided to try Vermintide 2, was shocked by how much better it was than Darktide, hated Darktide and never played it since.
Its a pretty good day today, give it some more time and let em flesh it out with 2-3 more content packages and we will be good, its a fun game and the vibe with the music is just out of this world.
I've been recently getting back into darktide and Like ( even though I know a video like this won't get the dev to do something because I think its a bunch on higher up bullshit and maybe the fact that tencent in involved with fatshark now ) this game is great I love it it has so much promise but it feels terrible that like nothing is there because there this great skeleton for it everything but fuck it feels terrible seeing that this game has almost been out for a full year and were gotten nothing but a few times and some special events that happen on missions , I genuinely want this game fixed and given content because it might be able to help it breath and get more people to play it and dip there toe into the pool that is warhammer 40K even if its small change
"darktide is the kind of game to boot you from the match and show you something like "to question is to doubt" " funniest shit ive ever fucking heard, well done mate
Could be cool video, just dont know. I cant understand you, do you need to speedrun sentences? Make a pause between words, it sounds like one continuous string. Or not, iam not your viewer anyway.
Don’t let this distract you from the fact the 4th dlc class for one of the characters in their previous game still hasn’t made its way into the game after 2y of the first dlc class launch. (Do not trust this company with your money.)
For all its flaws i absolutely love this game. It helps that i have a group of buddies that i play with on the regular. We have a blast in high intensity and maelstrom. Im optimistic about where it will go in the future
I bought this game without any knowledge of Warhammer besides "loud screaming and louder, hilarious weaponry." It's now become a gateway into 40k for me and I really enjoy playing it with my friends.
Its been my gateway back into warhammer 40k :D A ton of fun for sure
Welcome to the fandom. There’s no escape for you now.
Your poor wallet.
I wish I had friends 😕
heck yeah
Awesome video for a great but flawed game. Hope Fatshark continue to support it and build upon the excellent gameplay.
Does this mean we can expect to see Gabe performing the Darktide soundtrack? :D
Ogryns are best!
I've been a 40k nerd since 1993 and the one thing i got from darktide was the amazing thrill of finally firing a boltgun the way i imagined it. Feels so good to squeeze off a round at a heretic and see him pop! LOVE IT!!
It's so much better after using more humble weapons for a while. The contrast makes it so much better
@@enovos3138 I am guessing now is a bad time to mention I main Psyker just for the love of impersonating a Sith lord?
i couldnt put down the thunder hammer after using it, on zealot !! nothing more badass than smashing the heretics with the holy hammers
So much potential lost, Fatshark never learns from past mistakess.
why should they learn people still buy their scams
You hit it on the head ma dude, ogryn pals would be proud
first 20 hours you have fun, next 20 you are still enjoying the game and after that, you learn why the interest for darktide dropped to the floor after launch, and why vermintide 2 is still more popular than it.
100% true.
@thedefense381 right. but we all know darktide will, one day, probably, be absolutely amazing. whilst its a bit predatory and mismanaged to sh!t, it might at least be better to pick it up earlier in ita life before they (inevitably, lets be honest) start stacking on dlc, uping the price, or both
and if its anything like vermintime 1 and 2, it will eventual being great.
Man darktide was the one game I actually had a wanting to put time into it’s a shame that the game launched buggy and idk if it got better because everyone kind of just stopped talking about it
4:17 *Confident Strike*
Just buy it. Worth every minute of pain just to purge...
Bugs are mostly gone but the true problem with the game is lack of content.
Ahh dark tide, the game standing on the edge of greatness, yet being held back by some very fixable but time consuming problems.
I love Darktide and feel like I kind of got my money from but it holy hell did they drop the ball in every way outside of the feel of the combat and the tone/look of the world.
I still play DT a lot. I hope FS magically gets their shit together and gives the game the love it deserves.
Give 5-7 years.
That's what it took for VT2 apparently.
hopefully after FS is done dumping content into Vermintide 2 they'll pick up the pace on Darktide.
@@ashrimplecreature9210 they moved a majority of the team from verm to Darktide a year or two before it's released. Even with that, Vermintide 2 is still coming out with more content
Darktide be one of those games that comes free with the OST.
"Before the devs go on holiday" I hadn't realized they came back after their two month holiday at launch!
Next time I'll try not to scream my lungs out in battlebit remastered before voicing my script. Hope ya enjoyed 👍
Definitely enjoyed it.
Darktide 40Kpilled me so hard I've read like 10 of the books
read half of the gaunts ghost series cause of the game haha
Vermintide 2 and total war Fantasypilled me and i am grateful for it.
I've quit the game entirely after 300 hours. No point in playing when there's no mission select, weapon crafting is complete RNG, and there's no new classes coming. Not to mention they keep nerfing strong weapons instead of buffing weak weapons.
No high shock is really getting to me these days - I really am gunning for a carpal tunnel injury
"after 300 hours"
and fatshark got exactly what they wanted. see you at the next launch!
As someone who played previous Fatshark games, such as Vermintide series, Darktide is GOOD, but far from what it should have been.
The recent wave of 40k games may have been a bit of a mixed bag, but the art design and the music especially have been incredible on all of them
The only things that are truly flawless in DT are:
-Jesper Kyd's music (you simply can't *not* vibe to it)
-weapon sounds (from the lasguns' crackle to bolter *simply existing*)
Would be a better game if it had an actual storymode like Vermintide. But instead they monetized everything and basically ruined it.
S***💩. I better play Left 4 Dead 1, and 2.
There is seriously more L4d2 campaign content in the workshop than in darktide.
loved it, played it everyday for 2 months then stopped, havent touched it since
As a VT1 & 2 player, I’ll give the advice to help sooth your soul. The game will be good…in like 3 years.
Just in time for next tide game to drop. So you will completely overlook good old game and buy into new hype :D
Behold Patch 13 completely transformed the game.
Does anyone know the song that starts around 3:30 please? Thank you.
Great video with great editing love it! great job
The emperor is proud of this work 👍
a new sub for u lol
Graphics were great, gameplay feels good but lack of content kills it
Daemon hosts are what it feels like to be a woman at a Warhammer convention
Daemon hosts are like deodorant at a convention (avoided)
the upcoming chnages are looking like a step in the right direction I hope they can keep improving and adding real content soon
😂😂😂😂
legit watching rando mc randoson mag dump a beast of nurgle and actual having it be effective is the most lore breaking thing in this game and it never fails to make me chuckle
i stopped playing the game a few days after launch and recently jumped back into it.
It just looks like something we'd expect from 2014
This video is amazing and hilarious. Im late to the party, but this game is good fun. I hope they keep working on it.
Samw here bro!
Bought it and glad I did. Yeah it was buggy at launch and still has some issues but its my go to game for chilling. I even bought their premium drip, I can say they are listening but…they are definitely taking their sweet time adding actual content. Last one was two maps and no story.
Boltgun is my favorite 40k game out currently it did its job exactly how we wanted and how it was advertised
All I want for DT after 1000 hrs of smacking rats is to make a crafting system that isnt a clown ass Genshin Impact gacha looking ass RNG fest in either game tbh
CAUSE I DON'T REMEMBER THERE BEING A CTAN NAMED "TEN`CENT THE RANDOMIZER' IMPRISONED IN THE NOCTIS LABYRINTH
That, or make Huntsman a competent ranged class on difficulty higher that Veteran, both events have an equally miniscule chance of actually happening
...For real though, I'm okay with their update pace - my experience with other Scandi gamedev studios has taught me well - I genuinely think that once supplementary game systems will stop being lifeless and obnoxious, the golden nugget that is the core gameplay will carry this game back up-spire.
Definitely earned a sub from me on this one. Editing is hilarious and accurate!
Darktide gameplay: "OMG so fun!" Darktide outside of gameplay: "Why would you do that? That's utter crap and you know it. YOU FRUSTTATING"

05:18 Me in my first and only play through so far, LOVE IT. DIE MUTANT SCUM! TO THE OMNISSIAH!!!
The gear/cosmetics are limited (unless your buying it, which they really push)
There are less classes then vermintide and less sub-classes, perhabs because they added ranged as a big mechanic, but it still feels off.
We need a large map TABS-like battlefield game, that can also turn into a FPS, with a mainly offline mode with coop kinda like borderlands
They need to bring back the naked top...I mean why having tattoos when you can't show them! Plus a repentia outfit would be cool...
My first launch game with Fatshark.
Love the core game play, the atmosphere, and the music,
Despise all the crap they attached to it and the insane level of incompetence of their management.
We haven’t seen this level of mismanagement or corporate bullshit since Firefly was screwed over.
Wrongly convicted?
*Stares at Heresy
Brother. Get the Flamer. The Heavy, Flamer.
i think the fact that the launch was so barebones and yet I still played it so much is a testament to how fucking good the actual gameplay of darktide is. the gore, the weapon feedback, the ragdolls, the melee combat, the music, the voice acting, the enemy design, the map design; it's all incredible.
Sharpshooter may not actually be part of the guard, but that won’t stop 95% of us sharpshooter mains from acting and RPing like it!
darktide is not a new player friendly game. RNG grind for weapons, to then RNG grind for the right weapon stats.
How are you supposed to introduce friends into the game?
Amazing game, the lack of story killed it for me.
if anything, the soundtrack, i am deeply in love with it. I have more hours listening to music alone then playing the game overall.
people would play left for dead for a zillion hours, no crafting, cosmetics or updates, but will say this game "failed". I dont get it.
games not going to get any serious updates until they've finished the console port. Apparently the same thing happened with Vermintide 2, it launched in a buggy state not much was done to fix it for like a year, console port drops and then suddenly we're getting regular updates.
"If you like the idea of throwing your life away for the Imperial Armies of mankind then look...somewhere else"
😂😂😂
I'd happily play Darktide but fatshark has seem to have completely forgotten about making the console port
Got the game on game pass, both liked the gameplay and hated pretty much everything else about the game, decided to try Vermintide 2, was shocked by how much better it was than Darktide, hated Darktide and never played it since.
Come on Games Workshop! Make a game featuring Slaanesh daemons! Do it, coward!
Evidently, they were working on an Xbox port instead of content. So now they can disappoint even more gamers.
still vermintide 2 better and that sucks -_- ^^ + never ever this year a console version possible if on PC it runs not g00d with a 3080
Darktide is just worst Vermitide 2. Just cut out memorable characters that V2 has, most of the mechanics such as being able to craft weapons.
I preordered this for the Xbox way back when. They returned some of my money, said sorry and I haven’t heard a thing since.
"darktide is the kind of game to boot you from the match and show you something like "to question is to doubt" "
funniest shit ive ever fucking heard, well done mate
Could be cool video, just dont know. I cant understand you, do you need to speedrun sentences? Make a pause between words, it sounds like one continuous string. Or not, iam not your viewer anyway.
So none of the major issues the community had with the game at launch are fixed? Guess I'll wait another year then :(
good video, good game. crafting shoulda been there on release, then me and my friends wouldn't have quit.
