    Hey everyone, Raf here. I appreciate all the comments that everyone has shared. I wanted to make a comment to pin to the top of this thread as I am hearing some repeating responses from other owners and I want to make sure it is highlighted. At the time of this comment I have not made it to the range yet to test. But others have mentioned that using this adapter at the range has caused the rattle or play that I mentioned to get worse. Also when I purchased this on sale (Black Friday I think) it was much cheaper than the brand it was knocking off. Now there is less than a $20 difference. Based off the feedback I hear, I would say you are probably better off buying the real deal. Another big thing I want to call out is the complete lack of customer service support with the company. I have reached out numerous times with no response, and I am hearing the same from others. So I must mark this product as Buyer Beware! Again thank you all for your comments and I am glad this community can help each other out. For me that is exactly why I wanted to start this channel.

      These are trash. Bought 2 around black Friday both failed miserably after about ten rounds. No customer service what so ever I thought about calling my credit card company and disputing the charges. I wouldn't pay 10 dollars for this garbage.

      @@dillonsmudrick1737 Sorry that you got two that failed to work. Although I have not had any malfunctions I can definitely echo the complete lack of customer service. I would definitely try to go the route of involving the credit card company. Sometimes that gets a company to respond

      I had the same issue when I installed mine. There was a little wiggle but after taking it to the range and only shooting three rounds, I had multiple malfunctions. After that the hinge just got worse. I didn’t fold it after that and when I got home I could barely open it, after that I could no longer close it. I trashed it after that. It’s junk, I guess I gotta cough it up for the LawTactical.

    I recently installed my folding stock adapter, and it was successful. I also figured out how to get rid of the wiggle in the hinged bolt. I brought a box of Nitrile Assorted O rings by Store House at Harbor Freight and used two 7/32" x 11/32" x 1/16" O rings(A009). Remove the henge bolt completely; place one O ring on the henge bolt; reinsert the henge bolt and place another O ring at the top. Then place henge bolt screw back on the top and retighten the henge bolt. This should eliminate the play/wiggle in the henge bolt.

    The reason your buffer tube was so hard to take off was because the castle nut was staked. If you would have looked at the top notch on the castle nut , there would have been a silver weld to keep castle nut from moving. An easier way to remove a staked castle nut is to use a punch to punch back on that weld before you use armorers wrench.
    Please make an update video after shooting the rifle. Info on this adapter has been hard to find. Thanks!

    • @tech3nc
      @tech3nc 9 месяцев назад +4

      As the reply below said, use a punch to take care of the staking. The Magpul armorers wrench would have made things easier as well. That tiny wrench you were using doesn't help multiply the torque at all. The other item to add to your tools would be the Magpul armorers block. It fits in the magwell. Another tip, use the wrench to tighten or loosen items by pushing down on the wrench. It uses the whole surface of the wrench instead of one little lug.

    • @RafsReviews
      @RafsReviews  9 месяцев назад +2

      Yes that sorry wrench was horrible. It was very thin and difficult to keep full surface tension on it. Thanks for the info!

    I see a bunch of people talking smack about this unit. I prefer to talk smack about LawTac charging $250 for a hinged stock! Ridiculous! If you buy the Aim unit on sale, you get three or four of these things for roughly $50 a piece. If you spend about an hour on each one massaging it, putting in better hardware and a few other little things, they work just fine. Yes, the Lawtac unit is definitely higher quality, made from steel, it will last. The Aim unit is aluminum, drop it at the wrong angle and it's done. If I was using my AR as a true defense weapon like SWAT or military, I wouldn't want a folding stock regardless. I'll take the Aim unit, spent a little time on it, and take the $ I saved and put it towards a better barrel or trigger.

    Hey, I had my folding adapter for awhile now and it does have a wiggle in the hinge area. The fix is place a .032 washer on the head side of the hinge bolt, because the bolt is machined to not tighten any more than intended due to the shoulder on the nut side. So the washer will definitely help tighten the hinge down eliminating any travel or side play producing from the loose hinge assembly. This should be an easy fix. I’ve done it on my adapter already it only made it a little stiff opening the fold eventually it’ll loosen up a bit. Hope this helps. God Bless.

Ended up ordering an actual 1/4" x 1" x 10-32 shoulder bolt (the hinge bolt it comes with is part of the problem) then bored the hinge holes to 1/4". Then I replaced the plastic spacers with brass and made a few tweaks to the nut so it could be tightened. No more slop in the hinge and the repair was less than $10. Do not use the buffer retainer they provide but use a mil-spec retainer instead

    Yeah I’ll stick to my LAW tactical. When it comes to a rifle I will stake my life on/or really anything that could potentially affect the functionality of a tool that I have invested thousands into, I will only use something that has been approved by the DOD. The law perfected this years ago and there is no reason to switch. Especially when it’s the friggin buffer system.
    On another note I adore my law folder. It makes my ar fit perfectly in my bag and it’s amazing! Only thing I dislike was the amount of T&E I had to put into tuning the buffer for my LMT EBCG and bolt because the law added a lot of weight to my vltor A5 system and the LMT BCG requires an H2 buffer setup.

    I have the Aimaculate Folding Stock Adapter, but found a better solution.
    Check out the Stern Defense RAB-AD, Rapid Attach Buttstock Adapter. The pricing is competitive with the Aimaculate, and is a better design.
    Both the Aimaculate and the RAB-AD are more economical than the Law Folding Adapter.
    The Aimaculate Hinge became loose. The instructions state the tightness is adjustable, but nothing would eliminate the looseness.
    The other issue is that the Latch would not work correctly. That contributed to the looseness and slight rattle.
    If you purchase the Aimaculate you might want to consider a Crowsfoot Wrench and a Breaker Bar to torque the Castle Nut. Also, use Locktite on the Cupped Set Screw that retains the Buffer Detent and Spring.

The wiggling eventually worked the release latch loose; opening mechanism, breaking the buffer spring retaining pin and shooting the spring out of the buffer tube and into the dirt. It opened up several times after that. I just ordered a Law Tactical steel folding adapter. I like the look of the flush design better than the Sylvan Arms aluminum one. I'm curious if the Aimaculate adapter fails in the same way.

    When I put the buffer stop pin and spring in it fell through. I put a screw that came with the kit in it then looked at the instructions again. There was a warning not to remove or adjust part number 11 which was the part that I placed in the device to keep the buffer stop pin and spring inside the part. How critical is having to place the short hex screw into the part myself or should it have been already installed?

    Law Tactical Gen 3 is made of steel and more expensive but will last longer than junk, that's 75% aluminum. These are sloppy and can break on the first round. But it's your money. Research it before you buy because you definitely get what you pay for. If yours sit on a shelf, then buy the cheap one. If you use it and use the cheap one, how sorry are you going to be in an event where, after the first shot, your gun is completely inoperable, unless you use it for a short bat.

    As a manufacturer of quality firearm accessories, I can without a doubt say the aimaculate adapter is a cheap chinese knock off of the Law Tactical. They are also guilty of patent infringement. It's very difficult to try and protect your products from the Chicoms, but, if it's something that your life may depend on....buy once, cry once. The Law is pricey, but well made and really is made in America. The Chinese did the same thing with the Atlas Bipods, hell they even put the patent number on their copy, and to look at them side by side, you can't really tell the difference, until you start to use it, and then the junk craftsmanship is very apparent. Don't send those bastards that screwed up our economy a dime. Suck it up and buy the real deal, down the road you won't be sorry!

    • @RafsReviews
      @RafsReviews  9 месяцев назад +1

      This is the normal cycling of an AR. On the adapter there is a screw that can adjust how far up the retaining pin sits so you can make sure it is not too high.

    • @RafsReviews
      @RafsReviews  9 месяцев назад

      I don't have a problem with knuckles hitting the hinges. I did see something where someone who had an ambidextrousness butt plate sling adapter that he couldn't use because one of the attachment points on the sling was on the hinge side. I think the LAW folding butt stock adapter gives you the option of what side you want the hinge on though so you may want to look into that also.

    Dude, just go drop $279 and buy the Law Tactical folding adapter if you want to have a folding butt stock on your AR… A SHTF AR isn’t worth the room it takes up in your bag if you kit it out with a cheap part that will inevitably fail when you need it most…
    Trust me, I hmmmd and haaaahd over whether I should buy a knock off or the real deal… Let’s be honest the difference in price is substantial, but at the end of the day, there is just no substitute for for the real Law Tactical folding adapter, even the Sylvan Arms folder, which is a reputable manufacturer, is a distant second place in quality and function from the Law Tactical…

    Can I use it on an AR 9 AR 15 pistol rifle?

    • @RafsReviews
      @RafsReviews  9 месяцев назад

      That’s one question you are going to want to check with your state and federal regulations. If it has a standard size buffer tube than yes it will fit. However it starts getting a little tricky when it comes to length when folded etc.

    • @SM-xy8iw
      @SM-xy8iw 9 месяцев назад

      Yes you can put it on an AR pistol…, just the same as you can put it on an AR rifle… the issue is not whether the buffer (on a pistol) or buffer and stock (on a rifle) folds to the side… AKs have had legally folding stocks for years that when folded reduce the overall length of the rifle to less than 26 inches… The issue is with overall lengths when the firearm is in its fully functioning configuration. A rifle (not SBR) has to have a barrel length over 16 inches and an overall length of greater than 26 inches and be designed or intended to be fired from the shoulder… An AR pistol, to be classified as a pistol, has to have an overall length of less than 26 inches and a barrel shorter than 16 inches…
      When the ATF first came out with their “Pistol Brace” rule and the checklist, these folding adapters where considered a factor because they potentially increased the length of pull for the limited adjustability of pistol braces to make them more shoulder-able… However, with their final rule that virtually turned every pistol brace equipped pistol, not just AR platforms, into SBRs, thereby forcing everyone to remove their braces to be compliant, the additional length of the folding adapter became irrelevant as long as all the other criteria that make your AR pistol a pistol are complied with…
      I personally have the Law Tactical Folding adapter on my AR pistol with a Strike Industries slick round pistol length buffer tube and an 8 inch barrel with about a 2 inch muzzle device and it complies with all of the ATF’s wonderful rules and interpretations of the laws… As for local state laws… I live in NC and our laws pretty much say if it complies with the federal laws then it complies with NC laws… But obviously call a local 2A attorney in your area/state, pay them a consultation fee and get the straight skinny on on the laws where you live… It’s better to pay an attorney $100-$200 for a quick consultation than to potentially face a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

    Is this atf legal, will it work with AR pistol & is that legal

    • @RafsReviews
      @RafsReviews  9 месяцев назад

      Let me begin by saying I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV so please do your own research if you are concerned but this is the way I interpret the law. In the case of my AR 15 it has a buffer spring and is still required to be shoulder fired and can not be or I should say, should not be fired in the folded position meaning the stock with buffer assembly is still a required or essential part of the weapons function. Because of this there is nothing else to consider. Now if you have an AR 15 pistol or stabilizer it gets a little more complicated. For an AR 15 pistol, the length must be 26” or greater. This is measured from the fold point to the end of the barrel. If your flash suppressor is fixed (pin and welded) the measurement goes to the end of the flash suppressor. If it is not pin and welded then it goes to where the barrel end and the flash suppressor begins. I also read in some places that if you have a forward grip then there are other things you have to consider and may require you to register your weapon as a short rifle. But again I can not stress this enough. This is my interpretation of the ATF laws and please read into it yourself versus just listening to me or anyone else on RUclips unless it is the ATF themselves. Thank you for a very valid question!
