agreed not only is sheer heart attack a wild part of the plot but it's also one of the first times we see anything that can even out do star platinum's time stop and Jotaro's quick thinking. the Duang gang got very lucky that fight, Koichi and Jotaro should both be dead. that being said the awakening of Koichi and showing the weight of his words and actions against Kira is one of the most gratifying parts in jojo, especially because he's our narrator for this part
Yes but Koichi did make a mistake which lead to Jotaro being Knock out. If Koichi didnt do it Jotaro surely wouldnt die.Star Platinum can defend from SHA so probably fight would be a draw or maybe Jotaro with Star Platinum breaks SHA.
It's kinda hard to believe a heavily injured man suffering from blood loss could outrun a group of fit individuals while walking and even having the time to engage and converse with others, take a hostage and undergo surgery without them catching up to him.
It's pretty cool that both the anime and the "Crazy Heartbreakers" novel have Kira making some cameos in the background before the creation of his feud with Josuke's gang. It's a pretty great way to symbolize how Evil is always hidden in front of everyone
I loved how Jotaro, despite not being the protagonist anymore, still gives a badass beating to the villain, insteadbof being just severely nerfed and underused. Wish more franchises did something like that with former protagonists
Agreed and it also solidified the difference between Kira and the previous antagonists. He isn't the strongest guy in his part and isn't some dude who likes fighting and proving he's the strongest/superior to others but just wants to live undisturbed which is why he is such a great villain not only for this part but also in general.
I think it does a good way of world building. It shows not everyone is going to get a super strong stand like star platinum or the world, in fact the only ones we see that are implied to be on it’s level (without power ups) in later parts are KC and D4C, two godlike stands.
@@kingtiger5040That’s what makes him scarier to me. The world dominating types are intriguing and powerful for sure but the quiet evil that goes unseen is what makes my skin crawl. And is probably more “real” or relatable to most people.

I would add another detail: Josuke healed Kira's hand in order to track him down, which seemed to be a good move at first, but it was actually a big mistake! If he hadn't fixed it, Kira would've been easy to identify, since one of his hands got missing. Maybe Kira would have used Killed Queen to destroys some men's hands to cover his tracks, but that's a risky move.
I feel one of the lesser mentioned parts of part 4 is how that moment where Kira gets beat down traumatized him. He was terrified of jotaro specifically and if I remember right when he was about to be found out before unlocking btd he was thinking basically "oh no jotaros going to find me"
I completely agree that for me Sheer Heart Attack Part 2 is a great episode, loved how you've made it a habit of looking deeper at specific arcs/episodes of jojo and i'd love if you tackled 'C-moon Part 2' as i think it is a masterclass in shifting power dynamics
Aya’s death cemented my utter hatred for the villain the same way Dio’s atrocities in Part 1 did. The satisfaction of Kira’s demise was well needed. I really liked Aya and seeing her die shook me to my core.
I love that this episode re-establishes the principle that if you want to beat Jotaro Kujo, you HAVE to outmaneuver him or have some crazy abilities on your side (which is what Pucci does in Stone Ocean). Because in a straightforward brawl, NOBODY wants to throw hands with Star Platinum.
Sheer Heart Attack is by far my favorite arc in all of part 4, and so I’m definitely glad to see you give it major props. It’s very intense and engaging due to dealing with a stand that lowkey breaks the rules of previous ones, along with having no way to deal with it until Koichi eventually unlocks Echoes Act 3. And the fight itself even perfectly portrays the difference in experience between Kochi and Jotaro. Since Jotaro is experienced, he knows that the best way to handle things is to wait and asses the situation. Whereas Koichi is just focused on preventing Kira from escaping, and a result it causes him to drop his guard and for Jotaro to take the blow in order to save him. And this arc is important due to illustrating the teamwork Jotaro and Koichi had and they would eventually use in the final fight against Kira later on. While Kira first stepped into the spotlight in the prior arc with Shigechi, this was the one that fully cemented him as a dangerous and cunning threay that the Morioh warriors wouldn’t be able to take down easily.👌🏽
I like the "Kira accidentally triggers Jotaro's PTSD" theory for this scene and why he was able to get up in spite of being basically down for the count.
My first encounter with this arc didnt really move me too much. I was too engrossed in jojo's and wanted to binge everything i could. It took me a third watch to fully sink in koichi's growth, kira's unmitigated cruelty, and the build up in real tension the moment they lost kira. Definitely one of araki's best.
I fully agree. It’s not just a great episode but it the climax of a great mini arc. It is the part of the show that got me hooked on Jojo’s. I had tried Phantom Blood about a year prior. Dropped it. Than my daughter began watching JoJo’s. I sat in with her while she was watching Part 4. And when we got to Sugetchu’s arc with the hand in the sandwich bag while at first I wasn’t paying attention all of a sudden I couldn’t turn my eyes away. I was transfixed. It was so awesome. Good enough to get me to go back to Phantom Blood and start over. Brilliant show. Brilliant episode.
I love this episode because it showed how unique villain Kira is. He is the underdog here, the one that needs to use brains over brawn. The stands of the protags are powerful and/or hard-counters Killer Queen. Even heavily injured Jotaro pummeled full health Kira.
If I were to choose an episode review: ep33 from part 5, his name is diavolo. That will always be peak fiction to me, doppio just barely avoiding getting caught and encountering polnareff again, tying so many loose ends together and setting up the final fight for the series
Another set of episodes in JoJo I think match the quality of Sheer Heart Attack part 2 are the two episodes in Vento Aurreo that encompass the Grateful Dead fight. I think the tension and stakes, as well and the character interaction between the antagonists as well as the antagonist/protagonist dynamic are executed especially well in those two episodes, just like they are in Sheer Heart Attack part 2.
Those episodes on the train are AWESOME: the way Araki managed to build for Pesci a fully developed character arc (introduction, rise and fall from grace) is unparalleled.
Great video and one of my favorite episodes from JOJOs just from the music alone. Another episode I think is amazing is probably "The secret of guard Westwood" simply because Westwood the the only minor antagonist to give Jolyne a run for her money.

This is an interesting thought, however they definitely had a sense of urgency in tracking him. If they didn’t get him in that moment, there was the potential that he would harm more people (like he did) or even leave Morioh entirely which would have drawn out the scene further, with the potential of losing him. Obviously, we see that he doesn’t end up leaving but the mere possibility (that Kira even though of at one point) of it all would have weighed in on them. They wouldn’t have known if Kira would be willing leave or not.
