  • This is my 2006 Acura RSX Type S. I LOVE this car! I've owned it since about 2010 and I'm the 3rd owner. It was purchased with 25,000 miles, and I just crossed over 140,000 miles this weekend. I didn't start modifying the RSX until around 130,000 miles when my OEM parts started to fail.

    And also a shoutout to ‪@jdmdennis9763‬. He has a lot of great car videos, but mainly he is the reason I ended up going with the Spoon N1 exhaust. I reached out to him by DM and he was super nice to answer my questions about the exhaust before I made the purchase.

    Nice car! I graduated in 2008 and man I remember these brand new. They were freaking awesome. As the years have gone by I’ve actually come to prefer the pre-facelift 02-04s. It’s weird. I did this with Integras back in the day, too. Everyone agrees the 98-01 Integras look better. For that reason, I prefer 94-97 models. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Thanks! I feel ya. I would get so excited when I saw that turbo one (that I mentioned in the video) out and driving. That owner's was the pre-face lift, blue, and black wheels. The turbo noises that came out of that always made me smile.
      Hey nothing weird about that, everyone has their own style/preference, that's what is cool about the car community. Everyone sharing a passion about the same thing, with their own spin on it. Could be something you just like, something nostalgic, etc.

      Nice, yeah they are definitely fun cars. I wanna say I drove something somewhat similar. When my car was getting fixed a long time ago, I was given a TLX as a loner car from Acura (forget the year, maybe 2015ish) and that thing had some pretty good acceleration.

    2002 RSX Type S in Pearl White was my dads first new car at a dealership (we didn’t have a lot of money so this was a big achievement for him at the time especially since our previous car broke down on us and we had to leave it on the highway). I grew up in an RSX. These cars have an incredible amount of space in my heart. I have an 02 in my garage right now, being restored slowly but surely. On the hunt for an 05-06 model. Parts are a pain to source. Lots of discontinued stuff. Not enough people bought this car brand new. Many that bought it second hand destroyed it and did not do maintenance like required. The longer time goes on, the more desirable your car will be because of its condition. Choice of mods is good but you need to keep it looking stock as much as possible to retain the value. That shifter situation for example must be addressed.
    Take the front seats to get reupholstered but do it with a small mom and pop shop so they don't charge you an arm and leg. Also you might want to consider getting fog lights but you will have to source the parts from junkyard and other warehouse suppliers that still have them.
    Your RSX looks great, I didn't see any holes or rust in the usual places. 😂✌

    • @flonought
      @flonought  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Yeah I have seen a lot of that. Most of the ones I see are pretty beat up. But I’m always stoked when I see a clean one.
      And yes, I definitely understand where you’re coming from but personally the monetary value of this car means 0 to me; it could be worth 50K or 2K and I would still be driving it the same. The best part of any car for me is the feeling you get when driving it.
      I enjoyed this car stock for the majority of its life so far, and now I’m looking forward to making it my own. Modifying it tastefully, in my opinion, to enhance the aesthetic and overall driving experience. I don’t plan on getting a different car unless the engine in this dies, and even then I don’t know if I could get rid of it depending on the condition of the body.
      But thanks, and I know 😆 I’m surprised too because it has only been garaged for about half of its life. It has sat outside in many winters too, so overall it’s stayed in pretty good condition. The car is an absolute blast to drive.

    I got one with 190k on the clock back in 2022 but to be fair it was only $4000. K20 replaced w/ 120k miles excellent didn’t burn oil, interior in great shape. The only issue is after a few months the 3rd gear started grinding 😅…Anyways you have a very mint example just be careful with the trans.

      But yeah I feel ya on 3rd gear, I have to be direct with mine. I was a little too boy racer when I first got it, and let’s just say my shifts weren’t perfect. 🙃 but thank you man, I appreciate it. Hoping to have a lot of fun miles to go on this thing.

    I’m sure ALL earlier Honda’s/Acura’s from 88-06 will go up in value. The performance ones. Very nice example of a CLEAN and NOT overdone RSX -S . I would get a beater for a daily personally. To each their own

      I think so too. It’s harder and harder to find that same kind of RAW driving experience now. Thank you, I really appreciate that!
      And I definitely understand where you’re coming from, but it’s one of those small joys in life for me where I don’t think I could ever drive a beater daily; regardless of the current/future value of a car. There’s something about getting in a car like this (and others I would choose from) and revving it out that makes my whole day better, regardless of what’s going on in life.
      All that being said, if I just could not financially afford to then yes that would make the most sense and I wouldn’t stretch myself (money wise) for a car.

    🤭 How’s it holding, brother? 😎 I’ve been meaning to upload videos about my DC5 as well, I am just WAY too shy to record myself and such.
    I like that you mentioned about that RSX article at _Hagerty_ because as a matter of fact I am the first commenter when they published it. (My name’s Christopher) It still there too. I don’t know why they don’t do a video about the RSX.
    I remember when these cars came out in the early 2000’s but back then I was just a kid. Still remember the feeling, calling me. The car I had before was a Honda Civic Si 2012, a coupe in blue. But I had an accident couple days before before Christmas in 2021. About four days later, I think it was by December 26, 2021 after scrolling different potential cars I am ONLY into… I finally found my own DC5 _2002 blue_ and 100% stock with 100,998 miles. 😱!!! I got the pictures and everything still, but I KNEW I had to get it before it is TOO LATE!! Cause how rare they are and *ESPECIALLY* intact!!
    I have A LOT to say about my car, and especially what also inspired me to sought after it for years!

    • @flonought
      @flonought  7 месяцев назад

      I love that! Thanks for sharing, Christopher. As for the shy on camera part, I totally get that and felt the same. All I can say is the more you practice getting comfortable being in front of/talking to the camera, I can promise you that you'll get a little better each time you go out and use it. I filmed my 3rd video today and I felt a little more comfortable than this video. But based on what you shared above it sounds like you have quite a good story to share, so I hope you give it a shot! I would interested to hear the whole story and see the car on video.
      That is awesome, and even rarer to hear that it is 100% stock with relatively low miles, considering how long these engines last (from people I've talked to and from what I've seen online). I totally agree, I definitely see these getting more rare as time goes on. I hope to see more videos about these because I don't see a lot of them in STL.
      Any plans of modifying yours at all or do you plan on leaving it stock?

    How is the drone in highway cruising?

    • @flonought
      @flonought  7 месяцев назад +1

      I really can’t notice it much. It’s definitely present around 75-ish mph if you’re just cruising, but it’s not bad. It’s a more tame exhaust when you want it to be, and really has a nice tone when you get on it. In my opinion, definitely worth the money.
      I came from a K-tuned 3” Oval Exhaust and I felt like the drone was constant, so the Spoon N1 was a nice middle between the K-Tuned and stock exhaust. But don’t get me wrong, the Spoon N1 is still a louder exhaust in general.
