    The k20a3 came in the ep3 and rsx and the a2 came in the type s. There wasn’t a type r civic for that model year at least not in the us so if you were in the market for a new sports honda at that time you only had two choices the rsx/ep3 or the slightly faster higher priced type s. They had to make the ep3 and base rsx slower than the type s to justify the higher price which is why they put the a3 in the ep3/rsx. Theres not much difference between the a3 and a2 besides the internal oil system and the vtec system so you can just do a head swap and put an a2 head on an a3 block and upgrade the oil pump and your a3 now revs to the same rpm as an a2 and has more power. Props to the owner of that car for keeping it in mint condition it was very clean and sounded great!!

      haha yea my 02 Type S has 189K miles and it still runs like a champ (knocks on wood). I used to laugh when Honda guys always talked about VTEC making their cars so fun until I got my RSX and instantly realized what those guys were talking about. The K20 is such a beautiful piece of engineering.

    My 02 Type S is basically stock other than having a short ram intake. I will never sell this car and will drive it until it blows up on me. It's a shame they don't make simple, but fun cars like these. Every time I see another one cruising on the road I always wave or get a thumbs up and they give one back. It's like being part of an exclusive club owning one of these because you sadly don't see very many of these on the road anymore. Sorry for the long paragraph comment lol. Love the video, my dude

    Restoring an 05 Type S.
    Just an Injen SRI (yes, yes hot air) and the DC shorty, both CARB approved. Ran it with the S2 Alpha and it was amazing how the K series breathes and power potential, but the fumes were too much, so made it fully street legal. Has all new bushings, 23mm sway bar and USR discs with project Mu pads. Also installed the SHG slider. Running on Teins, so cheaper coil, but does fine for the street. Capped it off with a Tanabe Medallion.

    It’s hard to find a bone stock good shape rsx type s or si 8th gen I got a 2011 fa5 civic si dyno blue pearl it took my local dealer a few months to find a bone stock one I’ve had it for about 2 and a half years no issues at all even used it as a pizza delivery car for about a year and a half didn’t give me a single problem even till this day she is sitting at 211k runs perfect I typically drive normal as bad as I want to hit vtec everyday I treat her right only thing I can’t stand is the typical paint fade and it’s on the top of both back doors !!!! Other than that no complaints but good video man keep her

    Your EP had the K20A3, which also came in the base RSX. Very odd choice of motor for an Si Civic considering it was the high performance model. It just doesn't pull like the K20A2.

    • @M-t3ch
      @M-t3ch  Год назад +1

      Ah, thankyou for the correction. Yes, the K20A2. I suspect Honda did it for compression and fuel tuning. EP3 Si and base RSX models run 87 fuel while the A3 on the Type S requires 91.
      I do think the A3 engine is much more fun though. Small sacrifice for the fun factor imo 😄

    love the rsx type s, Im a 02 rsx base auto owner but it being a base and auto does not take away the fact the motor and vtec make it a great car especially as a first car that I use as a daily. In the future I do hope of purchasing the right type s as their prices have skyrocketed in my area. Also if you can contact the owner of where he got the black cover for the steering wheel as mine is super peeld and I would love to have mine look just as his.
