TOLD YOU, TOLD YOU....this young lady WILL melt your heart EVERY time... you are right, there are lots of songs to react to... ONE song i like is called ` Father` .. she sings it at a Remembrance concert ( dressed in a white trouser suit) watch the guy sitting behind...VERY moving... thanks Samantha.
Emma suffers from a very rare disease called gastroparesis. About 1000 people in the Netherlands have been diagnosed with gastroparesis, so it is quite rare. While this disease is difficult to manage, Emma is resolved that it will not hold her back. She has become a warrior in her fight to realize her dreams. This performance of 'Hallelujah' was produced by the Dutch public broadcaster MAX. Kerstconcert means Christmas Concert. The orchestra is the European Pop Orchestra. I don't know the origin of the choir. This was just a beautiful production by everyone involved, and for Emma, another epic performance displaying her extraordinary vocal artistry.
This was the special Festive Season concert of MAX a German national tv channel aimed at older generations ; people, like me for example, who have lived the Cohen/Halleluja saga from its beginnings through to the present day. Countless covers of this masterpiece have been recorded but, other than Leonard’s original, this is by far my favourite : although Emma has noticeably reinterpreted the original, she does not betray it : it is a magnificent modern compliment to Leonard‘s genius. And as I have followed his professional life and evolution, I am convinced that he himself would have been awed and even flattered by Emma‘s haunting, soul-searching rendition of his masterpiece; what a shame that he is no longer with us.
I came to read that she has to be connected 22hrs a day to two different pumps that she carries with her in a bag , when and wherever she has to go . These pumps ,one for her stomac and one for her darm(s)pump fluid nutrition in her stomac along a thin tubes for which she got artificially constructed access entrance in the surface skin of her belly , to only be able to take food like this appears to be quite painfull on itself, but nowadays also be the only way along which she can be fed preventing her from dying before her time. What the singing concerns the vocal support is builded up in her abdomen . It certainly does not prevents her from feeling this too , as any local temporally rising and/or Fall of such pressure within her , the handling of this plays a vital role in her performance results.
It's a very painful disease, someone reacted on another video of Emma and told his daughter with the same disease committed suicide when she was 24 because she couldn't bear the pain anymore. I hope the foundation of Emma brings a solution for the people who are suffering from this disease.
She has had this disease since she was a baby. It was not OFFICIALLY diagnosed until she was 11. She won the voice kids at age 12. So she has not let this stop her. She has a port o. The front of her abdomen for her to hook the feeding tubes into. So she has that interference with some of her ab muscles. She has to be fed 22 hours a day. She was fed before going on stage and then again right after. She could never be a solo artist as far as concerts go. She has to be fed between songs. There WAS a short video from a fan at a concert where she walks out on stage, the audience is applauding, she holds her index finger to her mouth to say Shhhhh. They quiet down and she starts To sing and Andre is just standing there. She sings the first half of the song without the orchestra. When they come in, she was dead on pitch that entire time. Not having any music to find her first note. She is better than anyone I know. She is that on in a billion singer because she has perfect pitch already. Also due to her illness, and she is 15, but she is only the height of the average 7 year old. She has very tall heels on under that gown. She is small. So now imagine her lungs the size of a 7 year olds and she sings as good as she does. I have seen some of her short posts from FB and she can belt high and loud without any issues at all. If you notice also, she starts every song out soft, like SoHyang. Some she ends big and some she ends quiet, almost a whisper. Just like SoHyang. But when SoHyang was 15, she could not sing like Emma. Emma is one to watch. She is on a world tour with Andre for this entire year, so by the time she is done everyone will know who Emma is.
For your information: on Friday 12 July a new song from Emma Kok will be officially released on the media. It is announced by Pierre Rieu, son from André Rieu. It is called "Dancing on the stars" and it is a new song, so not a cover. I have heard it already on a few (not so good) amateur recordings as Emma is performing it right now during the Vrijthof Concerts in Maastricht (Netherlands), where the "Emma madness" (in the good way!!) started one year ago. So that makes totally sense.
Here are two short Christmas songs from André Rieu's Holiday concert, you can react to them together as they're both pretty short: WHITE CHRISTMAS: ruclips.net/video/ZZEyhG2bEeM/видео.html ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS (IS YOU): ruclips.net/video/xCBOVw7PErU/видео.html ...and check out her beautiful cover of Sofia Carson's COME BACK HOME, I believe she recorded it at home: ruclips.net/video/Z_FZ14DFppA/видео.html
She changed the line to "shoot AT somebody". I don't know if this was purely her decision or not, but to have the level of maturity to make that decision work indicates that she has unlimited potential. As you know Samantha, this song is a bugbear--and working with a choir can be a challenge. She handled both like an old soul.
FYI "shoot at somebody" has been used many times by other artists, it's one of the accepted variations, performed by Jeff Buckley, Kurt Nilson, Erin Hill and Bon Jovi, among others.
the name Kok is a normal name in Dutch and also stands for a person who is cooking in the kitchen/restaurant, a person who prepares the food. And it is not Holland but the Netherlands... Holland stands for the province of South and North Holland. Emma and Andre both come from Limburg, a province in the south of the Netherlands. Emma, born in Maastricht, lives in Kerkrade, a city in the south-east of Limburg. Andre himself is from Maastricht, born and raised' the largest part of the Johan Strauss orchestra also comes from this city, while the other musicians come from other parts of the world.
Her name is pronounced really close to KOKE. You will hear Andre sound like he says KOOK one time then KOKE another time. I heard a dutch guy react to her and he said it was pronounced KOKE.
Lol, is the word tomato pronounced to-may-to or to-mah-to? Vowel sounds are tricky between languages. Trying to follow Andre’s pronunciation, Kok has a short vowel sound like cock; however, you purse your lips like you’re saying cook. The ‘o’ sound comes out a little flatter.
If you want to see some of the most impressive singing please watch LUCY & MARTHA THOMAS - O Holy Night then The Prayer and Mary Did You Know then Lucy Thomas sing I Will Always Love You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas also HALLELUJAH , Evergreen and then At Last and La Vie En Rose you will not regret it Enjoy!.

22 uur per dag zit aan aan een voedingspomp, dwz zij is maar twee uur per dag vrij om zich te bewegen.
@@ger46429 Ja, dat is waar, en dat maakt haar tot een bijzondere jongedame.
Thank you for your reaction. Check out Father, Come Back Home, Door De Wind. And more. She is awesome.❤️🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬

Not a German but a Dutch TV channel!
@@hanzzl0112 To be fair, she was on ZDF (German) the same day and sang there^^
She sounds like an Angel...🙏
I really REALLY recommend checking out her performances of "Father" and "Come back home".
She must be an Angel !

I'm sure Mr. Cohen was smiling down on this performance.

I think Emma's stamina is greater than you think.

Emma Kok
Kok is Netherlands for Cook
2 hours a day Emma can disconnect her 2 feedingpomps and thats the time she loves to sing because thats the time she feels totally free.
No hate, many people skip the intro, but as you saw it makes a big difference when you know the backstory.
