How Did Anakin Skywalker Commit A War Crime During The Clone Wars?

  • Anakin Skywalker had a reputation as an unorthodox, but highly successful Jedi general. However, much of his success can be attributed to foul play, which here on earth would be considered war crimes. One of the most notable examples occurred during the Liberation of Ryloth, in which he committed perfidy. Perfidy is a form of deception in which one side promises to act in good faith, such as raising the flag of surrender, with hidden the intention of breaking that promise for their advantage. Anakin clearly commits this crime, surrendering to the CIS forces before slamming a Venator class star destroyer into the CIS blockade. This shouldn't be surprising as Anakin liked bending the rules of war to achieve results, such as when he tortured Cad Bane, with this lack of patience eventually leading him to the dark side

The problem with perfudy is it makes the war far worse with little gain. He was fighting droids, if im not mistaken. So next time the clones surrender sincerely, they'll all be slaughtered by the droids who dont care if they are destroyed. Anakin super messed up his own side, since his is the one where life is lost if the other side cant trust their surrender
