Not to correct Phil any any means, but the 147 hard cast heavy outdoorsman is listed at 1100 fps. It is amazing what a cool head and hand can do. Most would like to think they could too, but until you stand close to one of those bears with nothing between you and it but air, you are just hoping you can do it while sitting at the computer. They are huge animals.
Bears are not so hard as some people think. My father had sometimes more troubles with wounded wild boar than with bear in the same weight class of course...
After hearing his story, ya nice shot and he protected the clients. Lucky to only have black bear here..i only worry about rabid coyotes and stuff noones been killed by a bear here since 1941.
I suspect maybe the lady didn’t feel like fishing afterwards due to a “code brown” situation. I know I would have been looking for a fresh pair of undies. 😳
@@Really10801 The data shows much different than your beliefs. Bear Spray is much more efficient if you want to escape a bear attack injury free. Read the data.
@@WALTERBROADDUS It was about the same situation, I'm completely convinced that they would rather have a 458 wm than a 22lr.But Eskimos have a love for 22 horns and use them for everything, polar bears walruses reindeer and everything else. Then we have the professional hunters in Northern Ireland, they were not allowed to have heavier calibers than 22lr and it was used for large deer and small rabbits. Also, they weren't even allowed to have a magazine on these rifles, so it was one shot at a time.
🤣🤣 "Are we going fishing still?" 🤣🤣🤣

Wow. What a story.

If Phil says it works, it will work 😅
Considering 9mm carry in remote Pasayten borderlands.
What a story. I wonder the results if the bear was charging straight on? You were fortunate to have a side shot.
Go to Alaska, provoke one and give it a try. Let us know the results...
Nice work!
That's crazy
Amazing

Your 9mm pistol only holds 6 rounds ??
Not everyone carries a duty sized gun. You've never heard of a single stack compact 9mm?
@@WALTERBROADDUS Not in brown bear country.
@@heythere4970 it would not be my first choice either for Bear country. I would carry bear spray as well.
@@WALTERBROADDUS If you run out of bullets and that didn't stop him, it will be to late to spray him...
When are they gonna make underbarrel bear spray attachment
😂

This is the 3rd time in 2 days I've seen this.
This is only my second time in 2 days, LOL
No Bear Spray in Bear County?💨🐻
If you need to use bear spray, you likely need to use a gun.
You don't spend a lot of time in the wilderness, do you?
@@chasrmartel4777 its something you should have with you.
You go with the bear spray... he saved his clients' lives with the lead spray.

There is a documented incident where a man shot two elephants with a 22lr so clearly a 9mm works on bear.
Just because Ben Franklin flew a kite in a lightning storm, doesn't mean you should try it. 🪁🗝️🌩️

What type of firearm did this guy use...
S&W 3954. There’s a photo of him with the pistol and bear on the Buffalo bore website.
I tried to post the link. I guess that’s frowned upon in this establishment
Id be very angry if my guide shows up with an puny 9mm or even an 357mag. If im paying I want a real rifle or shotgun.
People have killed bears with 22's
Not kidding. Look it up.
Hope the clients left you a great tip!!!
