    Jay and Jim Halsey were my neighbors growing up in the 80's and 90's. I used to joke with Jay that he was the 2nd fastest driver where we lived once I went pro! It was just a way to raz Jay, who was still really fast!

    All that work, time and effort... to be the best. American Made, nothing touched them back then. Now mass produced in China, but all the hard work and effort was done in the US. So while he may have a pocket protector, he knew his shit!

    The RC10 was years ahead of its' time and this is why this car holds the most records and also has the distinction of being the 1st ever true RC Off-Road RACE car and in the hands of someone that knows how to fine-tune it, without the need of aftermarket parts, it is even still today quite amazing on the track. Nothing compares to lapping the current cars and drivers of today with an old gold tub RC10 CE with the stealth transmission.

    My first true RC car. This car got me into racing. A beautiful machine.

  • @freewill51
    @freewill51 12 лет назад +1

    What is really amazing is that every single part had to go through so many machining and finishing steps. After all of that, they could box it up and get it to you for $225. That had to have been a huge risk when you figure that r/c at that time was so small. Now the cars are so mass produced, it's no big deal. Thank you Associated!

    I bought myself this car when the Challenger went down (due to my sadness of THAT event)
    I must say it was an awesome distraction, first by assembling the machine, and then upgrading the unit bit by bit. This awesome project gave me nearly 2 yrears of diversion of the profound sadness delivered by my reaction to the NASA Discovery going down.
    A very fun project that was therapeutic!

    I bought a new RC10 when I was 15 and immediately installed a mid engine graphite chassis kit on it. I wont second in a 2WD stock class out of 54 entries for the day. I was not too happy for a second place finish....SO...I decided to go with an Ultima after that LOL. All in all...I remember having so much fun with these things racing every weekend at the local 4H center. Leisure chargers...Futaba Magnum Jr radios...Sanyo 6 cell batteries...Trinity motors....loved it all. I still have them!!

    Used to race this car. Won a lot of races with it. At the time the Losi 2wd was the only real competition. The Traxxas 2wd wasn't too bad though. Got to attend the Winter Champs in Fla one year and met all the pro guys. They were all really nice. I got them to autograph a hat I picked up there. I still have it. Still have my old RC 10 too.

    Got sick of fixing the chassis parts of my Tamiyas after a bad crash. Dad suggested we front a little bit more money for an RC-10 since it was much more durable. That car was virtually indestructible!

    i had rc10ce when i was young and i just got an original hotshot in need of resto. i hope they reproduce the rc10 stuff in the future. i converted a rc10 dual sport into a nitro dual sport using my rc10gt chassis and the rc10gt to electric. the parts interchangeability was so nice. currently trying to convert a nitro tc3 to a nitro B44 (NB44) and it's going to be a chore. i'll have it done by next christmas if i'm lucky. the nitro dual sport took maybe an hour total.

    I have raced the RC10 since back in 1985 and it was the best and still is the best. Nothing could beat my RC10, from the Tamiya 4WD cars to the Kyosho 2wd and 4wd cars. When the Losi JRX2 came out years afterwards, it was a closer competitor to the RC10 but I could still win 98% of all races I entered against the JRX2's. This included the JRX2 pro's etc....
    Now years later, in 2010-2011 my gold tub RC10 can still beat the new Kyosho RB5, AE RC10-B4 and most other cars I have raced against.

    I had the TQ-10. I think thats what it was. It was an improved RC-10. most parts were the same. Except it had a composite chassis, longer a arms some other minor differences. It was put out by horizon and associated. Then I moved up to the Losi JRX pro. Which handeled alot better in my opinion. Losi dominated the flat dirt ovals in my area.

    Basically, it's just as tough and stiff as the old aluminum chassis, at a lesser price.
