I remember seeing this when I was 4 or 5! I remember the black background, the singing pills, and the words "serious", "fear of us", "dangerous", "delirious" because of the rhyme (and I had no idea what delirious meant). The tune is coming back to me as I listen to this, and as cute as it was, I remember coming away from it thinking I shouldn't take pills on my own (as I was 4 or 5), so the messaging worked! Wow, 40 years ago lol....
a psa that dosent need to scare the living shit out of a kid when discussing a serious topic that needs to be stopped, yet the message still gets through to the kids perfectly, i love the beat, it feels like an innocent beat, but also matches with the lyrics which makes the beat sound like it could be in such a serious advert.
the clarity of this version really makes this more settling than with static and sounding like it was recorded on wax in 1910 edit: i also noticed another difference, the denoised version has a more prominent hi-hat that i couldn't notice on the other. must be a result of the lowpass and distortion that i couldn't detect it
Oh wow, I didn't even notice that the drum track was completely inaudible on the other version. That's actually a snare played with brushes, so I could see how the softer sound would blend into the noise.
I love how all the pills curl up at the end lfmao and you really improved it very well hey but this song can tell young children well about how they should NOT take pills in a disorderly and careless way I would like it to be on the air again
I love how much they are to a family! They are all little children, 3 boys, 1 girl, I love the girl's single and the boys background repeating! It's so good and cute! I thank you so much for the better audio and HD crispness!
not sure if you noticed-it's easier to notice when it isn't pitched up-but the furthest right pill [momentarily] becomes a gal, on the, "believe us!". you can find a non-pitched version on youtube; makes the lyrics, and the voices, clearer.
@@LandonEmma the audio was likely prerecorded, and it would've been p odd to have a pill that only had one vocal line, and otherwise just sat there, lmao. since it is a supporting line, to what the gal is singing, they couldn't push the line onto her-thus it being applied to the one of the backup pills, who all happened to sound male, lmao. the pitch-up, and audio distortion, does a good job in hiding it.
I swear the cute pills sound just like the Warners from "Animaniacs."🤭 The top pill is definitely Dot, the two below the top one are Yakko & Wakko, and all three siblings take turns voicing the fourth pill.
I've always wandered who made commericals or things like these, like what was their thought process behind it And (if they're still alive) how do they feel seeing something they worked on decades ago being resurrected as an internet meme for a few months Are they even aware that it's a meme now
The PSA was created by Long Island Regional Poison Control Center. The song was written by Nancy B. Ekberg, who voices the girl puppet IIRC. She was a musician who had the idea to use puppets to comfort children in the hospital, and this turned into creating various safety PSAs. She passed away in January of this year (2023).
Looks and sounds great. I found some interesting information: "We're Not Candy" PSA was a Public Service Announcement from the Long Island Regional Poison Control Center that aired in the New York City area in the late 1970's and 1980's.
