I agree the pimp is the best character. I love when a demon tries to attack him on the balcony and he effortlessly dodges everything while stabbing the zombie in between
It's as if he hasn't had something like this happen to him before? But has known someone in the past who has been in a similar situation to the events of this movie, as if it's a quantum event that we as society, were not aware of prior.
This was shot in seperated Berlin. These backgrounds were in a West-German U-Bahn. I know it, because I used to ride on these during my entire childhood.
Gotta love the Italian staple of the young woman who makes it through the apocalypse with perfect hair and makeup. I'm sure if we saw her out of the Jeep, we'd see she was wearing stilettos, too.
I re-watched the sequel a few months back after having not seen it since the first time many years ago and I forgot just how absolutely bonkers it starts. It makes absolutely zero sense and is all the more hilarious for it. It’s an OK film overall, but the first one is a damn classic and is legitimately creepy to me.
I remember this movie being on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments of All Time; specifically the woman ripping the guy's throat out with her nails. Anyone remember that special? I used to watch it every Halloween.
The movies actually got mixed up and they have to switch things in a hurry. Part 2 in the hotel was supposed to be the first one and vice versa. Everything after the second one sucks and only uses the demons nostalgia to sell mediocrity.
4:15 Who else made the "Heyyyy" joke before Brandon did it? I love this movie! =D =) The pimp guy was also in Demons 2, but played a different character.
FAST AS A SHARK! Accept is why I love this movie. Fast as a shark he'll cut out of the dark He's a killer - he'll rip out your heart On a one way track and you're not coming back 'Cause the killer's on the attack
Not sure if this helps but the Italian Terminator was also one of the actors in the film-within-a-film, he's the guy that goes crazy and kills everyone. Not sure how this explains what the actual hell he's doing or anything that's going on. Love your stuff Mr. Tenold!
Since you are on a roll with 'Demon-named-movies'....take a look at "Demon Seed" (1977). It's been forever since I've seen it. From what I remember, it was ripe for Canadian snark.
Yeah, there are better reasons to hate this movie. Hate it for the racial stereotypes, like the main black character being a pimp and a black character being the first to die/turn into a monster. That makes more sense to me than hating it for being a bloody, gruesome movie, because that’s the point.
I saw this movie in the theater on opening weekend, and if I'd gone by myself instead of with friends I would have walked out halfway through. I have a very low tolerance for Italian gore-fests that bear little or no actual story or logic, and this film is an exemplar of the form. There are exceptions - the utterly insane Mother of Tears comes to mind - but...
God I saw this movie years ago and had no memory of that abrupt twist at the end, it's not everyday you're surprised by a film you've already seen in a review of it, good job man!
"Didn't you see Dario Argento's name at the beginning? As long as the movie looks cool and is entertaining, they don't got to explain shit!"-- Brandon Tenold, 2019 That may be the most true thing Brandon's ever said.
One day, you need to take a look at 'Phenomena', another Dario Argento film. It has Jennifer Conoly in her first ever role as an actress in films. It also inspired a cult classic video game franchise (Clock Tower). What ever you do, look at the original uncut version and not the American (known as Creepers). The American one cuts out some scenes that make the experience and story worse than the original version.
I didn't expect this movie to be filmed in Berlin (the western part when the city was still devided). Very occasionally you can still see an old subway like in the beginning. The subway station "Heidelberger Platz" still looks like in the opening scene too.
This move is an absolute classic. The first sequel is pretty good too. If the ticket girl looks weirdly familiar, it's because she's Nicoletta Elmi, a child actress from Italian horror in the 1970s. She was in Bay of Blood and Deep Red, among others.
Another hilarious movie horror movie review. It, Demon's 2 and The Church which I hope you'll review Brandon are classic 80's Italian horror at it's best. Keep them coming Brandon.

The Beyond is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. City of the Dead...great stuff as well. But I never got House by the Cemetary...it never captivated me like the other movies from the Hellgate Trilogy. What do you like about the movie? (No sarcasm)
@@82seno Cool idea; mad scientist now turned monster living in a hidden basement used as the premise for a slasher movie. Very Lovecraftian. True, though, that the idea was a lot cooler than the execution. The Beyond is very different; it's cool because it's kinda like the movie that might have inspired Silent Hill. City of the Dead - not so good, because its supernatural explanation for Zombies takes the irrational horror out of them, though it had a fun....um, "plot".
@@82seno The beyond is also great. In regards to House by the Cematary I like the atmosphere, the plot about Dr. Freudstein and that stupid kid. Bobby Rhodes is such a badass that he comes back as a totally different, non-pimp character, in Demons 2.
God I love this movie so much.

Don't ask questions, just have fun including the sequel.
So the sequel continues the plot of the first one or is another story all together?
Even though Demons 2 is not as good as the original it's still a good movie in its own right, and I still enjoy watching it.
