Canon finally delivered in a big way, by putting everything we want inside a full-frame mirrorless camera, with no holding back. At all. There are new sensors, new auto focusing technology, image stabilisation and a whole lot more. These are the mirrorless cameras we want from Canon for a very long time and now we have it.
Along with the cameras, Canon also launched three RF-mount prime lenses; RF-mount prime lenses (RF85mm f/2 IS STM, RF600mm f/11 STM & RF800mm f/11 IS STM) and its very first super-telephoto L zoom lens (RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM), which appeal to those who are into wildlife or portrait photography.

What about the R5 excites you the most?
1. IBIS (8 stops - bye gimbal)
2. 4k 120p w/ no crop
3. Reduced rolling shutter
4. 8k raw (most of my budgets don’t justify the file size)

I’ve been a Canon shooter my entire adult life; recently bought the R5 and the RF 100mm Macro f/2.8L. What a lethal combination. This is by far the best thing I’ve ever held in my hands. I absolutely love it!
All-i missing in eos r6. I was in Canon Europe livestream during their q/a session they mentioned that depending on user feedback they will add all-i in eos r6 future update so everyone please tell Canon to add all-i in r6 future update .

These are the Canon cameras, and lenses, people have been waiting for. I do wince at the price point a bit but, it's nothing new, they're still within historic price ranges. It's a shame that the rumored 70-200 F4, and 50mm F1.8 (or F2?) weren't presented at the same time.

It's as it should be: Canon at the top. It struck me around the time of the Sony A7R FF game changer that Sony would be a great stop gap while stumbling Canon carefully regrouped for the future. Sony makes brilliant sensors. Canon (and Nikon) are brilliant camera makers. It seems to me these brands are constructive competitors; they have all played key parts in keeping the camera business alive but Sony has been crucial.

Hi, now r5 is here and what z your thoughts about a7r4? I’m debating b/w a7r4 vs r5. The only thing I don’t like about a7r4 is the lack of touch screen, articulated screen and lack of multiple raw formats, which are all in r5 with I believe almost close to Sony in eye tracking too. But glasses for r5 ridiculously prized. Being a7s3 announced with all these features, I believe it is best in investing in a7r4 for future proof. What is your thoughts b/w these cameras? I don’t care about video features at all? Thanks in advance.

The sleeping giant has awakened and the Kraken has been released. Now I can't wait to see your full review when you finally get your hands on it. That review will be a game-changer hahaha. mostly a stills guy. but i get small video projects here and there....it really is amazing....im just holding back a bit about the overheating issues. cant wait for the release and all the real world reviews. crossing my fingers on the overheating.

No we didn’t. One doesn’t shoot continuously more than a few min at a time.

The Best Thing I Love About The Eos R5 Is That We can Use Both Sd & Cfexpress Becoz Cfexpress are so expensive and If you dont Want to shoot in 8k then sd is enough ♥️♥️

Yeah would have been a mistake to force us to adopt cfexpress. It would have been a dealbreaker to most prosumers
michael p canon would have lost alot of orders if they didn’t include it. Alot of prosumers haven’t even adopted uhs-ii yet
Watched this video, hovered over the preorder button. Saw thermal issues-yikes. That looks to be the next big story then?
CapturedVideo75 yeah not going to lie, the thermal issues were disappointing but i was already planning on shooting in 8k very sparingly due to file sizes. 4k 24p is what i use the most
So this is a good video camera, we get that.
- How is AF for sports action with changing subject distance? How does it compare to 1DX series?
- What is the readout sorted in live view? How does it compare to A9?
AF is improved over the 1DX. It’s faster, locks on to the subject well with no issues.
Data-rate aside I'm really concerned by the lack of fans on this one. I have a friend who have used the C300 Mark III and it blows a lot of hot air up in your face during shoots - and it's not full frame or 8k.
Yes and that’s why you don’t treat it like a C300. It’s not to replace it. This is a prosumer camera not a professional video camera.

Tell me what is revolutionary about a professional camera that cannot record 4K video longer than 30 minutes. No 4k Raw. Mini HDMI port. Overheats in hot weather. Can not use for weddings, long interviews or sporting events. Not professional. The still camera is stunning.

If both were free and came with a handful of great lenses -and- you could only choose one, would you pick up a Leica SL2 or Canon R5?
Hmmm that is tough. All three I love. I choose all hahaha
Leica makes some of the best prime lenses I’ve used and the build quality is second to none. IQ is also really good. Unfortunately they need to work on their AF more and video. Nikon Z7 is a fantastic camera. Highly underrated. Great Low ISO performance and I really like Nikon’s color science. R5 from my first impressions has the most features out of all three and the AF is the best full stop. Video capabilities also the best.
The time limit IS a huge problem as shooting weddings and music videos we keep the cameras running, this is insane to not put a vent system or at least Cannon not to be honest and discus it as Panasonic did. ALL those wonderful advancements are nothing if the camera is too hot to run and we have to stop the crew at some expense .
For music videos I don’t think you will record more than a few min at a go. As for weddings will you be shooting in 8K? Prob not. Unless you have a 1TB CF Express Card. I think this is prob overblown quite a bit. All based on pre released firmware.
Dare I ask, how does it compare to the leica SL2?
Build quality wise the SL2 wins hands down. Image quality I need more time with the R5, but first impressions it was very sharp with nice color tones.
AF and video goes to Canon. Leica needs to update the SL2 quicker and not worry about the Super high megapixel mode.

Please test with adapted EF telephotos. The new 800mm and 600mm may have the reach but f/11 isn't exciting. f/4 is where it's at.
The price points are very different. These two lenses are around 1k USD each. A Super telephoto lens is usually way more than that
@@TECH360TV Yes. But EF lenses have been around for quite some time now. As someone with access to the R5 and R6, maybe you could get access to some telephoto lenses as well. If not the supertelephoto lenses, maybe the shorter and more popular ones like the 300mm f/4 and f/2.8 and the 400mm f/5.6, so we can have an idea of the performance of the AF and IBIS of the new cameras with the old lenses. As we all know, Canon's RF mount lenses aren't that well threshed out yet so this would help out a lot of Canon DSLR users contemplating the switch to either R5 or R6.
I will ask Canon when they send me the review units. Currently firmware isn’t final and I think with all the noise about overheating there might be an update. They haven’t confirmed with me this but my Guess only
It’s a very exciting day for Canon users. I can see you are very impressed. The R5 isn’t cheap, but for what you get it seems great value. As an owner of the R, with RF lenses, I will be going either R5 or R6, depending on whether my wife has seen the pricing 😂

Good video. I like R5 because of 45 mp at 12 FPS mechanical shutter. However I am not thrilled with the 600 and 800 f/11. I want Canon to make RF 600 mm f/4
Thanks for watching. The F11 were made to bring an extremely affordable set of Super zooms to the market. While I also think F11 is extreme they said that the performance is still there. Will see when we test it out

@Chris Bokeh is a key factor. Overcast weather at f/11 needs very high ISO. I don't go over 6400 period for birds. Personal preference.

Thanks for sharing. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you think image quality (stills) of the R5 compares with that of the Leica SL2 once you've spent some time with the R5 as well.
I have some photos. I don’t have the raw available to see just yet.
As for sharpness they are both very close. The Leica is prob slightly sharper because of the lack of anti alias filter on the sensor. I did feel though it’s sharper than the S1R if that helps.
Color wise the Canon isn’t as warm as the Leica but that’s adjustable in post
ISO performance I tested it on the Canon briefly. 12800 is usable for sure. I would need to compare though to the SL2

You are dealing with two of the best camera companies for skin tones and color. Leica tends to be a bit warmer overall. But the differences are not so vast that it can’t be corrected easily in LR or C1
The R5 is already impressive, but the focus here is on video; when it comes to photos, it's on a par with Sony/Nikon/Panasonic; the pictures won't differ much in quality. The R6 is a bit disappointing, I would have liked to have the same body of the R5 as the Z6/Z7 and a resolution of 30M - at least at the price I was aiming for. I am curious about the successors of the Z6/Z7 and the AIV/SIII.
Then the R is what you want then. The R6 is a like a mini 1DX. It’s the same sensor if I’m not mistaken.
As for video, everything we are using is preproduction firmware. Things can change between now and release.
You know what blows away this camera out of the water? Your Panerai which caught my attention right in the beginning of the video and then I lost all interest in the Canon

the grip should provide a fan. simple fix to overheating issues. If Im videoing a wedding and this thing turns off just 1 time ever bc of heat then it wasnt worth buying. ive put in an order to rent it from lens rentals.

My main interest lies in whether these cameras can best the a9 for auto focus performance speciifically the eye af on animals
@michael p in that case, will it match the a9/a9ii... my reason for being so particular is because 95% of my shooting is action based around dog photography & sports.
I'm using the 7d mkii with sigma 105 f1.4 & 70-200 f2.8 however I have decided to go sony A9 with the 135 g master and 100-400 g master.
Will these new cameras real world experience sway me before I buy into the sony system? Be interesting finding out!
The RF system with it's ridiculous lens pricing & cfexpress cost is what irks me about the RF system.
45mp at 20 fps is incredible though. I'm not anti canon obviously I love my 7d mkii lol.

Don’t take someone’s experience using pre released firmware and think that’s how it’s going to be. There are many variables involved.
If you do 20 minutes straight of 8K RAW recording then yes. But why would you do that...
As a Nikon Z6 shooter (and a fan for that matter), I salute Canon. This seems to be an incredible camera! It is really not an evolution but a revolution in terms of specs. I hope the rest of the industry catches up quickly. This camera is good for everyone and will definitely push the competition.
Z6 is also a great camera, but yes Canon did a great job with it

Interesting. Canon really sacrificed the 1DX Mark III sales for this switch to mirrorless. Who is still buying now a 1DX Mark III? Maybe I can get one for low money now? :)

You say the AF tracking is amazing yet the shot you took of Kai Hong didn't focus on his eye, it focused on the hair on the side of his head 5:11
When his head is tilted down with glasses on it locks on to the head. But if you look at the image more closely you will see the eyeglasses are sharp. It’s an acceptable shot considering the angle and variables.

4K OVERHEATING!!! Max numbers are at 23C/73C. Even if it's not in use, but like out in the sun, in the car, it is still building up heat. It could EASILY stop recording after just a minute.
Don’t judge until you use it. All tests have been done with pre production firmware

But the f/11 lenses... Precisely what micro 4/3 users get for their equivalent. I can see what canon is doing.
Canon cameras have had this look for quite sometime. It’s not a strikingly good looking camera but it just works.
As for the price you literally have a cinema camera and a high megapixel Photographers camera in one.
@@TECH360TV yeah I know :/ without third party support, I just cant afford canon glasses too:( I guess I will just stick to my sony or if I ever switch I will get a nikon with the techart rim that enables sony glass to be used on nikon.
Understand. Hopefully more RF lenses come out. Alternatively you can use Sigma and other third party lenses with the EF adapter
For me easily Canon has the best looks , way better than Sony and Nikon , Sony looks like a toy for me and Nikon Looks like a Tank , Canon ergonomics Ive always felt perfect for a Camera ..

Why you would use 8K is when down sample it to 4k or 1080 you will still retain a lot of details. However you are going to need a high capacity card for it. Reality is most will shoot at 4k and be happy n

Again depends how you use it. This is a prosumer camera. A hybrid. This channel focuses on film making. So yes a C series camera will be more ideal for that.
