I have to say I truly appreciate the honesty in these videos you do! My family and I are looking to move and I have been doing research! We are looking for a southern home to put our roots down. Racism is a big concern of ours so thank you for being so open and honest. Glad to hear that momma was not taking the BS that was being handed out to her son! Not just for her son and family but for all the mothers and students that do not have the public platform that she has to speak out! I hope action was taken to REMOVE that book from the curriculum. Again thank you for these videos helping my research a ton :)

Appreciate your perspective and after living here for 3 years I agree 100% on all points! Also appreciate your honesty on racism. For me (as a white person) the division between the races is definitely the hardest part about being here, because I have always lived in cities that are more generally integrated, and sometimes I may go somewhere I want to be and find that everyone is either all white, or all black, which I just find weird and in both cases it can be uncomfortable.

We are from upstate NY and I have enjoyed Nick Tahou's. We are also looking to move south in two years when our youngest graduates. We visit Chicago a lot and love the diversity, food, cultures, and it made us want to have better access to a major city even if we can't have back yard campfire philosophy over a few drinks. I haven’t heard the term garbage plate since I visited back home in Buffalo. I’ve been in this area for 7 years. Your assessment is spot on. I definitely appreciate your perspective I just recently moved to Charlotte two years ago him and so the whole year last year of course it was hard to really fairly have an opinion about Charlotte because nothing was open and as things slowly opening back up a lot of stores have closed our unique little small businesses have closed due to financial constraints. But with that being said I’m not necessarily a foodie I could care less about restaurants and food on my favorite thing to do where ever I have moved to and I’ve moved quite a bit is to find historical landmarks and in delve into the history of whatever I live and the one thing that does sadden me about Charlotte. Is that Charlotte doesn’t save her a lot of historical landmarks him. Gentrification is taking place all over the country it’s not a new thing however there are some places that savor historical landmarks as opposed to other states in other cities I should say not states him so it does take a lot more work to find things that interest me especially since the pandemic happen but I did find a meet up group that does go on walking towards well Charlotte to show historical places in art to stick places as well but it’s good to know about the food thing because I have a lot of friends that are foodies even though I’m not so I will Look into that and I appreciate your perspective and your post and you disclaimer

Crime: Not neccesarly. It's true that there's more crime in Charlotte than it used to be. A long time ago the only bad area that came close to being a ghetto was Tuskheegee Road. Just stay out of Westside,Westover,North Tryon or generally anywhere in the west or north part of the city. Crime in Charlotte is defantely not as bad compared to D.C. at least not yet.
I hope it stays that way. I heard some areas of Charlotte have improved like the south end near the university.
Food: I agree with most of what you said. Compared to D.C. the food scene in Charlotte defanetly needs improvement. I found that out when it comes to Indian food which is my favroite kind of food. I went to this Indian food resturaunt the last time I was in Charlotte the food was lousy. I couldn't taste the tandorri chicken.
    Weather: I agree.
Cluture: Yes but it's gotten better as far as diversity goes. It's only matter of time where sometime in the future diversity in Charlotte will be just as good as it is in D.C. or New York.
Racism:!!! I can go off on racism just as much as everybody does these days however from my expierence racism is not as bad in Charlotte as a lot of pepole might think. The southern racist stereotype doesn't necessary apply to Charlotte. All of the racist experiences that I have seen in Charlotte happened a long time ago. This doesn't mean I don't think racism is a problem in Charlotte and I remember hearing about the incident that you talked about in this video. I think the reason why all of us are getting upset about racism these days is because of the way social media is.
I hope this post isn't too long. Charlotte defantely isn't sleeply like it was in the past. I've seen the growth of the city over the years. I remember when Uptown used to be dead after dark and channel 18 being a ABC station. For the most part I think Charlotte has gotten better

I agree most with the culture aspect. There’s no one I’ve met that’s born and raised here so coming from a place like Savannah GA it’s been a hard adjustment. I’m a seafood lover, and my hometown is known for seafood. I haven’t found a seafood spot that’s comparable to anything in Sav. I a think the dating scene is the worst when it comes to Charlotte. If you have a family this is a great place to settle, but if you’re single stay far away!

    • @advisorSirAshley

I'm sure the seafood is nothing like it is in Savannah, so I hear you there. And in terms of dating, I'm sure this past year hasn't helped people's prospects. Great video! I’m not really interested in moving to Charlotte but enjoyed your perspective on the city. Especially the cultural bit. I’ve heard ppl write off Charlotte as culture-less but I think you explained why that perception exist perfectly. Also I thought you were spot on about the racism issue. America in general is racist. Honestly for many Black Americans it’s about finding cities with enough progressive Black spaces for you to get the most out of a city that is structurally racist. It’s the American way. Crime? What crime? Food scene is basic. Uptown is great. Huntersville is good for families and cooking meals at home. Zero, zero, zero culture.

Your right, and in large amounts too. As a NYer soon to be leaving NY (Godwilling). The quality of life has deteriorated immensely down here and New York has become and will continue to be expensive.

Well you are completely entitled to your opinion. And mine differs substantially from yours. Especially a long the lines of race..... Which I'm sure I won't understand because I'm not black.

Charlotte sucks in many ways and like every large city, it will get much worse. I'm from Charlotte and I'm out! I have watched its decay for too long.

Aloha, hope you are well. Thinking about moving to Wilmington because I've lived in Hawai'i for over 16 years and miss the mainland. How is the racial tension? Are there a lot of red hats/MAGA folks? Aloha, hope you are well. Thinking about moving to Wilmington because I've lived in Hawai'i for over 16 years and miss the mainland. How is the racial tension? Do you think the racism is stronger in Charlotte than in NYC? I’ve lived in VA, DC, MD, Cali n Salt Lake, but I wana move my family down that way.

NYC, DC, and Cali are some of the most accepting and heavily democrat places in the country, and Charlotte is in the south so there’s bound to be more racist individuals than in those places. NC is nowhere near “deep south” like alabama, sc, and Mississippi though so cities here aren’t huge on racism. I’ve lived in Raleigh my entire life and been to Charlotte many times and I’ve barely seen it. There’s gonna be racist individuals anywhere but racism in Charlotte and most other big NC cities is pretty rare.

Charlotte! If you pay close attention to what's happening around you, you'll notice racism is heavy here. I have never seen so many purse clutchers here in my life. They will literally run if they see a black person walking their way.
