    I was looking to change fluid for my car, 2014 535dx… and was looking at your video, and then realized you got an N57 as well! 👏

    Great video! Do you think it is possible to also remove the transfer case to shed some extra weight? The only reason I got an x-drive was because I prefer the hydraulic steering but would now like to remove everything x-drive related.

      good thought. you'd need the rwd driveshaft from tranny to rear diff to replace the awd parts but it might actually bolt right up. let me know how it goes if you move forward!

    What an amazing video with details, I have a xdrive and I lowered mine and the front axel broke I replaced it and it broke again. So I'm going to do this exact procedure to make it only rwd

      sounds just like what happened here before the diff gave out

      aliexpress. there's a video on it on the channel. made a custom layout and had some leds go out already. the internals are kinda flimsy but haven't found anything more substantial. absolute love it though!

    Would you say that changing the fluid can possibly help prevent this from happening?

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  3 месяца назад

      possibly. in general, transmission/diff fluids should be changed regularly like all 50k miles maybe. the oil does pick up all the debris and shavings from normal wear. but in this case I believe they accidentally drained the oil when replacing an axle and then it just ran with too little oil.

      radnabe sollte nicht rausfallen. wenn man ganz auf Nummer sicher gehen will könnte man das achsegelenk zerlegen und wieder anschrauben. die RWD Modelle haben da aber auch nix.

    • @BONDGarage

      no lights. no nothing. even without x-delete flashed. drives like a rwd. but got x-delete flashed now just to be safe

    You didnt have the use the cv joint part of the axle to lock the rotor and wheel bearing in place?

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  4 месяца назад

      I might in retrospective even though I believe that the bearing won't disintegrate by itself. just my opinion, but the non-xdrive models have almost identical bearings. both are bolted to the wheel carrier and that's it. of course the axle will have to be secured to the hub in order to transfer torque but that doesn't mean that the hub will fall out without the axlehead in place. for peace of mind, yes, just take the axle joint apart and screw it back in. won't hurt anything.

    • @fourstarr22295
      @fourstarr22295 3 месяца назад

      This. Without the axle and nut in place the hub wobbles against the knuckle, creating serious drivability problems not to mention a whole slew of abs faults because the wheel speed sensor has inconsistent contact with the tone ring. Found all this out today after getting the front axles out on my f15. Will be figuring out how to separate the cv joints so I can install them tomorrow.

    You finally did x drive content! To bad its not n55. When removing the axels, diff oil would have started to pour out. Also you could have gotten a used diff if he wanted to save his x drive

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  11 месяцев назад +3

      the moment I touch an xdrive I'm getting rid of it 😅
      maybe I'll put it back in if he wants to. it's really not that hard. but yea they must have lost all oil when removing the axles before. must have been dry ever since. as for N55, after changing my motor mounts I can say that it'll be the same for all 6 cylinders, gas or diesel. the periphery is pretty similar on the bottom end.

      @Sonin66 11 месяцев назад +1

      @BONDGarage x drive is nice when getting off the line in a race, and works for me in Ohio with the snow. And they are very much the same underneath when I did my oil pan gasket. I had to remove alot of the same things just to get the axels out of the way

      I feel you. the benefits are undeniable but it's also more complex. would love to have the on-the-fly switchability from the M5/M3 because sometimes I just want to pull a quick drift and other times I'd like it to hook a little better :)@@Sonin66

      der flansch bleibt ja drin und damit der Dichtring auch. haben im Nachgang den flansch mit nem Kabelbinder fixiert und das VTG mittels xdelete stillgelegt. bisher kein Verlust aber werde nochmal genauer hinschauen wenn der wagen wieder vorbei kommt.

    People who don’t know what there doing…. An drive isn’t just a rear drive plus front drive. Because of power distribution to the front you have a thinner rear driveshaft plus the front geometry is different. Just get yourself a new diff. It’s a nice system. Btw, removing front driveshaft and use xDelete willtransfer load on internal bearings inside transfer case that are not designed for this load. Want to make it true and reliable xDelete without fron drive parts? Disassemble transfercase and remove clutch and big sprocket

      @@Tony-jv5pr I wouldn't and didn't touch the subframe. you loosen that thing, you'll have to align your wheels. just support the engine and remove the engine mount and arm like I did. you'll have to feel for the bolts that connect the arm to the block though. they'r tucked in.

    My front diff is making a horrible noise. The fluid is like silver, shop said it would be 6k for that and the drive shaft. Couldn't I just get X-Delete and make it 100% RWD? The shop told me no but I'm thinking it's because they want me to spend the money replacing it.

    • @BONDGarage
      @BONDGarage  10 месяцев назад +2

      Not quite. Think about it. x-delete will cut power to the front diff from the mid diff. So that clutch is open. so far so good. but when driving, your front wheels still turn (now passive like a rwd car but still turn) and that will still keep your front diff turning. So instead of the mid diff actively powering th front diff and wheels, now the wheels power the front diff but it doesn't do anything. just dead weight. So either you replace the diff or get x-delete and remove the front diff from the car.

    • @name7150
      @name7150 10 месяцев назад

      Thank you! So if I remove front diff, axles and driveshaft and x-delete. Then it will be just rwd with no problems? Have you had any problems driving that way?

    • @BONDGarage

      low 120s. from what I know the axles failed and have been replaced with aftermarket axles which didn't last long at all. then the diff went.
