I've had this tablet since Dec 2012, and I love it. After researching, I decided on the 32GB. So far, I've had no problems with it. I take it everywhere. I use it as a reader, and for quick access to the Internet. I bought a book type magnet cover from Amazon for $11.00. I like all the features, except for not having a back camera. Not that I use it all that much, but it would be nice to have it. I chose this over the the i pad mini, and I'm so happy with the choice I made.

The front reminds me of the ipad or itouch, but this tablet is pretty sweet! I love how the unlock can go to google search directly. I'm impressed!

Good review. You're one of the only people that spends a lot of time on the OS interface and user experience. Almost everyone else focuses on browser speeds, tech specs, etc.
the nexus is amazing ive seen about 12 videos stating the obvious thingss but this guy gets into specifics great video
ive had it since july and it still looks perfect. if you want a powerful, cheap, and durable stock tablet, you really have no other choice.

man google apps where much lighter back in the days. they are so heavy right now. But one question you said that you can play music through the cloud on play music. is that feature removed or something?

Just wanna say I've had my nexus 7 for a few months and am currently using it to watch and post on this video, and its fantastic, if you're looking for a convenient, slim and portable means of accessing all your internet amenities from social networking to professional or personal use or even just an entertainment system for you or your kids then this tablet is right on the money. Well worth the price tag :)
Yes, this tablet's got the big package, it can have anything run on it, even newly implemented apps and features with android updates.

My first ever purchase of a tablet was the iPad mini,bought it at best buy use it for exactly 2 weeks,for me it was just too simple,but it does have some good premium feel to it.so basicly returned it and both me a nexus 7 at Walmart 16gig for 199.99..and I must say I'm very happy with my purchase..
Also with the simple addition of a USB otg (on the go) cable and nexus media importer app you've got all the external memory you could need. The apps are incredible for all ages and uses, I received £15 free credit for the Google play store when I bought this tablet and haven't even used half of it yet :) I'm also using the voice control function to write these comments as we speak (no pun intended). Its amazing.

I'm a long-time Apple supporter. I own everything from an iPhone to the new MacBook Pro retina. However, when I saw what Apple was providing in the new iPad Mini, I just couldn't buy it. Why would I want a device that costs more, offered less, and had features over a year old? I've been hearing about the Nexus 7 so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. So many features, nice screen, and many similar apps. I go where the quality is, and right now it's to Google.

If you can wait to buy a tablet, rumor is a new nexus 7 is to be released soon. It will (supposedly) feature a 1080p screen, Qualcomm quad core processor, rear camera and other features.

I had a bad impression of 7 inches after I bought the Kindle Fire (1st model) the other day I tried the Nexus 7 at Sams and holy shit I was blown away by the quality and smoothness of the interface, seriously it's awesome.

I've looked at other Tablet reviews, which shockingly are around the same price as this Nexus 7, but are slow, poorly constructed and buggy.

Love your reviews, way better than the other written ones by certain review sites, where if it isnt an apple it sucks. One suggestion DetroitBorg, headphone out is a big factor for me, how about an audiophile opinion on the sound quality... Thanks a million for the reviews and keep it up.

I got it and I was amazed by how fast it is and how much action movies like transformers dark of the moon.But the sad thing is that no reason the sound did not work or RUclips. but my mom found out that she had to reboot it.
Yeah. Basically its lacking 2 important things which I wanted, sim card slot for 3G and expandable memory. But overall one of the best 7 inch tab.
My sister has one of these Google Nexus tablets. She uses it every day. She likes it. She also borrows my iPad sometimes, too. But yeah, my sister is happy with her Google Nexus tablet.
this is hands down the best tablet i've ever used, its fast, and the screen is crystal clear and looks fantastic. The only con is the camera, the front camera is not the best, but tablets really shouldnt have cameras, if u put that aside, its one of the best out there! highly reccomend!! :D
love it the perforations remind of the texture of a bandaid i have one and it is awesome
the major retailers in the uk are selling loads. we got one for our daughter for christmas. we registered my google account as i already have a few purchases, came with a free £15 google wallet and transformers 3 movies which is also added to my youtube. we have pre purchased many kids and educational games for her from the google play website and they will be downloaded once she uses the device which is pretty good.

Nicely done presentation! It's always a pleasure to view a RUclips show by a pro presentation host. Does anyone know if the battery is replaceable in the future? I suppose google figures if the battery lasts five years that it's time to buy a new one?
I have had the Nexus 7 for about 7 months now and I would definitely recommend it. It has a newer, smoother version of Android than the Galaxy Tab 2 and also in my opinion a better screen. I don't really care about there being no back camera because after the Olympics I've realised that taking a picture with a tablet makes you look mental.
When you are laying in bed and watching movies without the screen turing to portrait more to landscape mode :)
The screen mode lock feature is really helpful
you can rotate the screen into landscape mode when on the home screen you just have to press the rotation button in the notifications bar that you slide down

Well I was going to get a New iPad, but now after watching this and other videos I am going to get a Nexus 7. Great video.
You can put the homescreen to landscape. You just need to toogle rotaition lock off.

Like I said the first time, the processing power does not matter if the software doesn't take advantage of it. Specs are thrown out the window once the OS isn't optimized for it. The iPhone's processor isn't as powerful as some of the Android devices and yet it's more smoother. Vanilla Jellybean is great. Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than it's predecessors, but it still has a long ways to go to make it as smooth as an iPhone.

I have Nexus 7 and it's a beast!!
If your original nexus 7 (2012) is slow clear update cache and run lagfix trimmer but if it does not work then download nexus root toolkit and example USB debuuging on device and also click USB charging to USB file transfer if ur turned off or in bootloop then no need for USB debugging or changing from charging to file transfer also I recommend downloading custom aosp ROM i would say omni ROM or slimkat but no android 5 ROMs nexus root toolkit unlocks boot loader and backups data eg NANDroid backup if your choosing custom ROM I would go to XDA for this or if normal stock ROM search stockromfiles nexus 7 WiFi (not 2013) just nexus 7 WiFi and try 4.2 or 4.3 or 4.4 if ur using Stock ROM click flash stock unroot and u can browse your own file (for some reason the built in downloaded er doesn't work) if ur choosing custom ROM GOTO advanced settings or something then click flash custom ROM or something and find your own ROM where you saved it eg download
Also don't download nexus root toolkit (NRT) from sketchy sites try real ones like softpedia or wugfresh site

Wifi on yes, and I have no idea for the other one. Just trust me, I just got one and it feels like it lasts forever and I constantly am using it throughout the day
I've had my gen1 nexus 7 for 2 years now and I still get hours of use per day on it. I use it for reading ebooks from Amazon and BN, streaming music to a Bluetooth speaker for hours per day/night. Battery life is the only thing that sucks on this tablet. I am hoping for a better battery on a future nexus tab. I will stay with the google tablets as they work just as fine as the Apple tablets at a better price.
Holy crap that packaging looks so familiar. What's next? Google stickers?
fyi if you didnt know, it now only comes in 16gb ($199) and 32gb ($249) and 32gb comes with cellphone coverage with att (or just wifi if you choose so)

NO , you might want to consider the surface tablet by microsoft, it is equipped with windows 8 which obviously is capable with microsoft word and powerpoint. It also comes with a detachable keyboard for off the screen typing, and this tablet starts around 499.00
