I've had my nexus 7 for about a year now its still fully working in amazing condition. I'm 14 and I'm still enjoying it after a year it is well worth the money !!

This certainly is an awesome tablet, I got one for Christmas and what surprised me is quite how good and useful the swipe typing is, I rarely type normally on it, intact I'm typing this with it.
Just got my nexus 7 two days ago. I have been more than happy with it. Wanted a smaller tablet, and the form factor has been so much better for my needs then a 9in or so tablet. And the android OS has come a long way since honeycomb on tablets.Would highly recommend this tablet if you are looking at others in the price/size range.
Getting the 2012 one for Christmas :D Still has better performance than other tablets in it's range. The nexus 2013 may have the 2gb RAM but the Nexus 7 2012 handles intensive apps greatly too!
Good to know there's now 32GB availability and HSPA+ option as well. Google Current (as well as all Google apps) have had a major overhaul (for the better) since the filming of this review. The screen does in fact rotate and the OS is still incredibly awesome.
Should i buy nexus 7 12' or dell venue 7? I would use it to watch movies, reading ebooks, taking notes, maybe compiling simple C codes, sometime playing gta or something.
Not sure about the anatomy of the battery but, I can tell you from experience I get a very good two days with normal usage with my Nexus 7. I love it!!!
Hi, it does rotate. You just need to update your settings, this is mentioned in the handbook. Hope this helps someone, awesome video. If I didn't already own one I would go out and buy it!
My nexus 7 lasted 12 hours and 22minutes with auto brightness on.just soon regular web surfing, checking email, watching movies and etc.just make sure dont have love wallpaer or too many widgets.but correct me if im wrong.i love my nexus 7.battery life is great.
One of the best reviews of this I've seen. And for once says it how it is comparing to Apple; You can get 2 Nexus 7's for the price of 1 iPad mini. The Nexus in my opinion, after what I've watched, read and seen for myself in store, is supirior to the iPad mini. Only difference is iPad has the "Apple" factor. People want and buy iPad's cause it''s Apple. I will be buying the Nexus 7 now.
Love my N7. Replaced my ipad2 with it and im very satisfied with the results. This thing is super fast and runs with literally no hiccups. Android has finally caught up with apple while maintaining much better prices. 32GB N7 for $249. 16GB iPad 2 $600
Don't quote me on this but the next generation Nexus 7 will supposedly launch somewhere in March or April with better specs (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 1080p HD resolution, slightly bigger screen size). I am looking forward for the next gen Nexus 7 tablet as well. A couple months of waiting is definitely worth it!
Ill be buying my very first tablet in a couple of days, I'm debating in whether I should get this or the kindle fire hd. Which one would you guys recommend?
Google and their partners been making Nexus phones for a few years now, glad more people are finally taking notice because I was starting to think it wasn't going to be as popular as more global brands like Galaxy. I want to get a Nexus 4 too but the only thing holding me back is the lack of expandable memory and removable battery. Which is starting to become a trend among newer Android models.
I got Docs to Go for mine, plus a $25 bluetooth keyboard. This allows me to edit and produce documents, spreadsheets, even powerpoints on the road. I'm writing a book that I can add chapters to when on the road, then email the docx to go to my PC at home to update my book. Next step is a paper/stylus combo to take notes by hand...I hope. Doing email and FB is a snap. So it can serve somewhat as a productivity tool. Now I need to figure how to print from it and do presentations.
agreed. i went in to best buy today with the intention of getting a transformer prime, but ended up going to staples for a nexus 7 instead. don't regret it at all.
thanks for that :) I think I'll go into a shop and try it out and if I think the bigger screen size will be better I'll just have to wait a bit longger to get it .
I'm pretty sure you can, you just need to get a cable with both required ends (the one for your nexus and the other for the projector), this is just a supposition since I don't have one of these and I'm only starting to consider joining the android world. Hope this answered your question.
I'm from the UK. I've decided I'm going to get a Nexus 7 now. I'm planning to get the 32GB WiFi + 3G version, which funnily enough, will mean I'll have something that's not only more powerful than the iPad mini, but it will have more memory, 3G, better screen etc., all for a cheaper price (£239) compared to the cheapest, most basic iPad mini. (£269).
I was an apple lover, but after seeing this and everything it offers compared to the Mini, this is much better, I love customization and more apps are free.
ok I have a question for you as you already own one. is the screen size and quality sufficient to watch movies on? I was looking at getting the Nexus 10 but thats quite expensive to get it here in NZ (import fees etc) and the Nexus 7 really is a bargain price, and I'd rather get that if it'll get the job done
Might be old news, but I'm fairly certain that the Homescreen rotation thing was fixed in an OTA update or by just simply disabling rotation lock from the notifications screen. Administrators at my school recently got them, and we were able to get them to rotate...
Would the Nexus 7 be good for pretty much home usage only, the 7inch display seems to be too small, would the Nexus 10 be a better option or should I just get the Nexus 7?
hey. the reason why the nexus 7 will not go into portrait mode is that it has a feature that locks the screen preventing it from switching. drag the screen from the top by the battery to unlock the screen
Now its even better. They have the 16 and 32 GB versions now, and they have a 3G data version now. With the new jellybean 4.2, the portrait mode moves now, along with the buttons. Its become a lot better. I was going to get a kindle fire HD, but I saw this, and now I have now, making this very comment from it. Its amazing. Definitely recommended. Just one thing: what's project butter? :D thanks.
I want one now, but I should wait until the new one is released. Hope we get some more information about the release date within the next month or so :(
Just bought it yesterday...got the 32gb and 3g ver....with 4.2.2 in it!! however the tablet was awesome...no lag nothing...everythings smooth like butter :)
My uncle just brought the 32 gb for my little cousin. I had to set it up, but it was pretty awesome. Very fast and google voice is amazing. And I am a apple guy. (:
So glad someone said this and was up voted. I've always liked Apples products, (sans the terrible customer service,) One of my first family computers was an iMac, and I have a hand-me-down iPhone 3GS I've been using as an iPod. I've gotten the chance to try the Nexus 7, and I've gotta say, feels nicer than the iPad.
Oof. I just had to take a break. This video is relentless! Tip from a former media student who studied under a BBC Radio 4 producer guys, edit in a pause for breath every once in a while. It's exhausting to listen to if you don't. Christ. That said, good review so far. I'm getting one of these for Xmas as my iPad is a bit cumbersome to really use outdoors, so it's nice to see it's a pretty capable piece of kit.
I'm going to preface this comment by saying that I'm going to buy the Nexus 7. Now, I played around with the iPad mini for a few days and it feels awesome in the hands. It's a truly beautiful device. And of course, humans are attracted to beauty... :) The price is just ridiculous. I personally don't care about all the hardware stuff cuz I wouldn't be playing games or anything more than simple tasks, but the screen shittyness does show on the iPad mini.
Actually, there IS a pretty good reason to exclude a MicroSD slot, as the internal storage is significantly faster than a MicroSD card, and the software doesn't have to worry about storage being mounted or not, because internal storage is always mounted.
the nexus series is really picking up with the 7" and 10" tabs as well as the new nexus 4. google is going to do well with this bang for buck business model
Hey i was considering buying one and i was reading around and one review said that the screen would do some funny things when trying to register your touching and that alot of the apps didn't work for the nexus that worked for other andriod products. Did they fix these problems or did you encounter any of these problems?
Urgent question. I am buying a Nexus 7 to read books which I have downloaded on pdf. I just want to know if Nexus 7 is good. Will I have to zoom in and adjust everytime I move to the next page while reading? How does a page with 2 columns work on the Nexus 7? Many of my pdfs are with 2 columns. Please help.
I am thinking about getting this for my 12 year old son. Does it have a good selection of apps like the more popular game apps? Also do you have to set up an account and link it to a credit card/debit card? Does the google play gift cards work with this? Thank you
hey for the Google nexus 7 review it does go into portrait view when rotated just pull down notifications and it will have a no rotate button by the time select that and it will rotate
Ummm auto rotation was turned off
But it was on the settings widget
But it was there if they updated it before the review they would have know
This sentence is false

I'm still using today and still love it.

I've had my nexus 7 for about a year now its still fully working in amazing condition. I'm 14 and I'm still enjoying it after a year it is well worth the money !!
Still using it in 2017! Never thought about getting a new one.
I still use my 2012 nexus 7 now and then as a spare tablet. One of the best purchases I made

Love this tablet, just bought myself one and I'm not regretting my purchase at all!
Getting a 32GB Nexus 7 for Christmas. Really like the look and a HD screen is a awesome bonus!
Getting it for Christmas, I'm excited for it. How's gaming on it? Even now with 4.2?

bought my nexus 7 yesterday, and i've not been off it since. brilliant tablet!
i'm really glad you mentioned this, it was almost a make or break for me.
Just ordered one to replace my Kindle Fire. Pretty excited. I'm not gonna regret getting one, am I?
Getting the 2012 one for Christmas :D Still has better performance than other tablets in it's range. The nexus 2013 may have the 2gb RAM but the Nexus 7 2012 handles intensive apps greatly too!
I agree!!! and im getting one for christmas too :'D
Not with tegra 3
This was the best Christmas present ever!!!
Getting one of these bad boys for christmas! CANNOT WAIT!!!
Good to know there's now 32GB availability and HSPA+ option as well. Google Current (as well as all Google apps) have had a major overhaul (for the better) since the filming of this review. The screen does in fact rotate and the OS is still incredibly awesome.
Thanks for the great review, I used this to my advantage in choosing my present for Christmas.. I am getting a 32GB one for Christmas :)
Should i buy nexus 7 12' or dell venue 7? I would use it to watch movies, reading ebooks, taking notes, maybe compiling simple C codes, sometime playing gta or something.
Nexus 7 from 2012 would be good IF YOU ROOT and put a SlimKat ROM on it. :)
Not sure about the anatomy of the battery but, I can tell you from experience I get a very good two days with normal usage with my Nexus 7. I love it!!!
Some AMAZING behind-the-scenes Android improvement which..well..makes Android as smooth as butter!
Looking forward to your review of the Nexus 7 2 which will hopefully be released next week
Hi, it does rotate. You just need to update your settings, this is mentioned in the handbook. Hope this helps someone, awesome video. If I didn't already own one I would go out and buy it!
Great review! Hoping to get this. Keep up the good work!
I just bought a used 2nd gen Nexus 7 off the internet. It's going to be the GPS for my car. Qi wireless charging. Love it!
I got it today for Christmas, and it is really good.

Ill be buying my very first tablet in a couple of days, I'm debating in whether I should get this or the kindle fire hd. Which one would you guys recommend?
this is an absolutely tremendous review
Just bought mine 32gigs its 4am so I'm not gonna turn it on until tomorrow but I'm excited about it!!

This is a great tablet. I am typing on my Nexus 7 32GB and I love it. It is so much better than the iPad Mini.
awesome google, cant wait to buy this tablet. it is so gorgeous at such a lovely price.
Cheers for that, definitely going to buy one now
I'm considering on waiting for an updated Nexus 7. Should I?
After doing research I've decided that this is the tablet for me. One day it'll be mine!
Believe it or not guys but this first generation Nexus 7 actually had a stereo speaker. It really is good for a 7 inch tablet.
Probably the smartest decision you'll ever make. I have a Nexus 7 and it has easily met my expectation.
Oh does it run it well on older hardware? I think it's a built-in feature, my phone does that too and I'm running ICS.
I made the mistake by getting an iPad. But ill be getting the nexus 7 soon. Can't wait!
Hope I win this on Tegra Tuesday!
Thanks Jon and TechnoBuffalo you guy ROCK!
hey. the reason why the nexus 7 will not go into portrait mode is that it has a feature that locks the screen preventing it from switching. drag the screen from the top by the battery to unlock the screen
Hey guys, i want to buy a tablet.do you recommend me to buy this one or some other tab which is better but in a cheap price....{plz tell me}
this one lol its like $150 at walmart last time I checked im thinking about getting one myself
Now its even better. They have the 16 and 32 GB versions now, and they have a 3G data version now. With the new jellybean 4.2, the portrait mode moves now, along with the buttons. Good review Jon.
Bought mine late 2012, not sure if the early 2013 would make a difference or not
yeah I really like the way the Nexus program is going. Going to buy a Nexus 4 when they next become available as well :)

Hi, what didnt you like about the iPad mini? i cant decide between these two..
Yesterday I order the 32gb wifi only. Can't stand the wait!

"The tablet just wants to be picked up and held" That was cute :)
I'm pretty much a novice still with these gadgets, my question is can I use this to connect to a projector and show ppt presentations
Which one did you end up getting? I'm at that stage right now...
I'm going to preface this comment by saying that I'm going to buy the Nexus 7. Now, I played around with the iPad mini for a few days and it feels awesome in the hands. It's a truly beautiful device. I want the 16 gb one for price but I don't know if it's enough storage.. how big (file size) are apps and games?
Are people buying the Nexus straight from google or from other retailers such as sears, walmart, etc?
is it alright to have the original one now?
hey for the Google nexus 7 review it does go into portrait view when rotated just pull down notifications and it will have a no rotate button by the time select that and it will rotate
Thanks good review , straight to the point no faffing about.
I would get this but Google is coming out with the 2nd Gen in July. Wondering if I should wait or not.
