Over lockdown, the popularity of terrariums went through the roof. These little ecosystems in a jar are truly special things, bringing a self-contained genuine jungle into your living room. Mike meets up with Oz - a professional terrarium maker - to see how it's done.

@@Okurka. honestly manscaped is everywhere and it's annoying.
Richard Hammonds world is shaping up nicely.
Where is he hiding?😀
I think this is how he was born.. and from single celled organism into Richard Hamster “always hammered” Hammond.. and then a Hobbit to Hammond
If you make a pond a small human will eventually evolve from the previous creatures and change species?! From water creature to land animal and become a primate to human??And this Darwin BS makes any sense??!!
A little home for Hammu Hammu hahaha
Let’s be real here, no man needs that much space.
Here’s hoping for a 12 months update in the future!
If he isn't fired by then.
@@Okurka. why would he be fired? i love mikes content on the channel.
@@Modi_ Because his videos get 10x less views that the others get.
@@Okurka. well when the other hosts have had the experience and exposure that comes from many years of presenting a globally adored show, it makes sense they would get such viewership on RUclips
Oz has always been a mad man. Went to school to with him and he's a genius
I usually lean heavily toward naturalistic terrariums, but you've captured my heart with that lovely scene!
Despite the lack of James May or anything railway related, I still rather enjoyed this video and would look forward to an update in another 6 months if one were to be promised.
I just spent twenty minutes watching a terrarium. And, I liked it.
For those of you who are complaining about "It's not cars!" remember that they *said* they wanted this channel to be about not just cars anymore. Really, get over it, go subscribe to Rich Rebuilds and watch him fake EPA takedowns . . .
I like this randomness of topics from What Next! It's almost like Tom Scott's channel, like "here's something super interesting you never even thought of to be interested in" I love it! Keep up the great work Mike et al.
In regards to the little bugs, I would imagine that on top of cleaning up dead leaves and providing nutrients into the soil, they also breathe, putting CO² into the "atmosphere" in the terrarium, which the plants then convert back into oxygen!
Also regarding the bonsai tree, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just stressed after being transplanted.
You can also just go to the gardening centre, secretly snap off a single leaf with a bit of stem off of a tradescantia and put that in there. In a year the whole thing'll be overgrown.
Have a beautiful day Everyone ✌️
Someone finally found a use for the Manscaped kit
My ex gifted me one of those Jars. She made it herself. Unfortunately, like our relationship, it failed miserably after a while.
Did the jar also cheat on you?
well that got depressing quickly
I would love to see a semi annual update on this little world.
When I don’t know what to watch this is perfect
I'm so happy they released worm and snail back into the wild
as someone with a plant addiction, yall kinda hit me out of nowhere with this one
Getting out of bed and repotting a few today, this is all I needed 😂 cheers - a fellow green thumb
Definitely need another update in 6 months
How fitting! My students are doing their own closed ecosystem this and next week! 😄
that bonsai looked like a mini mandrake root ( harry potter chamber of secrets).
Really cool project. Also the guy gives vibe of Jesse Pinkman.
These were all the rage back in the 70s when I was growing up. My Mother had one, and I loved it. I am very tempted to start one!
Not one time have I remembered what this channel was
Mega, couldn't think of a better hobby (or career for Babylon) to get into!
How's 3D printing for a what's next? Maybe you, Richard and James could have a design and printing competition for an item set by viewers? 🙂👍
What a chill dude

@@joegoodchild3116 still valid
@@Masterpiecedfor sure.. It wasn’t meant as an insult
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 PRODUCTION TEAM 👏❤️❤️
All that needed was a miniature Indiana Jones.
Oh Gosh, can't believe you're hanging out with the Corsham peacocks! Recommend visiting and seeing the big house as well if you are nearby, Corsham is a very cute Cotswold town.
Love these videos. They are so chill. Those terrariums are legit cool af too.
❤
I keep picturing the locker scene in Men in Black, you open the lid and all the little bugs start chanting hail Mike 😄
Excellent work and great hands. I love the look. An amazing process to follow.
One obscure point; have you noticed any effects of the out gassing of the glue or cement?
Well done
I thought this was a new ''Life in jars?'' video
You missed a trick to say "Manscaped, trim your bush" 🤣🤣🤣
Watching this is so therapeutic 😌
I look forward to the next update on this in the future!
This was pretty cool
This is seriously fascinating stuff! 😃
Very cool & thanks 🤗
This is super cool. They are neat projects and the process was great to watch
NEXT UP YOU COULD TRY TO SET UP AN AQUARIUM! It's basically like this, its own little ecostystem, just underwater :) just please make sure to get someone who actually understands it. There's a lot of interesting chemistry and biology behind setting up the aquarium cycle properly.
That was so satisfying. I would love to be scaled down and go inside that jar😃
Cool, I've always wanted one of these ever since I've seen one on RUclips. Amazing.
Super cool video! The guy is an artist
These are really cool. What a fun project!
Fascinating i have messaged babylon Terrariums straight away. This is a great channel.
So cool. Love your little workers haha. But I would love to take some close ups with my rebel t8i.
This is cool. Hope to see an update :)
Well done Scotty, interesting video.
If you want something to eat the fallen leaves, you need isopods! They're adorable!
Love it!
I'm a bit worried that Richard Hammond got swept up in the soil too. He'll get lost in that jungle.
Better to keep those leaves inside the jar. It will decay and fertilize the soil.
This was very interesting.
this is fascinating! I didn't know this was a thing! how cool!
I have a large old pickle jar that I've been wanting to something like this with.
Actually this video was really interesting. Makes me want to get a terrarium. Thanks
This is so nice 👍
Very interesting! I'd not seen something like this before.
This was super fascinating! Keep us updated 👍🏻
This is really cool. Loving the diverse content output on this channel, you guys are really having your fun with it!
so far being near the sea any sea or being able to see the stars on a clear night somewhere rural its magical feel like a child at christmas
Fantastic video, I really enjoyed it. I now would really like to make my own, where did you get all the items used from?
very cool!
Nice work Oz, Mr Lowe would fall off his chair all over again seein this bro😂👊🏻❤️
Love this💙
Super-cool! 👍👍👍
Dope video
This looks actually really cool. I might even get one myself.
Great video and great way of involving your sponsor! I see so many videos just throwing the likes of Nord VPN in there and tbh, this sponsor had nothing to do with the topic of the video but you managed to incorporate it anyway, great job!
Hey Alexa, order me a terrarium starter kit!
Not what I expected to see on the channel, but welcome all the same.
The moss growing up indicates there isn't enough light, you see the same thing with aquarium plants as they race to grow where they can get adequate light.
Hmmm.. if you add bits and pieces from your manscaped parts and throw them into the jungle will it grow a Fernie?
So cool
Nice!
Maybe a little Adam and Eve living in the cave! I would have a little webcam in it
We're actually living in a giant one 👍
Anyone been a sub to Life in jars before seeing this?🙋🏽♂️
I subscribed last year, but don't get notifications now a days. Maybe I'll get one now! Lol
10:34 if I leave the lid off for awhile though won’t the springtails escape?
Where do you get those glass jars
Honey I shrunk the kids !
They’re in my local pub 😅
I hope corsham gets its train station back
Beautiful pub, wherever it is?
It’s in Corsham, Wiltshire. I live 10 minutes up the road.
Those roots look like a roast chicken, or something...😱
Glass bottle seems too small 🤔 why not make a large one? ...
Your music slaps
is this drivetribe?
I think it might be.
I certainly don't recall subscribing to it, but i AM subscribed to Drivetime
🎉
really i would left the leaves in there to rot, they would help
what if you put a micro rc in there
Hope we get updates
would be cool to build one that grows magic mushrooms
But then you can’t have those little workers in there. They would just gobble the spores up, and even the spores managed to grow and you actually have psilocybin, then they would eat the shrooms and have some beautiful, natural euphoria with a supreme after glow lol.
SIMPSONS DID IT!
V cool
Bro the legendary lawnmower 4.0?????
Is there a comman lawnmower 1.0???
What about a mythical lawnmower 5.0????
How's the Jar of Life
What type of animal is that?
Tree bro has 4 different size 🥜
First time I have seen yo on this channel, more used to Drivetribe etc. I presume a JustFans Daddy channel is next!
Drivetribe?? That was pretty cool..
This isn’t a terrarium - this is a small scale version of our flat Earth …. 😂
Flat?
Flat?
