That’s cuz he genuinely loves Michael and his family (maybe except for Amanda). He’s a bit protective of Jimmy and Tracey and he loves Michael like a brother even after everything Michael did to him
The conversation about Tracey is kinda nice, actually? It's usually Jimmy who comes to Michael with family stuff, makes sense he acknowledges their relationships shouldn't be terrible like that

Jimmy presumably remains there from 2019 onward. As for Tracey, what happened to her is unknown. After the ending of the main game, she decides to go to college. Michael does say that he plans to use his position as a movie producer to help make Tracey a movie star. We know as of “The Contract” thanks to some dialogue from Franklin that Michael is still making movies (at least as of 2021). Though Jimmy can be heard talking on the phone to Tracey while at the arcade, that doesn’t really reveal a whole lot about what she got up to since 2013.

I really like how psychotically realistic Trevor is like he knows what he's doing is fucked up and that's just what he wants to do. He would never have a kid like Micheal because he knows he'd raise him terribly and he blames Michael for getting a family cause they just make their kids miserable, by themselves the people they can hurt the most is themselves (and random strangers that get in their way).

For a bit I thought the guy on the bed at the beginning was Jimmy. And frankly I don't think it'd be out of character for Trevor to stand there and phone call them awake while loudly talking about hanging out at 3AM.
I feel like Trevor immediately entertains the stupid ambitions Jimmy has like wanting to make rap about the streets again because he knows Jimmy is immensely sensitive and will become defensive/upset if those ideas are shot down. He's the character with an affinity for reading people, and genuinely cares about Jimmy and Tracy.
