Thank you mate, thankfully I never had to go to hospital but I was bed bound for 3 days before I could struggle to the doctors then straight back to bed.
Hi Richy, So glad to see you getting back on track. We missed your vlogs and new there must be something wrong.. SORRY to hear you have had the nasty Dengue Fever. BUT you just keep on going. And we will keep on watching. Chin up mate. Catch you in Kanchanaburi again, maybe on our next visit.

Welcome back, Richy! Wow, that's hectic! I am very glad to see you back on the screen and at 80%. Hope the last 20 is easier to get through. You must of felt like you were dying those couple of bed ridden days. Good that you were in a place were you felt comfortable while you go through this. Now that you've had it, are you immune from it again, or at least have an easier time with little or no symptoms? Wow, it really becomes a ghost town in low season. Have you missed out on the Kanchanaburi Dragons match in Bangkok, with the illness? Keep feeling better, mate. Glad to see you back in your feet.
Thanks Greg, it was a nightmare but I feel loads better now mate. The fever I’m not sure, you’re definitely not immune and I’ve heard conflicting things about the next time symptoms.
There are 4 strains (serotypes) of dengue virus. He is now immune for life from the strain that he has had, and will have immmunity for up to 6 months from the other three strains. However he can still catch any of the other three strains in future. Subsequent dengue infections, after the first, are said to be more serious / potentially life threatenning with internal bleeding, heart failure or liver failure. There is now a vaccine Qdenga which is said to be around 85% effective at preventing catching dengue

Hi richy , I luckily avoided dengu but I suffered multiple mosquito bites last month in Thailand which shortened my holiday . There is in fact a new vaccine for dengue but only available to people who have already had it , I have sent you a link in messenger. Good luck
@@jamessmith1652correct, the old dengue vaccine Dengvaxia was a 3 dose schedule and only for people who had already had dengue (was about 65% effective). The new vaccine Qdenga is a two dose vaccine given 3 months apart (said to be 85% effective)
Nice to see you up and about Rich. Another good vid. You need to try a massage. When I was in Thailand I did a lot of walking and my feet were battered with blisters etc. I went for a proper foot massage (no long time parlour) and it was pure bliss. Hi Rich. Can u tell me if I should get a dengue fever vaccine before coming to Kanchanaburi
Hi Tony, I’ll be honest I know nothing about the vaccine mate. The best thing I can recommend is doing a bit of research online.
Do you not use mosquito repellent? That pink stuff from 7/11 works well.
I’m not keen on putting chemicals on my skin to be honest mate. I use tiger balm which is natural when I get a bite and that works well to soothe it.
I had dengue fever.i self diagnosed myself because i had such a headache behind my eyes.i couldn't get of sofa for 2 days.living alone no food etc.3rd day had rash all over body.felt like death.
Took me weeks to get over it
I went to get blood test after 5 days.blood platelets were very low.
Exactly! The blood needs regenerating to get your strength back! It's normally a saline drip feed over time. Takes ages to fully recover!
It is a nightmare isn’t it Simon, made worse if there is no one to help. Luckily I had some good friends in the hotel.
Because of that, I carry most of the time insect repellent with me. My partner cached it last time here in Vietnam. - Its a nightmare - Enjoy
Thanks mate, it was bad but I feel great now after 10 or so days
How do u naturally prevent dengue or minimize its effects, if u get it?
You can you mosquito spray which I don’t like because of deet which is cancerous, also I’ve been told you can get a vaccine which again I’m very dubious about them too. It’s the first time I’ve had this in my 12 months in Asia. After getting it all you can do is drink plenty of water and rest.

It is a nightmare isn’t it mate.
Have you got the infection stats pre Covid as the numbers will have gone down vastly over 2020 covid period? Maybe the figure is merely rising back to what they were pre-Covid?
