Be warned that it can 'Kick in' again at times, often for a day or so over the next months! Took me 6 months plus to feel really better! You will get a total power loss at times, lazy, tired and apathy hit you all at once.

Good that you were in a place were you felt comfortable while you go through this.
Now that you've had it, are you immune from it again, or at least have an easier time with little or no symptoms?
Wow, it really becomes a ghost town in low season.

There are 4 strains (serotypes) of dengue virus. He is now immune for life from the strain that he has had, and will have immmunity for up to 6 months from the other three strains. However he can still catch any of the other three strains in future. Subsequent dengue infections, after the first, are said to be more serious / potentially life threatenning with internal bleeding, heart failure or liver failure. There is now a vaccine Qdenga which is said to be around 85% effective at preventing catching dengue

Dengue fever is also a lingering sickness! After the main 10 day bout, It comes and goes over the next months in varying stages! No appetite, aching bones, joints and eyes. You just have to 'sit it out ' as you say! I've had it twice. * Old ladies in the village made me a hot tea drink from Papaya leaves. That seemed to help. * First solids I could eat was Papaya. It won't go away completely for a while! Take it easy! **Early mornings and evenings are the most 'suspect times' for getting bitten!
