Dengue Fever Experience: Why I'm Glad It Happened
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗜 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. In light of what’s happening in our country now, I feel called to tell my story. As many of you know, I was bit by the wrong mosquito while on Gili island in Indonesia, and caught dengue fever. My white blood cells and platelets dropped to scary levels. At the same time, the place I was receiving medical care (Bali) had its first death from COVID19. Pairing a person with dengue fever with a person with COVID19 is a recipe for disaster . Clearly, from an outsiders view, this seems like it would be the worst month of ones life. But it was my best. And I hope my story can help you during this difficult time

Wow, thanks for sharing. My brother had Dengue Fever about 10 years ago - it took him WEEKS to find out what it was! Glad you are better now :-)
Wow!! Why did it take so long? Was he in an area that it's not as common, or just rural where there wasn't testing available?
Way to see the silver lining on your experience. I'm all about gut health, so this is great!
Ohh! Welcome welcome. And yes totally. I think life is in general a rollercoaster but really great things can often come from really hard challenges. Anything in particular about gut health that has you excited lately?
Yikes! The bleeding under the skin is so scary!!! Your video was so interesting:) I really liked hearing about how healthcare works over there from firsthand experience👍👍
It was so terrifying!! Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was so impressed. Have you ever been sick in a foreign country?
@@OswaldDigestiveClinic Luckily I have not, I imagine it would be tough with language barriers etc!
MegsRx4Life totally. I was fortunate that many of the Bali locals spoke pretty good English!

Dengue is common in my country (Brazil)... Who could say that we would miss it having now all this COVID-19 pandemic thing? 😞
Aprender Idiomas Sozinho oh I bet. I’ve been thinking a lot about areas that are struggling with both. Have you gotten dengue yourself? How is your area doing with the COVID? ❤️

That's really scary! Dengue is also prevalent in the Philippines where I'm from. It can actually kill people, it's serious. I'm glad you got out of it fine and that's great that people have responded and helped you right away.
I've been really wanting to go to Bali to do yoga and meditation. I guess I'd have to check when it isn't raining a lot there.Thank you for sharing your experience.
OH I totally agree! It was definitely scary and really did fire me up for to help make a difference in global warming and other factors that might be contributing. Have you ever had it? I hear you! I am sooo in love with Bali. Where do you plan to go? I was in Ubud most the time, and look forward to going back to explore more.
@@OswaldDigestiveClinic my sister had it and it was terrifying especially we hear a lot in the news that many people die from it. Partly because most people are poor and we don't really have free medical health back home.
Yes, global warming is actually worst in Asia. For some reason. western countries thinking they are the big contributor. Wait until they actually go to Asia and see what bad looks like.
I don't know where to go yet I just know it's one of the Asian countries I would love to visit. :)
How scary being out of the country and so sick!
Totally was! Life is full of ups and downs that mold our character. Thanks for watching!
Wow not the best experience. I am from Venezuela and also had Dengue like 5 years ago and i know that is not the mildest thing ever but i can imagine it being even worse during the Coronavirus pandemic going on! I am glad you are better now!
Wow! Yes, I am so grateful. What was your experience like?
Scary thing about Dengue is there are 4 strains. If you get another strain the symptoms get even worse. Up to 20% mortality rate for re-infections. Not sure if you covered this sorry - WW
Thank you for the insight!
What a story. Often the best gifts are wrapped in adversity.
Wade Binley I totally agree! Has anything like this happened to you?
