3:33 Actually found this out doing one of these trials. If a creature you defeat shatters from bring frozen, you don't get the credit from their corpse in the final score, and so the only way to get a platinum medal is by collecting all the treasure in enough time to compensate for the lost profit.
In one challenge, I killed something while frozen and got everything else in enough time to get the EXACT amount of points for platinum, got 170 points out of 170 needed for platinum.
Totally agree the auto lock on is annoying as hell. Artificially stops me from throwing more at something than the game thinks I need. Especially when there is a group of objects it's like "Just let me throw them!"
If there’s a group of objects, you can just use charge on it. The pikmin will grab anything close by and then you can whistle the pikmin off of anything you didn’t want. Super handy if you don’t want to deal with the pikmin getting stuck on objects you didn’t want them to grab since it’s usually better and faster to just grab everything and whistle back pikmin carrying unneeded objects.
@@theguythatasked6400 that’s usually because those pikmin were lagging behind and weren’t close enough for the charge to register. Easy fix, just give them a second to catch up.

You can throw a bomb in Emperor's mouth just like in Pikmin 1 dude. After that it's pretty easy to kill him in a single cycle with an Ultra Spicy Spray.
I like that Pikmin 4 mixed both effects of electric hazards from previous games. Pikmin 2- Instant kill. Very harsh, made Yellow Pikmin very valuable, and one of the most reasonables types to use in the Final Boss (Purple if you want to go fast, yellow if you want to play safer). Pikmin 3- Total opposite. Electricity just stunts non-Yellow Pikmin. This leaves Pikmin open to being attacked; however, enemies in Pikmin 3 are very tame, not as aggressive, and there's just a very few situations with enemies that can actually kill your Pikmin making a combo with an electric enemy/hazard. This made the hazard stop being unfair, but it made it a non-hazard. Pikmin 4- Finally a balance: Electricity stunts like in 3, but this times there are more environments and enemies in conjunction to make the stunt dangerous, AND just like water and fire, if left in shock Pikmin die after a few seconds. So, now electricity is a true hazard again, but without making it insanely punishing (That honor goes for the Smoky Prog venom mist and the Final Boss now).
Rock pikmin dieing from crushing is intended (they are only immume on "soft" ground). As for the drowning ice pikmin, that is probably an oversight (tough ive had it happen myself.
