I think that the oversaturation of bosses is something I didn't mind... only problem is that it led to the bosses being easier compared to how they originally were... like water wraith was much more difficult in pikmin 2... but I can see that they had to nerf them considering cavern for a king is just ALL the bosses (most of them) in 1 cave
Each Pikmin game has its iconic boss. 1 has the Emperor Bulblax, 2 has the Water Wraith, 3 has the Plasm Wraith, and for 4 I’d say that title goes to Groovy
I find it funny that in 2 and 4, they generally make the final boss iconic (since in 2 they gave the Dweevil family the star of the show, and in 4 they gave the Space Dogs the star of the show), yet a different boss is considered iconic.
I would’ve loved it if the bosses had more presence to them like they did in Pikmin 3. They had whole intros that made you feel like you were really in for a tough scrap. But in Pikmin 4 it just kinda like “oh shoot, there’s a big guy!” And you get on with the battle. Now I’m not opposed to cutting right to the chase, but it would’ve been cool if the Sovreign bulblax, the Man at Legs, the Foolix, and especially the Groovy Long Legs for it being likely your first major boss, had bigger intros to them to really sell the spectacle
Tbh, the sirehound is better, he has METAL EPIC MUSIC, his design is crazy, the arena is so cool, The elemental attacks work really well, and its pretty challenging even with Oatchi
Finally. Someone understands that the Fluttertail reminds me of Frostmoth. Also you missed out for Toxstool. It has the ability to revive the Moldy Dwarf Bulborbs and Moldy Slooches in its cave. It makes it more interesting.
Because that ability is so underwhelming, it’s laughable. None of those enemies are that threatening, even when revived, so it doesn’t matter if it’s a unique feature, the boss still underwhelms with the Puffstool Line having no ability to create Puffmin. Especially since the Oatchi rush quickly destroys these foes.
Random thought, if the final boss is a giant dog similar to Oatchi and yet it has the title of being ancient, wouldn’t that mean that Shepherd’s ancestors are human? Not to mention that in the journal logs it shows Shepard’s ancestors talking about “escaping the planet.” and what if it’s not just Shepherd… but everybody! Olimar, Alph, Louie, (that one’s a bit debatable) and the entire rescue corps team! Oh! And my favorite boss is the groovy long legs! That man just has da MOVES!

You did kinda miss out the fact Water Wraith got nerfed due to the metal arches that can block it, being added, and then there's Oatchi speed-boosting leaf pikmin and focusing the pikmin crowd via piggybacking. The piggybacking makes it way easier to evade the Water Wraith, and removed the difficulty for leaf pikmin to run away, and keep in mind in Pikmin 2 there was those orange living balloons that could de-flower every single pikmin you have in one move, which then makes gaining distance to make a move, way harder as leaf pikmin were barely faster than the Water Wraith. This change is no more dominant than in the Engulfed Castle. In the Submerged Castle there are a lot of important points that were lethal to be caught in by the Water Wraith, and there was very few 100% safe spaces, meaning any loose pikmin can and likely WILL die when the Water Wraith stumbles upon them. Hell, Submerged castle had a whole path filled with water, that was a choke point for the Water Wraith to plow through like a lawnmower. Now there is a metal arch to shield that area.
I'm actually happy that Pikmin 4 went back to the classic style of boss encounters that 1 and 2 had. While 4's bosses were indeed easier than 2's, I like that the game didn't stop me from defeating a boss in a single cycle the way it did in Pikmin 3. While 3's bosses were grande in scale, that's really all they were. Just big. But they weren't fun fights, and didn't truly test your skill level, because they had a damage cap on them, so I'm glad 4 did away with that (or if they didn't, it at least doesn't feel like a cap), and went back to the 1 and 2 style of bosses. I just wish they had more HP in 4, and weren't quite as easy.
"While 3s bosses were grand in scale, that's really all they were. Just big. But they weren't fun fights and didn't truly test your skill level." But hey! It's still better than Hey! Pikmin(?).
I think if the Puffy Blowhog of all creatures can count as a boss, because it is at the end of a cave, then the Masterhop and the Mammoth Snootwhacker should definitely have counted too, since they are also both the last enemy of a cave and feel way more like a boss. Masterhop I care less about, they did use him later like he was just a normal enemy, similar to puffy blowhog but the mammoth snootwhacker definitely should count imo.
I feel like the giant enemies are a tribute to Hey! Pikmin. The few of the bosses in Hey! The groovy long legs caught me off gaurd because I thought the cave where it was at had a party or something in it so I thought all the wild pikmin there were under the disco ball in the big room

I’m glad Sirehound was #1, cause I feel like Sirehound embodied a lot of the powers of the Pikmin, which I thought was SUPER dope (the fire powers, lightning powers, flying, ice powers, the crashing with rocks, they just feel like references to the powers of the Pikmin, IMO).

I think part of the problem with Pikmin 4 is that the boss’s challenge level and Pikmin casualty numbers are sorely limited through oatchi. Oatchi makes the fights more exhilarating with how fast and agile he is but like I’m never gonna lose Pikmin when he’s by my side
Not many of these bosses really felt like bosses, I felt like the Ancient Sirehound was the first one. Of course, I fought Groovy Long Legs after that and he was kinda a pushover, but the bosses kind of just appeared like in Pikmin 1.
My first ever fight with the Bug-Eyed Crawmad in my Pikmin 3 run was a pain. So it kinda hurt when you gave it a lower rating. Also yeah, the weakened old bosses was kind of sad. I haven’t played 1 or 2 yet but I know of the Smoky Progg and the Water Wraith, super infamous. They were just… disappointing in 4.

And if you press Turbo + any button you can just hold it and it auto fires. Long story short, Turbo + A = Pikmin Semi-Automic.
Personally, I think pikmin 4 should have had more unique new bosses. Like, until serene shores, most of the bosses were either big enemies, or enemies being treated like a boss.
Water Wraith gets negative bonus points for the castle in my list. The castle is so easy I got through it without seeing it spawn once even with 0 upgrades.
Spoilers for final boss: Even though the final boss was really well designed, I'm a little disappointed that only 3 hazard types were implemented. Though, I understand that adding new phases to the fight would make it drag out.
Tbh Pikmin 4 as a whole is harder once you remove the ability to ride on Oatchi. All of a sudden all of Pikmin 4's bosses are harder. I did this with the Groovy and it made the fight 10x harder. There is a strat to lose minimal Pikmin, but requires you to predict its movements.
Great list, but I think the worst boss (personally) is the Puffstool, almost due entirely to the fact that its standout gimmick of creating Puffmin has been removed. My level of disappointment was never greater, and I feel like that takes off extra points just for the letdown. Plus it's painfully easy and literally cannot hurt your Pikmin.

1:26 why is bro pointing a shotgun at oatchi
Grooby LoNg kneeeeeees? In second place, what are those bonus points for?
The big eyed crawdad boss theme is lit though
Is dandori louie a boss? If yes its my favorite!
Fun fact, Man-At-Legs in Spanish is named Arañator that translates as Spidernator ☝️🤓
This video could have started with the beautiful musical opener.
New Scream Attack, IT WAS AN PIKMIN 2!
The water WRAITH is my favourite boss also can you make a video about fan made Pikmin
The Empress bulblax is not based on a queen bee,but a queen termite
my favourite boss is snowflake fluttertail, but my favourite enemy in the whole game is creeping chrysanthemum
giant breadbug and disco longlegs are the most unique
I agree with ranking of the groovy long legs
Is no one gonna talk about him saying "sir hound"
The first time I saw man at legs I freaked out and just ran away it’s a freaking spider with a gun
Giant breadbug should be 1st place
