The lowest price tier for Disney Plus now includes ads hence the cut to black moments for those who get the ads. I have the no ad subscription so it intially threw me off too 😕 I feel like Annabeth is a bit more chatty in the books since she's usually rattling off Greek mythology facts, but I'm assuming that aspect of her character is coming later. I do like her chemistry with Percy since I think Leah and Walker play off each other really well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. I think the issues of some of the story feeling rushed/not as fleshed out as the book version are due to the fact that the first season was only given 8 episodes so they had to cram in a LOT of information as quickly as possible. 3 episodes at the camp would be too much I think, it makes more sense that they pack as much setup as they can into the first 2 and leave the rest for the quest. Unfortunately that doesn't leave time for every single detail to be covered (especially since the Luke & Percy relationship needs to be the main focus atm for spoiler reasons later) but like you said I think they're doing a good job for the timing constraints they have to work with
the way that i see the thing about annabeth's appearance is that 95% of the time her appearance is mentioned in the books, its thru percy trying to describe to us how beautiful she is to him. and if ykwim i dont think that has much to do with her physical appearance

Others need to realize not everything can be crammed in and things might need to be changed a little. I’m fine with the changes so far. It doesn’t ruin it. I can see why little things were changed. Can’t wait to see the rest of the season!
the version of the 1st book i have has 22 chapters. based off of where we are in the show to the books, we would be 9 chapters in. thats about 40% of the book done in 2 out of 8 episodes. the problem with the show is that they wanna cram a whole detail-filled book into 8, 30 min episodes. so much so, that the show is suffering in detailed world building, character personality, and general book accurate scenes. if Disney (this was 100% Disney's fault, because they don't seem to want to be serious about the show.)keeps this up, the potential impact of later events wont be felt as great. and the show isn't gonna carry well.

@@erikperhs_ that's probably why they did, im just mad Disney seems to want to force the show into 8 episodes, when they could have done it in 10, or at least make the 8 episodes an hour long each. Many details about the camp, and the rest of the world, don't look like they'll be expanded on in the first season, and if the next seasons are like this, they'll lose a lot of potential. Kinda like when Game of thrones wanted to end the show with only 6 episodes, when it clearly need at least 10, or a whole new season.
Fun note on the contacts and hair colour stuff. When it came to Harry Potter it was said that Draco’s actor’s hair suffered a lot from the hair dye and Danielle suffered a lot from the contacts. Like their use is not really easy compared to what some people might think, so the industry takes a beat especially with child actors before having them used.

I love Leah as Annabeth, I think she embodies her perfectly. I will admit tho, I was a bit unsure about the casting because Annabeth's looks actually DO become kinda important later down the line. Of course we don't even know if they would ever adapt the Heroes of Olympus or Magnus Chase so rn it doesn't really matter. To just explain what I mean SPOILER for Magnus Chase . . . . . . . . . . If you read Magnus Chase, you know him and Annabeth are cousins, and I mean like on the human level. He's also described as a blonde. Magnus's mum is the sister of Annabeth's dad. And we find out there is another brother. All 3 of them apparently come from a line of some Nordic/Viking kings or something if I remember correctly so them being blonde and having overall Nordic characteristics makes sense. But of course, Rick was the one who approved everything so maybe he has an idea how to go around it if there would ever be a need.
I don't think they'll actually get out to Magnus Chase but if they do its easy enough to get around that by making it so Annabeth takes after Athena. It would even make sense and add to her complicated familial feelings if all her family and cousins look Nordic and her dad never talked about her mom.

The other thing I really can’t stand is the constant exposition. Like with Thalia or the ‘Forbidden children’. They couldn’t help but just have Luke monologue it all out instead of it naturally appearing as little dots of mystery throughout the story.
His charisma is 3-4/5. Think his dialogue didn’t show his character much and was too exposition-focused. I’m glad they didn’t foreshadow too vehemently to keep people guessing. I do wish they had kept slightly more mystery about Thalia. Luke could have had more sadness portrayed. I still think he could have his moment since Rick did such a good job with the trio dynamics.
