  • 2 Videos already?? Working hard to keep you all updated! We got our off-grid water system working! Hot water off-grid feels like magic! Clean hair and a happy heart! In this episode, I show you how we prime our water system and set up our gravity fed water off Grid. We start drywalling our bathroom and we ran out of solar power. Showing you a bit of our land living off-grid and more! If you have any recommendations or feedback please let me know! Can't wait to share the progress. #GoingOffGrid is hard work, but it will be so worth it! We could not do this without the help of our family and friends! Since May we have been renovating this abandoned cabin and turning it into our full-time home! We are moving into our #oneroomcabin ! We still have a lot of renovations to do but it is almost complete! #cabinrenovation #movingoffgrid #offgridhomes #livingoffgrid #cabintour #cabinhomes #offgridsolar #goingoffgrid #cabinmakeover

    Growing up together as high school sweethearts, we got married at 19 in August of 2016. We have always dreamed of a life of adventure! We started traveling the US any free weekend we had, finding free campgrounds wherever we could, and even converting our truckbed into a home for three weeks to make the trip across the country. After 4 years of college and 2 corporate jobs, we decided this typical lifestyle is not for us. Because of RONA, our jobs let us work remotely full time and so we decided to take the leap. We started this #goingoffgridvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but hope to share helpful tips along the way! We have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to be able to jump into this lifestyle. :)

    Relocate the fireplace to the front left corner of the room. Get it out of the middle of the room. Switch sides and put kitchen table where the couch currently is, and couch and tv on side with fireplace. Set tv on a console. The tv being up so high is going to not only be an eyesore, but a huge strain on your necks!

    1st here: It’s getting there. Having the water situation working is great and very happy for you. The struggle probably made it seem worth when it finally worked. Now you can watch t.v. when you are in for the night.Progress is happening even it takes longer than anticipated. You should be proud of yourselves! It’s a work in progress and look at all the skills you will have in your arsenal when things need fixed later.

    That was painful. But the good in the whole situation is that if anything at all goes wrong now you are so conversant with all the workings you will have the confidence to fix it. Both of you!! Looking forward to the drywall.

    I'm so happy for you both. Each time you successfully complete something it is another step forward. Things will get easier now that you are living there and you get familiar with the house. You might want to consider putting in some drainage culverts on your driveway to divert the run off so that your gravel does not erode away. Look at 50 acres and a cabin to see how he found a solution.

    • @alliejcurtin
      @alliejcurtin  3 года назад

      Thank you so much! We have come a long way and it is paying off. :) We actually bought 3 culverts to put in so hopefully that helps before gravel. Thank you! :)

    • @bonesonstones1
      @bonesonstones1 3 года назад +1

      Also: if you keep your water running in the house overnight, just a few drips, it usually keeps the water moving enough through pipes and tanks that they can't freeze. Doesn't always work in super cold weather and can be annoying to hear though!
