Just Awesome, I replaced my timing belt, tensioner, water pump and replaced the radiator at the same time 2 years ago on my 81 spider. I did it with engine in place and it and it was nerve racking making sure everything was timed correctly not to make a mistake. I was proud of myself that I was able to do the job. The only goof up I made was I did break off one of the small mounting bolts on the water pump to the engine block and had to drill and tap a new hole with engine in place which is not an easy task. When it says 12lbs of torque it means it or it will snap like a twig. I will eventually remove my head to rebuilt it as I think the valve seals are worn and making it lack of power it should have. So will do it all over again. I would prefer to source all parts to put together a new complete head and just do a swap out but no luck finding good complete head. Dont want her down for long because I love dropping the top every weekend I can. Please keep making detailed vids as I am loving watching to help me with my car. I do have a quick vid of my car engine running on my youtube link
I was installing the shock brackets on the rear wheels of my 850 when I realized I had put them in the wrong place. I put them INSIDE the wheel well, which seemed logical. Only after I got them on did I realize they go on the other side. Ooops, do it again. So don't feel bad, you're not alone. That's a beautiful engine. Can't wait to hear it run.
Great job…especially since you’re humble enough to recognized you messed up the pulleys’ order…;-)) Now, if might say so, get a can of RED VHT engine paint and spray those valve covers. You can get finicky enough to get the kind that puts a wrinkle texture on them…like those fancy prancing horses valve covers you see out there…believe me, you’ll be pleased. I did it on mine and it REALLY pops the engine.
I’m not perfect, but I want to make sure anyone else out there doesn’t make my mistakes! I really like the wrinkle paint and have thought about it! I’m just worried about it sticking and staying through all the heat. How has yours held up?
14:27 that was 4 rotations, but doesn't matter. I had this engine in the 1.8 size & I think you could put a brick on the accelerator & walk away & not worry about it.
I don’t know why I thought this was going to be more dramatic. The drama was all in that red color. At first I didn’t think I liked the idea. In the end, I am sold. Looks good. Plus, “Go Coogs!”

I noticed immediately when you started cranking it. Seemed wrong. Nice work overall! Looks nice and clean. Can’t wait to hear it start up.

Hi Mr.Marshall It’s A Barnes

IMO it looks like the two front head bolts intrude on the space needed for the thermostat housing.
It fit! I didn’t have any clearance issues.

More the merrier! Better safe than sorry I say! Haha

It’s the mystery… glad you like it! GO COOGS!
How much do you think you have in this build so far?
I’d have to look. I think at the end I’d do a “total cost” video of people are interested in that
