Saga feeding ice cream to the both of you was so sweet. It's also heart warming to see Saga and Max connecting with Maya to where she grew up. I know that it's not easy to have roots in very different countries. I'm Black and Japanese and from California(LA/NorCal) and it was always a financial struggle to go with my mom and sister to visit family in Kyoto and connect to where she grew up. I went with my mom and sister only once for my grandmother's funeral when I was 1 year old so I don't remember anything, but there are photos. I honestly get emotional watching your family because my mom passed away this summer and we were hoping to finally go to Kyoto in the spring of next year with her. The fact that you guys are a multicultural family from different countries and show the endeavors of what it's like encourages me as hard as it is and has been to embrace my own experiences and sense of belonging. I don't know if Max identifies with being more on the introverted side like myself, but I can relate to not being comfortable showing all of my personality in public situations. I think I'm the same age as Max and can relate to his sensitivity and the effort he puts in to engage with people, and I found Maya on yt like a lot of other folks over a decade ago because of her hair videos and her inspiring with her shameless journey. I'm honestly amazed by how driven you both are and how courageous you are too to share your lives with the world. I don't usually engage on yt but watching your content with family these days is helping me cope with my mom passing away. I don't see myself ever starting a family, but I hope to push myself to engage in community. Watching you guys do it in your own way is beautiful to see. I can feel how important this trip is for you guys as well as how stressful and important having the dream of being able to live close to or in Canada and Sweden is. I wish you and your family good health and many more bonding experiences like this to come. Also, I thought it was funny and meant to be that you guys discovered the Ikea by the mall. I feel like it represented how you both have been sharing nostalgic experiences with each other lately.
I’ve been subscribed to Maya since she uploaded her very first video, so something about learning about her old stomping grounds on this vlog…is a whole new vibe! I love the way you both are so excited about this trip! Also, I love how Saga was SO excited about the Christmas inflatables 🩷. Another great vlog! 🫶🏾
It’s not just Max though, we are now seeing the family dynamic and how you all get along and I believe its the fact that you have to upload everyday and you’re not cutting out so much, but using more footage, and now we get to be with you guys more.😊 It’s like being in a relationship, but living in separate houses, you don’t see how messy someone is or that they talk to themselves or sing in the shower. When you move in, you get comfy and let it all hang out. Lol.
Scarborough is now Toronto. In 1998/1999, 6 cities amalgamated into one city which is Toronto. Those cities are Etobicoke, York, North York, East York, Scarborough, and the actual city of Toronto.
Maya It's nice to see you smiling as you go down memory lane and being all nostalgic (although I got a little sad about the basement and the Christmas tree). I would say not to move to the city; no city anywhere. With the current state of the world and the trajectory in which it's going, it's better to live in the country and grow your own food... but that's another conversation.
I grew up in Scarborough (McCowan and Finch). I LIVED at STC in the 90's. I can honestly say I do not recognize it at all anymore!!! But dressing up and going there to flirt with boys was definitely memorable😊 Thanks for bringing back happy memories ❤
Such a wholesome vlog today guys. I love to see this journey back to your childhood. In this regard, the same sentiment was felt for Max's journey as well. As adults we sometimes think so much of our future, hopes, families and dreams that we forget our past. But, this also chokes me up as I know when you watch these videos when you're older or when your family expand (Saga as a mom for instance) it would be so cherished. Much love for you both for bringing us along on this side of your lives. Thank you.🥰
Hello Max, Maya, Saga, Lola and Jackie. Maya, thankyou for sharing your childhood days. Really enjoyed that. Going to miss the daily videos when vlogmas ends.
The fact that you are back in your childhood neighbourhood with your daughter and your husband for the first time...woww that should have felt like a 360 moment. I love that you guys show us these moments, they are precious!!xx
I have been thinking about what you started discussing at 16:00. I think like an open loft style place with lots of flexible space that allows you to make it fit and become part studio part living space would be awesome for you and very possible in the GTA. The beaches is also beautiful too.
Lol Maya forgot about the 1998 amalgamation by the old mayor Mel Lastman, that merged all the cities together to make it one Toronto. The GTA is Brampton, Mississauga, Pickering, Vaughan, Richmond hill, etc. Welcome home!
Love watching this journey down memory lane! I went to elementary school at Military Trail school, around Morningside. I haven’t been to Scarborough Town Center in absolutely forever so I’m sure I would be in for a shock lol
You know what? These vlogs remind me of when Maya used to vlog when she lived in NYC. There was a change when she lived in Cali. These vlogs are definitely reminding me of why I loved her vlogs. These are more real, as in more relaxed not everything so polished, like we’re watching a tv show, not set up like interviews, but just coming along during your life and then the editing skills are on point, that just is the topping that brings everything together (chef’s kiss). I saw the difference when the daily vlogs started picking up. These are the type of vlogs I like to see from people.
Hi Maya and Max, This has been such a warm experience, your delivery on this video!! I felt as if you picked me up from the Airport and took me on a journey through Scarborough..It is appreciated, you taking the time to share your family life . Thank you many blessings.🎉🎉
your Vlogs are always so soothing. It's nice to see folks keeping it wholesome on this YT app. you all are wonderful parents with a sweet reflection of that.
👍🤩💝I loved watching. I’ve been to Toronto many times as a teenager and young adult. I absolutely enjoyed you taking us down memory lane with you. Thank you. 🙏💝
Great video. Felt like I was walking down memory lane with you, with me being 2 yrs older than you & hung out at town centre in highschool. #goodtimes. Love toronto however toronto is somewhat uninspiring after living in other parts of the world. Wish you guys the best in your future 'where do we live?' decision making.
WELCOME HOME MAYA & FAM!! Yes SCARBERIA is a suburb of T.O./The Six. Toronto was initially made up of 6 BOROUGHS until a no. of the suburban boroughs started to become designated Cities. Eventually they amalgamated the 6 areas back into 1 large city again. Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke are suburbs of T.O. Love the trip to Scarb and the mall with the NEW IKEA. Great seeing how some of these suburban neighbourhoods have changed over the yrs.
I came across this channel last year from your travels to Mexico and Guatemala. But I have been following Shameless Maya since her very first video on YT. Shamelessly promoting herself on social media for a year and see what happens. That video inspired me as I resonated so much with what she was saying at the time. Anyways so happy to be part of this season of your lives. It's amazing to see the life and family you are building. Happy holidays.
I wanna see Max work out with Lola and Saga!! That would be so cute! ❤ STC recently got Ikea, such a game changer!! Did you guys check out the Scarborough Spots pop-up? They sell Scarborough hoodies, touques and other cool things!! Loved seeing the tour of Scarborough 😁 The 3 of guys having icecream at STC is so cute!! 🥰 Also Saga and her pink Carebear!! Super cute!! 😍💕 Speaking about the Christmas inflatables, there's a street where a bunch of neighbors have the same Santa, its so much fun to see. Its by St. Clair and Mount Pleasant! Also on Brenyon Way in Malvern there's a few neighbors who decorated their front porch, Saga would love it!! 🎅
Agreed that you all need to get far away from those Mack trucks. The highway is too close to your quaint home. Also, I never knew squirrels made sounds. That one said, "hi" or something else. Whatever you use on your hair has those waves on swim!
Yayyyy Scarborough! Been here 20 years 🩵🩵💃🏾💃🏾 and omg I didn’t know Scarborough people had an accent because whennnn LOL and I do love Scarborough, truly. I love Canada 😄 merry Christmas love
This is my daily cup of tea. Thank you so much for sharing your lives. Imma binge watch some other videos till tomorrow . I stopped watching vlogs for a long time so I have to catch up on your lives 😂
You grew up at midland and Lawrence. That’s wild. We move to that area in 96. I went to Midland CI. We lived on romulous. My mom moved after we moved out. Miss that neighborhood so much. STC shenanigans. The walk from the RT (rip) to the mall always gave me anxiety IYKYK 😂
Loved this vlogmas episode. Wow. My cousins and brother are still in Scarborough but I haven't visited since 2008! Thanks for the update and for going down memory lane Maya (and Max). Happy Holidays everyone🎉🎉
Hi, I’m Canadian living in the UK and when my British husband and I visit Ontario, we arrived at a similar conclusion…there just aren’t the coffee shops in Ontario, like they are in England and Europe. We are moving to Canada this year and we know it’s not going to be same, to be able to go to a coffee shop and order a “fancy” coffee like we do in Europe. We were looking at buying a fancy coffee machine once we get to Canada…so we can make nice coffees at home 😂 I imagine in Toronto city or other major cities, it’s easier to get a “fancy” coffee, but not everyone lives in a city…anywho, thanks for making that observation because my husband and I noticed that too…the lack of coffee shops, outside of a city centre.
Love the idea of living in different countries for a few months. However what is the situation guys with leaving a house without being used? For example my parents have an apartment in Russia yet live longer in Canada, the plumber from Russia told it was really bad for pipes and risks having a flood. They switch off water yet still.
He can’t drive without an international drivers liscence but i doupt anyone would make problems if he just showed his EU one…love the series…so cute ❤️🥰…the two of you are both so wholesome and attractive but yet so different…
Big up STC! Now I'm craving a patty from Allan's Pastry shop 😅thanks for taking us around town, you've come such a long way Maya. Great job on the edit Max!
Maya I ❤you and the family. I have to say, and this is before you coming home to Canada, it seems like you don't really feel Sweden..you kind of make these comments about you living there and you would like to move. Have you guys ever discussed that? It must be so hard you & Max being torn, because his family is in Europe while your mom, etc are in Canada. Even with this trip you are lightling up in a way never seen before. Anyway glad you're enjoying it! And Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁🌲 Oh one more question Saga is soo ADORABLE, I know you said she will be bilingual but it seems that she only speaks Swedish. And pls don't take these things rude. They are just general questions and I only started following you a lil over 6 mos ago. ❤
Come thru Scarborough! Can’t believe we filmed and Max edited this on the same day 🤯Only a few days left of Vlogmas!!!
Wow that is impressive. Maya it is so nice to really see what it was like growing up for you. I do appreciate Vlogmas. Love from Chicago.
Maya you do look like your mom, just a darker complexion and curly hair. 😊 I can see the resemblance even more when you smile.
and with your cousins too!

@ItsMona4Me. Is her Dad in Scarborough?
Thank you for riding all these years! That’s over a decade! 🙏🏾💕 Maya
Maya took her beautiful laughter from her mom and now Saga has the same laughter😂🎉 what a joy❤❤❤

That is such a funny and relatable analogy 🤣🙏🏻🎉🙏🏾

Oh my gosh I didn’t want this episode to finish… I haven’t been to Scarborough in 13 years. They way you guys were excited I was also 😂❤❤❤❤❤
Hello Max, Maya, Saga, Lola and Jackie. Maya, thankyou for sharing your childhood days. Really enjoyed that. Going to miss the daily videos when vlogmas ends.
We’re gonna miss you! It’s been great reading your comments along with others who have been watching all our videos 🙏🏻✨🙏🏾
Thanks Maya, for taking us down your 'Memory Lane'! I really enjoyed it! Happy Monday!

Scarborough, deep sigh. Good and sad memories. ❤

Walking the different neighborhoods throughout the city is always a fun way to explore: St. Clair W, parkdale, queen west.
Maya is so beautiful 🥰 #thatisall 🥰
This introspection is soooo fascinating! I’m loving it all!
You grew up at midland and Lawrence. That’s wild. We move to that area in 96. I went to Midland CI. We lived on romulous. My mom moved after we moved out. Miss that neighborhood so much.

Loving the vlogmas videos!!!
Since you showed us Scarborough, would you be comfortable talking about your dad and if he was in your life growing up?
Vlogmas has been great, very appreciative for sharing with us

So true about being a mom changes your world view. Fo sho!
Big up STC! Now I'm craving a patty from Allan's Pastry shop 😅thanks for taking us around town, you've come such a long way Maya. Great job on the edit Max!
OMG!!! Nothing compared to an Allan's patty. Are they still around??
They are!! And still so damn good lol @@hazell1593

Sometimes the way Maya looks at Max and talks to him, looks like she does not like him, is this just because she is opposed to PDA?
