My boyfriend and I, we are from Argentina, and last year we travelled to New Zealand with a working holiday visa. We ended up staying 6 more months than planned because of the pandemic and we felt so lucky to be there. The help from the government to foreigners was incredible and kiwi people always so generous. It was amazing, such an amazing country. So exciting! Best of luck

I moved to New Zealand 7 years ago (from Canada) and fell in love with the country (and a guy, but that's another story). My love is the north island rather than the south - I think because I lived close to the Rocky mountains in Canada and so that landscape isn't so new to me. But the semi-tropical north island with the green, lush and almost prehistoric vegetation really speaks to me. And my home looks over the ocean, with break-taking sunrises and sunsets every day. After seven years, a walk around my neighbourhood still fills me with wonder. Good luck on your journey! Enjoy the wonder!

She is brilliant. Intelligent and supported by experts who she listens to. Main thing is she cares about the welfare of all Kiwis. Her slogan in the lockdown days was ‘be kind’ and the vast majority of Kiwis were. They wore masks or stayed at home. They knew it was for their own good. Yes it was hard for many but they sought ways to alleviate the boredom. People put teddy bears in their windows or near their gates. This created a country wide ‘teddy hunt’ for children and families. Taking photos and logging citing son maps. Created a wealth of educational lesson themes for parents in home schooling situations. A welcome change from today’s theme. USA v all the countries of the world!
Fastidious? Do me a favour. Stick to your erratic, no plans, no serious thought President who lives in an alternative world, but don’t dare impose your stupidity on those who have worked hard together to beat the COVID. Don’t dare attempt to come here! YOU AND YOUR ILK ARE NOT WELCOME!

Here in NZ we have a singer/songwriter named Dave Dobbyn.
The lyrics to his beloved song “Welcome Home” are all you need to know.
Tonight I am feeling for you
Under the state of a strange land
You have sacrificed much to be here
There for the grace, as I offer my hand
    So welcome home
    I bid you welcome
    I bid you welcome
    Welcome home
From the bottom of my heart
    Out here on the edge
The empire is fading by the day
And the world is so weary in war
Maybe we'll find that new way
    So welcome home
See I made a space for you now
    Welcome home
From the bottom of our hearts
    Welcome home
From the bottom of our hearts
Keep it coming now, keep it coming now
You'll find most of us here

Hi Alex! We are a retired American couple who have been “stuck” here in New Zealand since February of this year. We really feel like we hit the jackpot by being here during the pandemic. We just popped over from seeing our friends in Tasmania for a quick three month look around and ended up staying! We began in Christchurch, went on the Trans-Alpine train trip to Greymouth where we spent the night and then came back. Loved that trip! Rented a car and drove up into the mountains and the incredible lake country. Stayed in Mt. Cook village and hiked up to a glacier! OMG the color and beauty of those lakes is just incredible! Spent a few days in Wanaka and hiked there, too. Then we spent a couple of weeks in Queenstown and really loved it. Also went to Arrowtown a few times and it is a sweet little spot as well. Drove up the lake to Glenorchy which is spectacular and just had a great time around Queenstown in general. Took a tour down to Milford Sound on a bus because he road had been washed out and they were only letting busses through. Got there on a clear day, so that was lucky! Just a stunning place, as I’m sure you know! By this time we flew up to Wellington and it was late March and they shut down the pool where my husband, Miguel, was swimming every other day. People were saying that the country was about to shut down because of Covid, so we decided we would stay on (brilliant idea, it turns out), and since we already had an Air B&B booked in Paihia, Bay of Islands, we got the last flight up to KeriKeri and spent the lockdown in Bay of Islands, both in Paihia and Russell. Loved it! We have since spent a month at a time in Auckland, Napier (your ancestral home!) which we LOVED, Tauranga, and now we are in Raglan. We rent a car mostly to drive from one monthly rental (cheaper because of long-term discounts) to the next and do fun stops along the route. We loved Rotorua and Hobbiton on this last jaunt. Oh, and really surprising was Hamilton, especially Hamilton Gardens- a MUST SEE, and the beautiful River Walk along the Waikato River! We also saw Hastings, Havelock North, Gisborne, Opotika, Whaketane, and a lot of smaller towns along the way. SUCH a beautiful country with sweet people. I know you’ve been here but I just wanted to let you know that I think you are making a brilliant move. If we were younger we’d be doing the same thing! We have to leave here in mid-February when our year is up (we kept renewing our visas). When we leave Raglan (great surfing, by the way!) we will be in Thames for a week exploring the Coromandel Peninsula, before we settle down in Whitianga for 5 weeks over Christmas. Then we will go to Taupo for a week en route to New Plymouth where we will be for another month. I know I’ve probably written way to much, but your video excited me for your new adventures. You know on NZ TV 1 channel last night (on the Hyundai Country Show) there was a woman who had left her corporate job and moved to the South Island somewhere south of Queenstown a ways and started a kind of agricultural training program for people who want to get back to the land and farm. I'm from Wellington, a 4 hour drive from Hawkes Bay where my partners parents live. Napier is such a beautiful, cute and sunny place. There are a few gangs there and throughout NZ, but nothing on the scary scale compared to America or anywhere else. We are generally very safe country and we value being fair, honest and working hard. Jacinda is a very caring prime minister. You have made a awesome choice. 😊

Freedom of Speech fell to much lower levels in Hong Kong recently thanks to the CCP. Jacinda Ardern was the only prime minister of the Five Eyes nations not to call the CCP out on the Security Laws. Under socialist, communist and fascist governments, freedom of speech falls. Jacinda is the one referring to others as "comrad".

"Windy Wellington".. that`s a cute little capital. I spent 5 weeks in NZ back in Feb/March 1990, as a 21yr old. Totally LOVED the country, need to get back there one day. Wellington to me looks like a mix between Bergen and Athens, somehow. Stayed at this quaint old hostel, where I bought this t-shirt (that I still keep as a souvenir!) with the motto "I decomposed at Beethoven House- Wellington, NZ".. LOL! Greetings from Oslo, Norway

WE ALL KNOW, OR SHOULD KNOW BY NOW, THE PCR TEST SHOULD NEVER BE USED TO DIAGNOSE ANYTHING & WILL GIVE FALSE POSITIVES....DO YOUR RESEARCH. NZ IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE 5 EYE COUNTRIES AND A TESG RUN NWO COUNTRY, WITH MELBOURNE. THE PM HAZ LITERALLY BROUGHT OUT THE WHOLE OF NZS MEDIA TO LIE TO THE PPL DAILY ABOUT THIS FAKE PANDEMIC (WHICH THE WHO & CDC HAVE SAID TO STOP LOCKDOWNS & THAT IT'S A 0.00034% FATALITY RATE, LESS THAN THE COMMON FLU). @NZgamer the socialist left was an implacable enemy of 'third wayism'. It argued that neoliberalism and social concerns could not be reconciled. While third way politics as a movement is largely defunct now, its influence remains under the guise of 'centrism'. And it is centrist politics that Jacinda Ardern remains faithful to now.

@@lorrielauer9231 WOW, that's the place where they filmed that 90 day fiance where those 2 ok American man and Mexican man visited and the American man gave a ring for his sweetheart baby Mexican man wow, I saw that place on TV. So anyway, looks like a nice place but for me I'm thinking of Guadalajara and around there. Been there many times so I feel at home there and from there very close everywhere like Puerta Vajarta etc so yes, everything looking good. Ok Lorrie, you enjoy Mexico viva la vida like our so beloved Frida said.

im from New Zeland and personally i feel like each part of the counrty is so differnt. Auckland our biggest city has almost 1/4 our population while the south island has 1/5, so i guess i would like to know are you guys looking to move to a larger populated area or smaller town? most people that move her go to the cities but i think its so cool you guys are looking for a farm or small block of land!

Not to put you guys off or anything, but I have lived in New Zealand my entire life born and raised (25 years now) and even though we seem to have the pandemic under control we are still hugely in debt. As a result many employers have had to lay off their employees and so many people are now unemployed, basically just like the rest of the world. I myself am planning on leaving New Zealand when I can afford to. It's not a bad country to live in as there is a lot to see and do here but I feel like people overseas have the wrong idea about this country

Honestly don't believe everything you read lots of false information out there 🤦‍♀️NZ is doing very well certainly compared to the US...you're very fortunate to be making the mivehere it's ot perfect and there are always adjustments and things you will miss but it's a special corner of the world especially at the moment and I'm sure it will feel like home in no time. 👍👍

I'm not trying to say New Zealand is a bad country or anything, but it isn't as great as some people think it is. So many businesses have gone under due to the first lockdown which lasted several weeks and so many more will if we keep having them. Given how small this country is, job opportunities are already fairly scarce and now are becoming far more scarce with all the businesses cutting down on staff. Our PM hasn't done much to help with the economy and keeps forcing the country into lockdowns we don't even need. I'm a qualified pastry chef and the food industry is always meant to be good for finding work, but atm i'm struggling due to there being so few jobs available. I'm just saying that if people wish to come to NZ then expect unemployment for a while unless you get lucky.

Re pronunciation for Taupō, wonderful effort!! Try this to get the “ pō” bit right.
Tow Por.... for your accent, go to say “porpoise” but only say the “po” snd stop before you hit the “r”. You even hold the “o” the same as you would if you were saying “ porpoise”.if you do that, you’ll nail it. I love that you’re saying it the Māori way. Arohanui (much love).

As a New Zealander, I recommend Christchurch to move. I am probably quite bias however I really do think it is the best place for your particular reasons.
    1. It is the 2 biggest city, yet it is very laid-back and unlike the two other cities, Wellington and Auckland which are very much the "business" cities.
    2. It is has a major international airport, which flights to most other places in NZ and many other international destinations.
    3. It is the cheapest city in NZ to buy a house. NZ house prices are very high however Christchurch has pretty decent house prices for NZ.
    4. Close to the Southern Alps, Queenstown, Nelson and has access to all the most beautiful parts of NZ.
    5. Pretty good climate. Hot Summers, Mild Autumn and Spring, Coldish Winters. It is also very dry and sunny, compared to Auckland and Wellington which get a reasonable amount of rain. Not to mention it is not humid and is always close to places with snow.
    6. Very Safe, especially in earthquakes Christchurch is the place to be, all our buildings were either knocked down if not built to code or rebuilt, meaning if there is an earthquake Christchurch is the place to be.
    7. Cool city, ever since the earthquakes Christchurch has been completely rebuilt and is becoming a very cool and vibrant place to live. Every month the city is changing.
    8. It is the 'Garden City' it is known for its amazing greenery and beautiful landscapes.
    9. Great Community, Christchurch has really come together and everyone is very nice to each other, unlike Auckland where everyone is snobs, haha.

Still home. It has hills, greenery, also its still being rebuilt so its seeing new progression as well from the earthquakes.
