Even with the Crazy price of lumber. Being under $ 10,000 is really good for the size of your Cabin. And you're right. There is no better feeling in the world when U don't have to pay the bank for the home U live in. Peace Bro !! 👍👍💪💪💪💪💪✌✌
Paying the bank has never been an issue with me. Paying taxes has never bothered me(well, a little). It's all part of it. When interest rates dropped I refinanced and it made me feel like a smart guy. Paid the house off 20 yrs. ago. My mistake(and it's my nature) was to get to comfortable with one house. I know I'm not going with the flow here, but none of the women I ever dated would have lived in a plywood cabin. I agree with all of Kyles reasoning. Be frugal, be sensible. Think about what it costs to have "that thing". I was raised country and I respect conservative living.
What a beautifully done book ruclips.net/user/postUgkxT9ExVpR-3A-9rpRqx8vzXKZ3BMMTg_KH ! The text and the photographs are brilliant. It is thorough and genuinely informative. Joseph Truini got another winner! No one does it better! Love the Cape Cod Shed with the Blue door!

Debt free means that the money goes to the more important things in life.Instead of keeping up with the joneses which in the end who gives a flying f@ck. Tell me who takes the time to look at the label on your shirt to see what brand it is.. it’s what important to the individuals concerned that matters....

“Live simple and save.” I can’t say it any better. That’s always been my motto. I’m 35 and have definitely done okay for myself. I’ll be selling my house (already paid for) for a six figure profit this year. I’m going to buy a truck and 5th wheel and travel around the country until the housing prices drop out and I find the next place I want to live. Might be a few years, but I’ll enjoy the adventure. Honestly, less than $10k is dirt cheap for what you have built. I also realize that you have put in countless hours of time and effort. You’re coming along great. You have a great mindset and work ethic. Keep it up. You have our full support. God bless you and yours!!

Love watching your journey and we keep you lifted in prayer as well. Thanks for sharing your choices and your life.
Americans need to get back to this concept. Proud of you two. Financial stress is the major contribution to divorce and y'all are well ahead of the curve. Good for you.
I would much rather have a smaller house on some nice acreage that is bought and paid for, than a really nice big house in a subdivision with a huge mortgage. Think of the freedom you have. Plus if you want to get away you still have your wilderness acreage and cabin. You are a very rich man.

Around here the city enforces building codes on any building. That structure you built they would consider illegal and red tag it. As they explained it to me, a cardboard box is fine, but the moment a person tried to live in it it is considered a "dwelling." and at that point it becomes illegal and subject to codes. The electrical alone they would make you hire a master electrician up to date with all the changing codes to guarantee them your building met all the new codes. The structure would also require an engineer's stamp to guarantee the city your structure was safe and sound. Moonshiners build structures out in the middle of nowhere to make their goods. The city finds them and tears them down because their structures are considered illegal under state codes. I admire what you've done. After all the codes and permits are pulled I believe this structure would be 2x the cost of what you mentioned. The only thing i would recommend is for you to build a storage unit about half the size to remove all the added weight from your cabin so its stays light. People cram all their stuff into their living spaces and that often screws up the foundation later. A large storage unit would help preserve your cabin. Best of luck.

Yeah and the shame is is down here in Illinois the prices are coming back down now you can get a 2x4 again for $3 and a 2x12 that was 60 bucks is now down to 24.99

For your generation You make way to much sense. I've been following you guys from your start and enjoy it a lot. As a Family we started going up to northern Minnesota since i was 4 (1959) Usually to Lake Andrusia or Winnebigoshish. i've always wanted to move up there and build a Cabin. I'm 66 now so i don't have the desire to build one for myself but if i could find 5 or 10 acres of suitable land in the woods i would have somebody build me one.

Thanks for your honesty and for sharing your journey with us! I can’t wait to see where you guys take us! Been with you from the beginning! Be blessed my friends!
I think what you’re doing is awesome. 👍 As for building codes, that depends on where you live. Here in Ontario Canada, you still have to follow the building codes permitted by the municipality / township you live in. You can only get away with no building codes when on land in an unorganized township. Some townships are lenient pending the zoning (IE: Rural) some places won’t even allow a person to park a trailer to live in while building. I’m building a dovetail square timber now on my 25 acres, 16x16 is the Max before having to follow codes. Nice cabin. Best wishes
(This is Tom, not Sandra.) You have great videos, each and everytime, Kyle. Thank you for sharing your journey with us all online!!!! Good luck in all of your future endeavors, sir. Take care.
You have your priorities straight, young man. It is a great thing to see that in the younger generation. Your attitude also helped you get to where you are....along with the location you picked to settle in😉
It’s all about true living, the debt free life and the accomplishment of self sustainable. Glad to see you have a great partner in life. I really enjoy the real videos.
Well said. My wife and I are in our 60s beginning a similar journey. You are wise to avoid unnecessary stresses. Life is only as complicated as we make it.
WOW! Way to go, Kyle. Smart young man. No Debt is 100% the way to go. Smart young man. I want to see a nice front porch there with a couple of rocking chairs. I don't remember where the land came from. Two thumbs up. Thanks for sharing.
You and Sierra have good, common sense. Saving, planning, and living frugally allows you freedom to enjoy your life. May God bless you with a very happy homestead.
Over the years I have been doing just that. At one point I had raw land and numerous plans in my brain. Then stacks of materials started to take up mega space in my carport. For 5 + years we scrounged and scavenged materials. From studs to plywood. We have made sacrifices to achieve what we wanted. We set a goal and through hard work and determination it's happening. There are people that are haters.....I believe it's just pure jealousy. Not that we are trying to make people jealous, but it comes from people wanting what you have. Set goals and make sacrifices is the only way to achieve you dream. Most people don't see the prep work and behind the scenes work it takes. They just see the final product and say, it must be nice. Yes it is after years of work and determination. Congrats to the both of you.
Nice cabin. My first home the interest rate was 10.9 in about 1988 now interest is dirt cheap. That is part of the reason lumber price is so high. People are building like crazy. Good luck and I wish you well.
@@jshepard152 Well people may hate the higher interest rates I believe it was the free money, interest rates in the 2’s that fueled the insane high housing prices. I own two homes and I could no longer afford to purchase either one if I was in the same place again. Also back when the interest rates were high I was getting 9 percent on my CD’s from my local bank. Something had to be done to slow inflation. I am not economist so I hope this works. As an older person I would love to see the CD’s come back up to 9 percent. Take care
Congratulations on this mile stone and good luck with all of your homestead endeavors. Dedication and hardwork will get you to where you want to be. Stay safe and God bless.
Thank you for sharing your video Kyle You both had great parents to give you the great work and drive in making your homestead You and Cierra are great hard working couple with a beautiful dream you both made happened Take care see you Cierra and Skeeter soon
2 years ago I priced out building myself a 24x16 build complete interior and exterior for $8,000-9,000...now it's over $20,000. On the flip side it's a good sellers market (rural community) which will actually make up the difference when I sell my place to build. I have enjoyed watching your videos and got some good tips from them..thanks for sharing!
CONGRATULATIONS ! To you and Sarah on all your planning, saving and completing shell build of your home. I will continue to watch you both build your Homestead. 🏡🐥🐤🐔🐣🌲
Yup I have to agree mortgage free is the way to go! I'm saving in baby steps to do just that. I think people get drawn into the loop of what they think they "need" instead of what they actually need. I mean take me for example. Working an average job working average hours. Bought a piece of land in 2017, got a well last year, getting foundation this year, and building next year. I find living within ones means makes many more life goals very possible. Great job on the cabin. Looking good!
I think what you have accomplished is outstanding!!! Also, I think a huge part of the "secret recipe" is finding a state where you can build a cabin without permits and inspections. Here in California you would have spent 3 or 4 times what you did....in permits alone! Before you put a shovel in the ground or bought a stick of lumber. For now I have a small mobile home that is paid off, but my hope is to move out of friggin California someday and I would love to do something like you did. Congrats!! You are beating the system.
That is a very good point. I’m lucky to live in a state/county where the rules are more relaxed. I used to think Alaska was the only place left that this could be done.
Hi guys that is wonderful the price that you have paid for your lifestyle that is wonderful many people would just love to live in the cabin like that you don’t have to have 10 rooms to make you happy I live in a three bedroom low-set brick and tin roof house with solar panels air conditioning but I’ve been here for 30 years and I just love it but I would love to live in the bush to have peace and quiet all around here I need the birds and animals for noise love the videos can’t wait to see you fitting out the inside of the cabin keep up the hard work Cliff from Queensland Australia
Appreciate you sharing Kyle. Your home is coming right along. It’s going to be a great summer for you and Cierra and Skeeter too. Your example of saving and working hard is a great example for everyone.
Congratulations ! You did the right thing, paying interest to the Banks for years is insane . Best of luck for the future for both of you. It is nice seeing young folks with good sense and stamina. Cheers !
Great job on your cabin. You and Sierra have a very good plan and will reap many rewards. As for the people who just have to criticize you for having the channel, they are just jealous. They just show how shallow they are. You have a lot to be proud of.Thanks for sharing.
Kyle I give you a big high five!👍 You have the drive and ambition to get it done! You don't rely on anyone to hand things out for you. You want something, you work hard for it. Cierra and you plan together well. Sometimes you have to live frugal to live well! I could live happy in a self built house like you're building, but my wife wants bigger and more. We can't get a loan for what she wants, but I could build something like you have. She doesn't want to "downsize" from what we had planned, but we may have to. I can compromise, but I don't know if she can. Thanks for the video! Keep on keeping on!
I'm so impressed with you Kyle! When I was your age I was a really hard worker too. Man, I want to homestead. I moved out of Commiefornia to NV and bought a home on one acre w a well. I'm looking to move further away towards the mountains here and do something similar! Great job young man! You are thinking right about your goals!!
Good stuff Kyle! I check everyday for your posts. Without you having to say so, I'm absolutely certain you don't underestimate the value of your father and your wife. I may be enjoying those subtle interactions in the videos as much as the construction progress. Looking forward to seeing your wife's interior design.
Thanks for your time spent in sharing these informed packed videos, as well as your common sense knowledge, in how everyone can achieve success , by sometimes denying ones desires to have and do everything. A really great job. May the Lord continue to bless you in your future endeavors.
It's great to see younger people willing to make sacrifices to make their dream come true. I see so many people complaining about how they can't have a home because prices are so high and yet they have new cars, go on expensive trips, buy new clothes, eating out all the time and basically live a lifestyle they can't afford and then complain. We raised our family in a house less than 1000 sq. ft and one income. We did without things and were fine with that so we could raise our kids and have a home.
There actually is a (secret) recipe.. As you stated - no new snowmobiles, quads, car payments. These toys will come as you progress. As important is the desire, the dedication, self-motivation and let's not forget putting your needs first over wants. The results are so satisfying! Keep you value system and you'll continue to do well. Well done young man!

You could add a cover deck so your guys can sit outside during the winter time ,maybe add more Glassdoors so your house will have the beautiful view though ,love your Chanel, never miss one 👍👌
Nice! I've been mortgage free on a house near Minneapolis since Oct 2019 and it has been great. No other debt outside of using a 401k loan to buy a chunk of land in the Arrowhead.
Great summary of the costs Kyle! Your story of your time in Alaska reminds me of Dick Proenneke’s story. If you haven’t watched any of his videos you really should. He was a lot like you. Thanks for the great videos!!!!
Yeah, Kyle, the long awaited dry build list. Your home will be so cozy, you'll be debt free. Where should your subscribers send the housewarming gifts?
We have a PO Box in Grand Rapids mn. We are quite a bit north of there but it’s the closest town that has bigger stores. It’s PO Box 982 Grand Rapids MN 55744
That's a fair price!! Especially with the cost of lumber!! And you built it yourselves, big saving there!! Can't wait to see more!! Stay safe my friend's.👍🤓👍🤓 Randy.

Thanks for the great information. You two should be so proud of everything you’ve accomplished. So smart, I love your lifestyle, frugality and honesty. Keep having fun.

You have great videos, each and everytime, Kyle.
I truly admire both of you. Never miss your videos. ❤️from Tennessee!!!
We're on our way back toward 10% now...
Thank you for sharing your video
Kyle
You both had great parents to give you the great work and drive in making your homestead
You and Cierra are great hard working couple with a beautiful dream you both made happened
Take care see you Cierra and Skeeter soon
Very informative. Perhaps you could touch on the land acquisition at some time. Cheers.
Cant wait to see the in side finished
Extremely wise decision. You all have a done an amazing job so far. How blessed you are to have such a great dad...he's awesome. God bless.
The cabin looks awesome!!! You, Cierra & your dad did a great job. Skeeter was a good Supervisor!!! 😊 Love the door! The windows look great too!
Kyle, what a very grounded young man you are. You've achieved so much!! You are a fine example to our next generations with your 'can do' attitude.
So glad for all.young and debt free.Hello Skeeter.💕
You and Cierra have your heads on straight. It's good to see ya's living Your dreams. 👍
Sensible guy !!!
My mum always taught me to be sensible with money.
Good stuff Kyle! I check everyday for your posts. Without you having to say so, I'm absolutely certain you don't underestimate the value of your father and your wife. I may be enjoying those subtle interactions in the videos as much as the construction progress. Looking forward to seeing your wife's interior design.
I'm impressed with your build and your initiative. I have some rural land and need to do the exact same thing.
Thanks for the info, Kyle. You came in cheaper than I thought you would. Nice size home, my friend, for under 10K! Congratulations brother.
You two are smart and learned early about finances. I think its admirable. I am excited to see what's to come.
You guys are inspirational. Great job! Best of luck to you both!

You could add a cover deck so your guys can sit outside during the winter time ,maybe add more Glassdoors so your house will have the beautiful view though ,love your Chanel, never miss one 👍👌
Thank you!
Nice! I've been mortgage free on a house near Minneapolis since Oct 2019 and it has been great. No other debt outside of using a 401k loan to buy a chunk of land in the Arrowhead.
The Arrowhead is the place to be!
Great looking cabin, no nosy neighbors, peace and tranquility also more Brats for Skeeter And. Ziggy 😄👍👍
Great summary of the costs Kyle! Your story of your time in Alaska reminds me of Dick Proenneke’s story. If you haven’t watched any of his videos you really should. He was a lot like you. Thanks for the great videos!!!!
One thing not mentioned is the land. Here in the Mid West land is not cheap. Love your cabin and I am impressed by your skill!
It’s
PO Box 982 Grand Rapids MN 55744
Cierra and I really appreciate it!
Cool stuff, Kyle. Don't let negative comments drag you down. That's much less expensive than I expected. It's going to be a really great home.
That's a fair price!! Especially with the cost of lumber!! And you built it yourselves, big saving there!! Can't wait to see more!! Stay safe my friend's.👍🤓👍🤓 Randy.

Great job Kyle and Cierra (and Dad!). Very inspiring. Don’t slow down!!!!!!!

Wow! That’s awesome. Your beautiful home will be standing for many years to come. Great job!

Proud of you two!! You guys definitely have your heads screwed on right. I wish more young people had their priorities like you. Congratulations on a bright and prosperous future!
Here in Atlanta, I paid $17.56 for a PT 2x4x8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!! You did Very well!!
