Freddie does have a wider range but songs like dont stop believin and living on a prayer are way harder to sing

You'd be surprised as to what is possible for the human voice when you practice enough. Sure there are genetic hurdles we all face but with some focus and a little leverage I'm sure even you could forge your own into something special (as long as you don't try to imitate or liken your voice to someone else) make yourself the greatest "you" we already had the greatest Freddie Mercury. Actually the notes weren't easy for Freddie to hit live, since he was actually a baritone, just singing in tenor range and when you listen to any live performance of this song (including live aid), you'll see he never even really tried to sing the highest note in the chorus, it was always the drummer Roger Taylor (a natural tenor) backing him. It doesn't mean it was out of his range (he did sing it in the studio), I think he just didn't want to risk it live. By the way, it was 4 octaves, not 5 ;) But it's not only range that matteres. Roger Taylor, who I mentioned earlier, at his prime had an even wider scale, and though he was good, no one ever concidered him better than Freddie. Freddie's voice was unique thanks to many other factors, like it's power or his amazing vibrato.

I absolutely LOVE Green Day. I wish they could live and perform forever lol. I was lucky enough to see them in San Diego on the Revolution Radio tour. It was the best 2 hrs of my life. They were going to come back a couple of months later and I wanted to go again and my wife said NO. Let me just say she is no longer my wife.
