- Hey! I am sorry for the atrocious microphone quality. Anyways, if your windows surface RT is flashing the surface logo and then turning off, this is the fix for you!!

Thank you so much for posting this video. After watching many videos and attempting many times, only this video helped. It was clear and not too fast. If you have a Surface RT or Surface 2 with a looping problem and windows won't open, or if you have a 0xc0000098 or 0xc000000f error, this is the video to watch. I am so thankful!!!! My Surface functions great once more. I also spent many hours trying to fix this important video.
This is the only place I found the same problem as mine. It came by messing around with CMD partitioning in boot-up. Thanks mate, you solved my problem.

Thanks for this info. Hi. I'm new to using a MS Surface. My uncle was about to trash his because he no longer uses it. When I turn it on, it shows the Surface logo along with "Preparing Automatic Repair", then goes right to the blue screen error: "Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors....". According to online troubleshooting instructions, I downloaded and created a recovery USB boot drive. But, when I try to use the Volume Down +Power Button sequence, it does not want to boot from the USB drive. Whatever I try, I can't get it to recognize the USB thumb drive. Could this be more of a hardware issue? Is there anything else I could try? Sorry, I don't know what model of Surface I have. Thanks.

Hello, I try to do as your guidance but it would not work. Because my surface 2 just wake up appear only the logo but it is not boost to usb I try it many time but it still no boot to usb.
about how long does it take for the system to boot? You did say it takes a while but i swear i've been at the surface logo screen for 2 hours now and i don't think you meant THAT long? right? but it doesnt show any error either so idk what to do

Hi! Im From Mexico, i need some help with that.
After de Troubleshoot Step "Reset Your PC" shows a mesagge: "SecureBoot inst configured correctly Build 9600" and "There was a problem resetting your PC". I can´t continue the other steps.
did the whole thing then after repartition the drives i got Unable to reset your pc. The system drive cannot be found. Can you help?
Does this work will surface 3 as well? And instead full clean, can I just choose the other option to retain my data inside?
I have not tested it on a Surface 3. And yes, you should be able to do that.

Hello, I followed all your steps and once i plug in the usb and hold the down volume and power button (then let go)the surface logo pops up and the little working circles go for about 5 seconds then they freeze. After, it restarts and i get a message window that surface ran into some problems. It then goes into preparing automatic repair (all while the usb with the windows content still plugged in) but seems frozen.
Huh. So, I don't know how to bypass that automatic repair. But, It seems like you are on the right track either way. If you can, try to wait and see what happens when it runs through and try to boot into advanced options, and do the full reset as shown in the video.

What happens if you selected the two dots on the file 4:30?
My Surface is stuck on a 'start up' screen.
I have the following choices:
- Trusted Platform Module
- Secure Boot Control
- Install default secure boot keys
- delete all secure boot keys
- exit setup
I choose 'exit setup' but just comes back to this screen.
I have tried - Hold down on button for 10 Sec with Volume up bottom etc.
And also 30 second power button hold on and then 15 sec with volume button and all the ways. But only get above window only. Power button+volume down holding but no luck
However does no windows logo or windows blue screen appear at all.. only black screen flashing with surface named. I think windows automatic repair stopped or crash?

My surface doesn't respond when I press the power button. It only tries to come on by itself randomly, showing the Surface logo, then turning back off. So it's hard to determine when I should hold down the VOL DOWN button.

Oh nvm! I just checked the pin of the charger and a wire (blue) in it was broken. I soldered it back on place and tried charging and now my surface pro 2 is working fine.

Hey, I've tried 2 different downloads, 2 different USB's etc and it still doesn't work. I've followed the exact instructions of like 8 different websites. It just goes to the surface logo, stays there for about a minute and then reboots. Any I've tried volume up, down, holding it, releasing it on the surface logo. Any ideas?

It won't even boot to usb, usb will not even start flashing like yours. Any suggestions? Thank you
Some USBs don’t have an indicator light. If yours does and is not flashing, then one of 3 things: either your surface’s USB port is dead, your surface needs to be hooked to a plug (least likely), or your USB is bad. There’s no special formatting you really have to do, I don’t think. Hope this helps, and sorry about my bad replies! RUclips is awful with notifying me!!

Hi! Sorry I took so long to get to this. I would try to delete the partitions from the recovery command line, which wipes all data and allows the OS to be reinstalled and drive to be re-partitioned. Hope this helps!!

Even with recovery image in the usb drive, volume down + power button behaves in the same manner.. it shows windows logo and gets switched off.. can you give any suggestion??
That's so weird. Is it a Surface RT? Cause some surfaces behave differently.

same problem here with my surface 5, nothing happens after plugging in the usb drive, only the windows logo appears for a few second after pressing volume & power button before it shuts down again :( have you perhaps found a solution?
No solution yet.. even surface on call support team was also unable to find a solution.. they asked me to get it replaced by paying the extra amount..

Sadly, yes. The only way to fix this (that I know how) is to follow my steps - which will involve wiping the information off of the machine.
Literally bought my computer less than a month ago and it did this… any idea why it happens? Super annoying for a $1700 computer!

hi help me please i have surface pro i5 7th
I'm on my 3rd usb and still no luck. I've tried every solution I could find. What's different this time is this usb has an indicator light. It's not lighting, but if I put a phone charger with a light on it and hit the power button it lights right up. Mine hangs longer on the surface screen but no dots ever. I'm starting to think it's a lost cause or I'm screwing something up repeatedly.

@@aldenviriyatanudjaja5234 been there done that. I'm thinking my port is screwed up. It has power because I can plug a charger with an LED on it and hit the power button and it lights right up. When I use a USB with an indicator it never lights up.
@@kylesonney131 yesss maybe that happened, if that happened, maybe you will need to fix the USB Port first. There are many replacement parts on ebay i think

@@raymundroscoeramos6088 try to hold power for 30second,then relase,and touch power button,it will be turn on. If can't turn on,may be u have problem on the power (like batery konektor or dc adapter). But cant fix the stuck logo,just for turn on with usb

About 2-3 hours, but that depends on the machine.

Hi there! Sorry I took so long to get back to this!!! Try to open the admin command line from the recovery drive, and delete all partitions. You have to do them one-by-one I’m afraid. That should turn the drive into a blank slate, which should allow you to reformat the drives. Apologies for taking so long, please let me know if that works!

@@LaneThePlane i just removed all partitions from disk 0 , and now it wont even enter recovery mode, i think that once you delete all partitions, you also take the recover one and it wont be able to boot anymore, its now a nice and expensive brick :P . Do you have any idea of how to move from here?

help i'm having trouble with mine because its language is in chinese i can't understant what it says :(
Surface RT Win8.1 64GB - Tablet was working perfectly then woke up one day to it being off.
Plugged in to Microsoft charger and the little white light is on at the top of the connector on the tablet.
Upon pressing the power button the SURFACE logo comes on for exactly 5 seconds then screen goes black and the tablet is powered off.
I have already tried the POWER + VOLUME UP / VOLUME DOWN methods without success...tablet still powers on for 5 seconds then shuts off.
u solve it? i can run the safe mode menu with this metod, but i get a error when i try to repair the full clean drive

@@gregorythomas333 i solves It with the Microsoft official recovery image, showed on this video, obviusly i put in my serial number, i was the exactly same error, the RT doesnt boot and shut down after few seconds

I have the image downloaded and on a drive but the Surface does not stay on long enough to even get to the point where I can boot it into the image drive.
@@gregorythomas333 i need to keep It connected and tried a few times until i can boot into recovery mode. Mine was only booting to surface logo and after 4 secs the screen goes off, at the 5th try It loaded after 5 or 10 minutes to the recovery

Tried this method but not working for me, it just keeps on showing surface logo and after couple of minutes screen will turn off and show the surface logo again in loop.

Press power button, hold volume down. Once surface logo shows up, let go of volume down. Give it a bit and it should boot to the flash drive.

great info thanks so much. it worked to get me out the bootloop but now it will not allow me to select a language. Tried it a few time and it moved forward in french a couple times but it moved through the screens quickly and I couldn't understand it? any other suggestions?

@@LaneThePlane Same issue - It says "Recovery" or "Windows 10" I chose windows 10.
@@maryannmckinnon7936 You want to go into recovery because when you press Windows 10, it tries to boot into Windows 10. If i remember correctly.

Light or no light, doesn't matter. Still if it's a USB, it'll work.

Thank you for reaching out to me! I am sorry that I didn't reply sooner, youtube's notifications are awful.
When you say shutting off, do you mean just going to a black screen, or getting a bluescreen crash? It could be that roblox is too laggy for the tablet, and that could be causing a crash.
My suggestion is that if you can, when you open a game in roblox, open the options menu. You should see a tab that says "Video settings" or "Graphics settings". Try lowering those, and hopefully, it should work!
