I just asked Du on stream a week ago if he would be open to going on this podcast, I wonder if they had already had plans to do it by the time I asked lol
Yes bro. He’s been grinding. I try to donate 24-50 bucks when I see him streaming. Just to help motivate him to keep streaming. Shout out to the good fathers out there !
Yo, B, a suggestion... For those who aren't in the know, and being as one of your stated intentions for this new series is for posterity and historical record, perhaps start the vids with a graphic that displays whomever's career achievements. You know, like, their big wins, etc..
Please don't shy away from longer episodes, this is what podcasts are for, at least for me, haha. Keep up the good work, I'm always looking forward for the next ep
I've always enjoyed watching NuckleDu during tournaments, but after this interview, he's become one of my favorite players. It's inspiring to see someone openly discuss their personal life, hoping to help others learn from their mistakes. Many players seem reluctant or afraid to show who they truly are, often putting on a facade for the streams and cameras. NuckleDu's honesty is refreshing and much appreciated.
Podcast definitely hits you right in the feels a few times. I've known about Du since the SF4 days, but never knew of his struggles growing up. Absolute legend. Thanks Brian F for bringing all these stories to light with the podcast!
The best thing about this podcast is how many of the topics they discussed casually (political implications for EWC, economic incentives for gaming, climate change, america in general) without a huge political slant but from experience. People dog on how everything is political but damn it thats life nowadays. We can not afford to be complacent anymore and wish for a better time without participation and awareness.
50:30 my man went through thr hard ships and stuck it through with a pad. I started on stick and after seeing his guile it made me believe that a pad warrior is just as good if not better These podcasts are amazing and really focuses on the human aspect of all these pros and their struggles
Brian these interviews are fantastic. As a long time FGC fan, it’s great to interact with the players in this way. As a point of feedback, I think it would be nice to have a bit more of an intro/outro- you’ll see this a lot in celebrity interviews. Even just a 2 minute accolade contextualization at the beginning would be cool, and then wrapping up at the end with some info about where we can watch the player, upcoming events they might be competing in, etc. You see this in just about every successful podcast/interview platform, and I think would go a long way to polish these sorts of interviews. Amazing job as always, keep it up man!
Du is a solid dude. From his open lobby’s with the viewers to the Dujo. Du and that community is the reason I started to do Tourneys 🙏🏾 Solid podcast choice Brian!
These interviews have been amazing, they've been changing my perspective on the players you've chosen so far. I wasn't much of a fan of idom, but my opinion of him improved a lot. Du has always been someone I root for, but after this he's becoming one of my Street Fighter favorites
You mentioned feedback about podcasts being too long, I much prefer it being so long! You're doing a fantastic job, and it's a treat to hear so much from your guests pov, your questions are great and the work you're doing on the lead up and the execution is recognised. Keep up the great work
These have been some of the best content for my FGC learning! Thank you Brian for giving the fun laid back conversations alongside your super cool guests. Big love ever since you taught me to play SF6 my first fightin game!
Du looks good, and i really hope that his mental health is great as well. His past tweets (after the accident) still got me concerned every time I see him. Wishing Du and his loved ones all the best! Awesome interview, thanks!
Du always been the homie and always treated me as a friend even when I was a trolling stream monster lol. I was super stoked to meet him when he won Capcom Cup. Much love and respect. ❤
another great one, thanks brian for keeping theese stories alive! absolutely love nuckledu, i don't usually watch anything on twitch but his stream has a very cool vibes, there's always some legendary players in the chat, he must be an amazing guy in person bc lots of our favorite players showing some love there, very happy he came back at the end of sf5 and is doing well
Really really really in-depth and thoughtful interview. I did not expect all of the information pulled from old forums/archived websites and all the historical tournament knowledge. This is crazy Good job.
First time I see KnuckleDu in a more casual environment outside of tournaments and hes so chil my favorite part of this podcast has definitely been being able to see the guests' personality shine
So I have a family member that works for the IRS and a common misconception is that they know how much you owe, they don’t. They get forms sent from places that show you had an income but they don’t know your expenses. So as a streamer yes they know how much Twitch gave you but they don’t know how much you spent on games, office supplies, or in DU’s case how much he spent on hotels and airfare to compete as a pro player
I like how you give as much as you get, for all the advice you ask, you give a good one to not only the dude on the other side of the camera, but to your entire audience. It's a 3 way give give give take take take relationship (as long as we all go follow/sub to Du!)
This podcast got me learning alot about the players I joined street fighter 5 late with smug idom punk and you during the covid era. This content is great and I am glad Du's in the good part of life as someone who had family issues and grew up poor this is amazing to hear that none of that held him back!
Before this podcast Caba was my favorite Guile for his performance at last years SFL, but this changed my mind. This man is really on his responsible grind AND open enough to share the history of his experience with some Joe-shmoe randos like me. Respect to Du for sharing and respect to Brian for using his platform to release back to back bangers.
Huge ups to NuckleDu for being so open and putting himself out there on those kinda problems, it's a sore point for plenty of people. Man's a family man through and through too, what an inspiring story he's had! Absolute inspiration for putting the work in and getting results Also we love to see the Shine love, BIG UPS SHINE
Nuckledu is the goat bro. I got to play against him in a neon dreams bi weekly bracket, and it was just vibes man. I ended up getting to talk to him after the matches for a while and he was a super down to earth dude. Such a great experience.
Financial literacy is a joke in the American school system. It's like they want you to fail to make money off of you. One thing I always thought for streamers an top level players is "i wonder if they do tax write offs". Very eye opening
Yo Brian I didn’t know you went to UF! I just graduated this past Spring. Hope to meet yah at a tournament some day you’re definitely a big inspiration to me!
I think putting the "Trash Talk..." at the beginning of the title is better, I almost scrolled past it thinking it was something the RUclips algorithm was suggesting.
Prize is always better to be top heavy… also getting sponsors is how Japan gets supported. Getting people who is willing to do a show for fighting game is how they start.
the friendship and rivalry section rly changed the way i view the fgc, especially punk. something i always fear when thinking about getting into the scene properly is any tense feelings towards one another in a competitive setting, but we're all human. we gotta be kind
Regarding interviewing Japanese players, a RUclipsr named Quackity is releasing a live-translation tool that seems like it would eliminate some of that awkward silence waiting for a translator. Granted, I have no idea how well it would work when talking about game-specific terminology, but it might be worth looking into! Today’s was a great episode! Nuckledu’s story is super interesting and it’s heartwarming to see his success nowadays. Can’t wait for the next one!
Tell Du to move to the Great Lakes area. Pretty blessed in terms of not having to deal with natural disasters, and the winters are getting milder and milder every year.
This was so much better than the one with iDom. And Du dropped out of school, didn't get along with his bro and been on his own since 17? That's identical to what I went through, except I'm heaps older. Makes things fucking hard man, messes up your life. Already liked Du but now got even more respect.
He's right about the players that got to train on the cracked version. The greatest time in any fighting game is the first couple of months after a game launches when everyone is discovering together. We got robbed of that for SF6.
This is the one I've been waiting for
living up to the username lolol
I just asked Du on stream a week ago if he would be open to going on this podcast, I wonder if they had already had plans to do it by the time I asked lol
@@fogfish303 He's just on another level
GO WATCH THIS MANS CONTENT ITS AMAZING
My man choking back tears when talking about his parents and siblings. A real one.
This podcast has blown my expectations out of the water, i hope you can keep the momentum! I'm constantly looking forward to these episodes.
real
This pod is absolute concrete proof of how good of an addition your channel is to the fgc.
Nuckledu's story is so wild and inspiring thank you for platforming this. Why isn't this more well known WTH.
Yes bro. He’s been grinding. I try to donate 24-50 bucks when I see him streaming. Just to help motivate him to keep streaming. Shout out to the good fathers out there !
You know I think this is first time I've seen du's face. It's always a chair when I check in on the stream
I feel you on this😭😭😂 i always go "yes du is streaming?" "Huh chair?" When i tune in but man has a family so of course I'm okay with how busy he is
Yo, B, a suggestion...
For those who aren't in the know, and being as one of your stated intentions for this new series is for posterity and historical record, perhaps start the vids with a graphic that displays whomever's career achievements. You know, like, their big wins, etc..

Du is amazing guy, you can tell just by the way he described Punk vs himself, true pro player recognizes another true pro.

Easily the best episode so far, I’m a huge Du fan now. These are super sick, very glad you’re makin them.

Hearing Du say he wishes he could give his younger self a hug made a little choked up ngl
Brian you keep adding so much value to the FGC. This is incredible work

Bro that nuckledu quote on eventhubs actually made me tear up a bit.
Congrats on clutching it, Du! We're all cheering for you, brother!
I had no idea about a lot of his personal stuff and ive been watching since he started playing! Very cool stuff this is great to have
These have been some of the best content for my FGC learning! Thank you Brian for giving the fun laid back conversations alongside your super cool guests. Big love ever since you taught me to play SF6 my first fightin game!
Nuckledu interview lets goooooooooo
Always looking forward to seeing him play ever since he hit daigo with 3 guile back hp in a row
He epic triple fierced Fuudo too

Loving all these episodes brian. Usually podcasts are kind of background noise for me but I really can't help but focus on all these conversations.

Please keep these stories going. SF6 is my first SF and my intro to fighting games. These storylines are important
Coming from a connoisseur of podcasts in general, I think this might be one of my favourites I've had the pleasure of listening to :)
So glad this podcast exists. I already had a ton of respect for Du for being a pro player and family man, but hearing his life is an inspiration

The system only really functions if it can exploit people so it quite literally does set itself up to be as successful at being predatory as possible.
Yes, actually, the debt system is what generates money in the US. They want you dumb and in debt.
This is the first one I listened to in one sitting from beginning to end, even though I liked all the guests prior as well. This was some real shit.
Such a great perspective on NuckleDu, love this episode!
Come to the PNW. We literally only have rain as the worst natural disaster lol.
Also this POD is pretty cool. Keep it up Brian.
35:50, honestly, even people from Milwaukee were surprised that C3 was a qualifier. I'm one of them
finally caught up to the podcast, loving the content! keep it up!
the episodes are not too long! please keep this format

Yo Brian I didn’t know you went to UF! I just graduated this past Spring. Hope to meet yah at a tournament some day you’re definitely a big inspiration to me!
Thanks for this one Brine. I always wondered how Du was traveling to these events 😂 but had no clue what he was going through 😢
This was my favorite episode so far
Good episode, very nice to see this side of du. Thank you brian, hope you see this positive comment!
I think putting the "Trash Talk..." at the beginning of the title is better, I almost scrolled past it thinking it was something the RUclips algorithm was suggesting.
This is cool! I respect Du! I hope he cements his Legacy!
Awesome podcast, continue with the great work Brian!
They don’t want citizens to know the tax system ;)

Use to hate Du when he appeared on SF4. I identify a lot with what he saying.
Thank you both.

Damn, Brian is good at this. Long time fan of Du, wish him all the best. He seems like a man with integrity. had no idea about his backstory.

A shine, punk, or smug episode would feed families
Hearing this was amazing
This podcast is too good.
im ngl i was watching some of the sfl matches and they actually looked like slow motion in some of the matches
I did not know about the IRS stuff about NuckleDu
