I want to see the reverse of this episode. Ben and the food team get a list of ingredients from the 3 Normals and have 30 minutes to have a plan and design the 3 meals for 2. Then the Normals show their plans for the food.
Why do I always want to reach into the screen and hug Mike in these challenges? He always gets the short end of the stick during the challenge and takes the judgement at the end the most to heart 😢
A fun, and torturous, twist on this would be to give them the grocery bag and have them each create a dish one at a time. For example, Mike would get the full bag and make a dish, then Barry would go second and only have what Mike didn't use in order to make his dish...and then poor Jamie would have to make a dish with the remnants left by the other two. None of them would know what the others made until the final reveal and judgement. :D
I think the bigger difference here, is that Ben and the food team were able to buy the ingredients and then make a plan based on that, whereas the boys opened the bag, and had to on the spot come up with 3 entire dishes with a significant amount of cross-over ingredients. Would definitely be interesting to see the food team and Ben be put on the spot and have 3 of them share the kitchen and work in the same conditions as the boys with no time to plan
Agreed! The food team also had more time. The normals basically had no time to plan anything at all, they should have at least had time to discuss what they wanted to do. Hilarious that ben commented on the chaos when they set it up so they'll end up in chaos 😅
I agree. There are two ways to make this fair. Either Ebbers only gets 30 minutes to compensate for having a plan already or the guys buy the ingredients for round two. That second option sounds great to me. Let each of the three come up with a recipe they can cook within 30 minutes with a bunch of shared ingredients. Then see how well Ebbers, James and Holly manage to reproduce them without any foreknowledge or discussion time.
Mike would be the perfect guest at any dinner. He loves food and simply lights up when something turns out great. No matter how homey or grand a meal is. As for these recipes, I am no fan of parsnips or sprouts, but I am definitely going to try these recipes! Thank you guys!
If you aren't fond of a thing you aren't fond, and that's fair. But what I often do with sprouts is stirfry them with chopped onions and diced bacon, then add some spices like maybe just salt and pepper, maybe chili, maybe curry powder. Might add in some mushrooms, or replace bacon with them if you are veg(a/terian). Ofcourse adding in cheese will always do a nice trick (if you like cheese).
Seeing these challenges I notice Mike tries to be the one who is like okay guys let's hold hands and make good strides towards the same goal. Barry skips in one direction trying to be fancy and Jamie dashes in the other direction because he likes to charge head on with his goal.
He had such a look on him too, like "ooooh I'm gonna be stepping in it I wonder what ebbers will say he's gonna hate it", while in the middle of doing it Amazing
I feel like Mike was trying to harvest to think of everything in this challenge but was getting ignored. Now he knows what it feels like to be a mom. Bless his heart!

According to my UK friends, most veggies in the UK are packaged like that. which seems absurd.
Loooove the veg action 😍😍
I think I've done variations of those last 3 dishes every other weekend for the last 6 months when I haven't had time to go shopping yet.
Look in the veg box and fridge; make a random pasta/rice/couscous dish; make a random soup; slap something on naan breads (don't usually buy pastry). Though mine usually features some sort of meat because I'm terrible.
Made the parsnip soup for friends. Subbed out allspice with ground nutmeg, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Added toasted walnuts. It was amazing and very moreish. 🎉 thank you! A winner!
