So I disagree with you about the robot voice. As a blind user knowing the battery level, etc., is super helpful. A lot of times even if they have an app, they don’t make this stuff accessible to us!
Damn, that Brane X sounds so much better than the others. The difference is very noticeable. Just compare it to the original recording! The price difference is also very noticeable as well :-). Good explanation of why it can produce more bass btw - because of the driver design, it requires less power to provide the same quantity of bass at low frequencies as a regular speaker. Peak output however will still be dependent on how much air the bass driver can move.
Thanks Danny for another informative video. I’d heard about this speaker while listening to kutx from Austin, Texas, but when I saw the price, I didn’t give it a second thought. Watching and hearing your review was just great.
I ordered one with the code, many thanks. Found out about this while skimming speakers for weeks. It'll be interesting to measure performance against others.
You should have just spent a little more for an Aiwa exos 9. They don't produce them anymore but you can still find them at various retailers and eBay new for about 500. Blows this thing out of the water but it is twice as big. Bought mine back in 2018 and I have yet to find a better Bluetooth speaker.
@@zakidem I agree that the Exos is a great speaker based on many testimonies, but I have not heard it myself. However, the Brane X is carried easily with the little handle, and tucks away nicely on my desk at work. Size was a big factor for me personally. I also don't believe the Exos 9 can go as low into the Hz.
@@DannyPops Oh ok. I watched the video you made about the 200, and I wrongly assumed that you got to keep all the toys they sent your way. Thanks for responding.
I have one and agree 100% with your views, especially the buttons (or lack there of). Great work! I'll be watching Brain in the future, just some fine tuning on this design and it'd be darn near perfect.
The buttons are not buttons. If you let go of that, you have no complaint to make. They are capacitive, like the interface of every phone made in the last 15 years. Sheesh.
@@kevinboles3885 Yeah but you're looking right at a lit up screen, makes it much easier to locate, especially in low light. Call them buttons or whatever you want, it's a spot to press to operate the speaker. The power button or whatever you want to call it on the rear is my biggest gripe, you don't push buttons on the back of your phone while you are using it. The reviewer said said the same thing as me so I trust you'll share your thoughts with him as well. Great speaker though, never said it wasn't, just could be better. Nice trolling btw!
To me, the podcast sounded terribly muffled on the Brane. I prefer my Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5 over the Brane, and I own both. What sets them apart is the treble: I hate the treble coming out of the Brane. And for some reason my Brane X does not seem to make much sound below 50 hz, and has too much mid bass. Maybe there’s something wrong with mine??
Actually I think my ears are warming up to it. It’s a different sound for sure and works for different genres, but it isn’t bad by any stretch and has a warmth to it. Not a flat sounding “audiophile” speaker by any stretch, more designed to sound good to the average listener, as most of these “lifestyle” products tend to be.
That clip at the beginning, does the whole thing really move like that? If it does, that is surface exciter territory. They can be awesome, but are completely dependent on the type of material they're sitting/attached to. I have sever different versions and styles of them and even use a couple attached to foam insulation panels as my front channels. 2' X 2' on each side makes for an ultra wide soundstage.
Ik I’m late, but no. It moving like that is just a side effect of how much the subwoofer moves at low frequencies. Its feet on the bottom work well at avoiding transferring the vibrations onto the surface.
Can you use this for listening to music through RUclips? I don’t mean RUclips Music. Just listening to music videos directly on RUclips through a Bluetooth connection.
Could use as to what applications it's designed for and works with. IE: I want to use my WIFI home PC so I can do movies and music with 2 or more units. Not my phone. I get so frustrated not hearing as to what platforms are comparable for most of these type speakers.
Hi Man, Bose Flex 2nd just launch few days ago🎉. Kindly need your support to review it and compare it with the 1st Gen. Especially for the sound quality❤ Thank You Best Regards
Why did you test at 17hz at the beginning. Even if the brane could do 17hz it would only do it at a lower volume level. All you were doing was stressing the woofer. You should of tested it from 20-30hz. That is where the brane X shines vs other speakers. At least the 40hz test showed the brane x superiority a little.
@DannyPops I just got mine. Bass is decent down to 30hz then it rolls off quick. But the bass it does have it crazy impressive. It's got about 80% the bass my phantom II has. No other speaker i have ever tested has given the phantom II a run for its money like that. At volumes under 50% the brane X wins with better low volume bass adjustment but after 50% the phantom II keeps increasing its bass faster than the branex so 80% the phantom II is much louder with more impactful bass. Phantom II also goes about 5 hz deeper rolling off below 25hz. For almost $1000 less than the phantom and the fact it has a battery makes the brane x a way way better speaker
I'd argue that while the brane does roll off around the 30 mark, it still tries hard enough below that point to where those out of range frequencies still get decent representation, even if it may be more of a rapid thud noise than clean sine.
@AudioFroggy i was hoping for some clean bass down to about 26hz or so but oh well. I guess it's decent giving the $499 price tag. My phantom II can do clean bass down to 25hz but its also over double the price and no battery.
Many people say it is expensive, really if it were just a box that plays only sound but it is a smart speaker with Google and Alexa, another issue is its proposal for defined and compact sub-bass. Now come and tell me, does the Phantom have Alexa? Is it cheaper? But obviously if the Brane were a little cheaper it would be encouraging.
@zakidem I agree in part, precisely because it falls into the category of smart speakers and not "normal" speakers, and looking at the prices of smart speakers like Apple's, it has an equivalent price.
For the jbl xtreme 4 was low frequency mode on or off? I'm debating going for it because a friend of mine is selling a lightly used one for $220 and might go for it. Thanks in advance!
