Velodyne came up with their servo subs a long time ago that use an accelerometer. That works great, but it would not know where the cone is located at all times. A light sensor on the other hand can measure the distance which could accurately move the cone back to where it should be located. The Velodyne subs are know to be in a small sealed enclosure, so it makes sense the Brane X can be in such a small enclosure. Look up "Speaker position sensing with a linear optical encoder" from 2009. I would like to get a hold of this unit as I have been interested in servo subs for a long time.
Bad ass design on the sub!!! I would love to have someone to learn from like u!!! I would love to get my hands on 24" or 32" rad!!!! Imagine that!!!!!Also with the efficiency your talking about!!
The only thing I didn't like about this speaker was the limitation to the application when used with Bluetooth, only when connected to Wi-Fi do you have access to the app and all the device's settings, other than that I found it to be an excellent speaker, as for the value... innovative technology and not forgetting that it is a smart speaker that fits in the line of a HomePod for example, I found the value to be compatible, yes bass and sub-bass with home theater quality in a compact size.❤
I’m a big fan of this sonic marvel. Bought one without hearing it first during Amazon Black Friday. When I say your jaw is going to drop once you start listening to your music is an understatement. The excitement I felt with Brane X brings back good and lasting memories when I started listening to music seriously with audiophile equipments 25 years ago. To name a few: totem, psb, svs, etc…They sounded great but not portable. The Brane X produces deep and rumbling bass with a wide, open sound. Not to bash, the other portables can’t come close to I’m a big fan of this sonic marvel. I bought one without hearing it first during Amazon Black Friday. @ right which is absolutely impressive yes, but 45hz is still verrrry much subwoofer frequency so it’s just a misleading statement to promote it as the only speaker capable of playing true bass notes. Maybe it’s the only portable speaker capable of playing THAT low. Which should have been the information given.
@LikelyLagging well... yes.... I'm aware of that. But, unlike many, some of us enjoy edm which can dip below 45 hz. I like to hear all the notes of a bass line and not have it cut out. Many people would agree with that statement too. My bose soundlink can do 45 hz, but it just isn't full and rich like the Brane x, which a dedicated sub would do as well. It seems "sub bass" has many different ranges depending where you read, with some articles saying anything below 80 and others saying below 40.
Full stereo but the tweeters are 1/4 inch apart?? Also no TWS so you can only use 2 of them in a stereo pair when you have wifi, which means it's not portable as a pair or more.
So a biased BL curve along with DSP, and a more andvanced version of some white paper designs by Bob Carver. Good basic engineering. Holiday sale purchase possibly to try out.
Killer motor design! Its too bad they couldnt think up something original to name it and put X in the name, it sounds like a supplement you buy at the gas station.
@@JilesMcCoy Sorry, I bowed out half way through the 2nd time he was explaining all its wonderful connectivity features. Besides, the name still sounds like a supplement one would buy at the bodega.
Good to see the CEO knows his stuff! I've been rocking one of these for a few months and the thrill of the bass never gets old.
Thats awesome!
I'm poor will you buy me one
Very cool technology. I could see this as a game changer for subwoofer design. Smaller box home and car audio with less wattage needed. Cool 😎
I wonder what they could do in an 18" size driver.
@@JilesMcCoy That's exactly what I'm saying. Imagine a very small box 18" that can dig into the teens with serious extension. Badass. 😳

The Velo tech is super old school. It was great 20 years ago though.

Id love a 24" like this!
@JilesMcCoy me too!! Or a 32 inch!! I have a 32 inch clarion I need to rebuild but I can not find a cone for it anywhere!!!! 😫
Can you please make a 12", 15" 18" and a massive 24". I bet the cost would be equal to some high power SQ or SPL woofers.
I agree!
Finally a video explaining in detail everything I wanted to know about the brand and the speaker. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad it was helpful!

I cant wait to try one out at home!
I might check this out for a future purchase. 👍
Let me know if you do!
Is there any news about international shipping I am from Germany
Ill ask.

Its super awesome!
I gotta get my hands on one of these and check it out.
Me too. Its bad ass.
@@JilesMcCoy Agreed
Impressive!
I agree
How would this compare to a devialet mania? I have one and love how small it is and still have great bass response.
I like this better... but D makes super good equipment.
@ yeah been watching vids on it. May have to pick one up.
Do they sell the drivers alone
No
Certainly not the only portable speaker that can have subwoofer frequencies. Just off the top of my head the Hyperboom plays down to 45hz I believe.
We are talking mid 20s here.

@@LikelyLaggingwell… no. 45 hz isn’t. It’s bass frequency, but not sub frequencies (typically below 40 hz). It dips lower than my 10” subwoofer.
@ well… yes… do your homework better. Audible sub bass frequency range is 20hz to 60hz

Devialet speakers were producing portable "subwoofer" speakers long before...
They make good stuff... but this tech is really good. Try it out.
The mania cannot compare. If you’re referring to their compact phantom, that requires an outlet. That’s not the same, and at a much higher price too.

Love that song!
awesome speaker but what happens if the air pump fails?
Its broken then.

It is a portable speaker...
499. Most people can't afford good job😢 You might as well go on parts Express and make your own. 1/3 price 😮
They don’t have the parts to make this.
An Epique 7" and dsp board with a good cabinet design could match this in all likelihood.
@@MilGrip76 Nope, you have to hear this.
1:45 skullcandy barrel??
