Well done! Even a small amount of extra influence could have tipped the decision in your favor. For what it’s worth, here in the States we have a no-cost option for the manual… and the configurator automatically checks it when you start your build. 😈
Hats off to you guys for making a video about a car with very limited options into a video this length. It doesn't say much about BMW for asking so much £ for a car that is so limited on what a person can personalise on their car. People do buy a car on looks not just speed, it will be intersting so how much this design impacts sales on the M2 i actually thought it looked better in Joes first drive when it was multi colored, atleast it looked like it had personality😉
I agree everything is getting more expensive due to supply and demand. But if people just let BMW/other brands sit on their cars and stopped buying for 6-9 months the offers would return very quickly and prices would drop considerably.
Imola red would have been a no brainer… i like the grey and black. Two tone wheels every time. I hope the screens don’t scratch like the cluster in the F87.
All paint has to work on plastic as well? Seriously, you’re telling me they couldn’t run certain colours because of plastics? It’s not 1977, we know they can make paint work on plastic. This guy is stunned.

No no no not max, i used to race karts when Lewis was 8 years old, he was in junior cadets and i was in senior TKM, i used to help his dad and watch Lewis, even at 8 years old he was amazing, and he never over spent to win 😜, my bmw track day was amazing thank you listers bmw boston, as a track day car m2 all day but as a everyday car my 340i tourer and maybe one day M3 tourer, still down in Cornwall where Tony went in the summer our second home, just to let you know had a 335d tourer last year and changed for my new 340i tourer, car loaded the same with 4 adults in to come to our second home my 340i tourer did more miles to gallon done here, but not running around here, so in my eyes petrol is the way to go 😊

I get what he's saying about the prices are going up. But people that would normally buy an M2 wages are not going up, just look at the news on tv. New car sales have slumped and its not just because they are taking longer to make, it's because people in the uk can't afford the mad price car companies are charging.
The rear taillights are horrible and I can’t imagine they will ever look better…. They need to fill more of the rear section and be pushed to the corners.
Sure it will be excellent to drive and be able to remap for silly performance, however looks like something Lego designed then built in a hurry in a Chinese sweatshop.
I remember when the first m2 came out I was straight to my local dealer to put a order in. (Alpine white manual) I’ve had that 6 years now and been waiting patiently for the new G87. New one just ain’t doing it for me, maybe the lci or competition that comes in a few years will.
I am happy for you Joe, I wanted this version of the M2 to be amazing so I could switch my current one. Unfortunately, I am so disappointed with the design that I will not. Tried to talk me into liking it, but it is in my hunble opinion the worst looking BMW ever made and I am not sure I would drive one if BMW would cut my lease on my current one and pay me to do so.
Gutted about the race track pack tbh. I could maybe stretch to the 6.4k but knowing half of that is for stuff I dont want completely turns me off. Especially as you’d have to through the faff of taking off cup 2s, selling them, and buying/installing PS4S. Just a shame really.
I had issues with certain design elements of the 240, before I saw the M2. Damn, they blew it. They kept a reasonably sized grille, and fshesd everything else up.
Hey Joe, am interested in the latest car, currently have a dct comp. However, due to the weight of the new car am thinking that it won’t be any much better performance wise than the comp, you have driven the prototype so your view on this would be appreciated. Like the looks of the new car though.
@@ApexCypher_ have, am in Australia so closest porche is a cayman 2 litre which is $3,000 more and don’t think it will be as hardcore fun as the M2 certainly a 911s 2014 model wasn’t. Love a current 911s but see how the stock markets go in the future lol. In Australia a used 911s 2014 sells for up to $200,000 !! Currently.
Man I wish the track pack was that price in the US (~7600 usd). It's $9.9k here and I dont even want anything other than the seats because of the merino leather. If I could just get the standard seats with merino leather for a couple thousand it would be perfect. Dont care about all the carbon and dont want the crazy bucket seats :(
Also changed my order already from the sport seats to buckets in Germany. They just have to be in there..esp. as Recaro is not able to deliver Podiums currently.
I can't get over how stupid it looks. Some of the other cars are ugly or at least have ugly elements, this car doesn't just look "ugly" it looks "stupid". And that's way worse. The grille surrounds look like a piece of trim is missing like it got torn off and the driver hasn't replaced it yet. Overall it's just a stupid looking car. These people are sabotaging the brand. The engineers are still doing amazing work but whoever is pushing this new exterior design approach needs to be fired.
I ran a configuration earlier in the week and the quoted 9.9% APR for a PCP makes it more expensive than an M4 with BMW and dealer contributions. Nice car but a tough sell at those rates.

The Audi RS4 I ordered in December 2021 arrives in a few weeks. The Audi PCP rate I got when I ordered it, 2.9%. If I ordered the same car now, the rate has trebled and the cost of the car has gone up 6%. I wonder how many people are backing off ordering new cars, given how much more it costs and the squeeze on incomes from rising energy costs.
9900 for Seats, Wheels, Carbon roof, carbon trim, M Drivers package etc. Seats will be a 4-4500 option individually once available. However adding the Carbon package bumps start of production until mid March of 2023 (nearly 5 months extra). I went with non carbon seats and will swap in my Recaro Sportster CS's if the non carbons don't impress me.
It will definitely not be worth the premium lol is this what sales people are telling buyers?? Very few cars appreciate, even the cars people are paying markup for their resale is based on MSRP a dealer is going to get you coming and going mark up to buy and base the trade in on the blue book value. The whole dealer model is a scam honestly
Another interesting video guys. 👍🏻 The seat thing does seem to be a bit of a stitch up, should surely be able to order separately from the other stuff! Especially the cup 2 tyres, that’s crackers and almost useless for 9 + months of year on British roads! Also, if the manual only makes up 3 or 4 % of sales, the additional development costs for the manual could easily have been amortised over the 97% of autos, making little difference to the price but giving the consumer a no cost option and being non the wiser, with perceived better value for money!

I also have to disagree. It looks to much like Pontiac at the front. And the rear end, 4 pipes yes. Looks, not in my opinion. I don’t care for the looks of the new car at all. I wish I had kept my M2C. That was my 8th BMW and my 4th M car. I think I am done with BMW. That said, it you like it, all good 👍🏻. Everyone is absolutely entitled to like and get what they want.
Good job guys, especially given the lack of options. I get that the whole individual colour thing is not on the junior M-car, but 5 colours?…three being white, black and grey?!. Come on BMW, do better. Being built in Mexico (a hyper modern plant) is not a good enough reason.

One of the benefits of buying a car new is being able to configure it how you want, there is almost no configurability at all here

Looks muscular. The front end reminds me of a Dodge Nitro and the rear lights are just a bit of a mess.

BMW was considering building the new M2 in Russia, but finally went for Mexico as the Russian’s prototypes were losing their turrets upon impact.

Strangely the 1 and 2 series GC are available in individual colours now.
