When he sings homeward bound, my heart aches
Kevin is lead through the Underwotld by Virgil, as Dante was in the Divine Comedy.
pretty on the nose for me, but still a nice touch
That final moment of Season 2 was one of my favourite moments of the whole series. So heartfelt, everyone important to him was there, together.
Why don't you have more analysis videos of other shows or films? I am absolutely amazed by these videos. Please make more for everyone. You rule.
Thank you!
The Leftovers was the first series that compelled me to take such a deep dive, but these are the first videos I've ever made! After I finish Part 3 I will shift my focus to other series or films.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Dustin Edward Instablaster =)
@@KirbyYardley Hard to believe this was the first you had ever made! Crazy impressive!
Dang! I cannot believe I missed the symbolism of the cricket. Thanks for pointing it out. I just finished binge watching the series (took two days).
I didn't catch it until the second time around. Two-day binge? Holy cow, that's commitment!
I love you for this. To me, this is by far the best TV series I've ever seen. I loved it that much and I didn't even know all of the deeper meanings and symbolism of the writing. This makes me love the show even more! I really hope you continue to do these and even start studying Nora, Lori, and Matt. Also, John and his wife from season 2. God, this show has so many interesting characters!!!
I think you did know the deeper meanings and symbols. We just don't articulate them very much. The storey is so well written and addresses these themes so effectively that we can't help but feel resonance with the story.
Your analyses will be missed. Your videos were so enchanting.
Wow. This makes me want to watch the series again...again lol. I think I've already watched it 4 times. Grateful for this well done and thought out analysis!
I've never commented on a you tube video but dude, your video analysis in these three videos is incredible. This is the best show or movie analysis I've ever seen. Great work
Right? I wonder what happened to him? RUclips needs him!! Lol!
Great work again, this is awesome. Your analysis is really helping me deepen my understanding of Kevin and the show as a whole
Can't wait for part 3!!
Thank you so much! I had such a fun time creating this. I'm glad it's been enjoyable!
This is incredible! So happy I found this series. My mind is a little disorganised and struggles with communication sometimes, but I recognised and strongly felt the depth of this show and many of the themes you mention. It’s a gift to have these ideas presented so clearly, and to delve into archetypes and symbolism more broadly which has also interested me a lot. The show deserves to be honoured in this way, so beautifully. Thank you.
One point you made which I loved was Kevin pushing young Patty in the well and thus ridding himself of the image of victimhood 🤯 Thinking of the innocent child vulnerable to the world that exists in all people. The frightened child that can lie behind acts of evil. I’ve sat with this a lot in my own life over the last few years, struggling with strong victim mentality at times. Also, didn’t notice this before but at the end Nora is holding a candle. People hold candles 😭
Man these videos deserve more attention, this a great analysis! Amazing work, thank you
Brilliant. Thank you. People need to hear the significance. Brilliant and beautiful.
This video is sublime, I love you. Thank you for contributing with such an amazing content
I was waiting for this!!! Fantastic!
Ahh thank you!
That was a really amazing video, Amazing Job Kirby Yardley
I wish you could continue making these, i love them so much.
Such a well edited and informed video
Great analysis! Subscribed and can't wait to see part 3.
Thank you! I just uploaded Part Three, go check it out!
This show is so so so misunderstood and so underrated , it makes me just feel a deep sense of disappointment and loneliness knowing that most of the world, whilst so quick to jump on to anything else, largely ignored and continue to ignore this show. It’s a masterpiece. IMO.
Absolutely brilliant
Fantastic work here!
This is just a fantastic break down
Great work looking forward to part 3
I'm really excited to share Part Three. It's really coming together!
Great job brother
Your analysis is ridiculous and I love it so much! I would love to see you pick apart Westworld.
Amazing analysis
Thank you. You're making me rediscover my favorite tv series.
You're so welcome. It makes me happy to hear that. What an incredible show!
Me too...can't believe that I let the leftovers slip so far down my consciousness....
OMG HOW CAN I LIVE WITHOUT PART 3!?
Just hang on for a week or so. It's almost finished!
I think Joseph Campbell would say that you really get the Hero's Journey! Great analysis
Made it here after signing up for Apple Music, listening to the "Focus" playlist, one of the songs was the "The Departure", jogged an old memory of a great TV show I once watched, found this analysis, have better understanding, now ready to rewatch. Thanks Apple Music, thanks Focus playlist curator, thanks Max Richter, thanks RUclips, thanks Kirby Yardley, Thanks HBO.
Haha. I love it! It makes me so happy that people are stumbling upon this and getting something out of it.
I am curious did the rabbit hole stop here? Where or how is your life different since watching this? Did it cause your path to shift at all? or was it just a small respite?
Thanks, man. Amazing
You're welcome!
Ok, now I want to watch the part 3. 😁
wow.
cant wait for part 3
It's coming together! Can't wait to share it with you all!

The first note of that damn music. Hearing it in this video was like getting punched in some part of my grey matter.
thank so much for this video
Really Amazing!
And I thought about the name virgil too, as mentioned in dante's divine comedy, the famous poet who is dante's guide in hell when he travels to the other world.
Nice catch! The name rang a bell, but I couldn’t place it.
Excellent video
Thank you!
Thank You!
Amazing...!
Just finished the third season. I have no idea of why i ve never tried to watch this show before.
Great vídeos.
Super good! Season 2 is unbelievably rich with symbolism! Great job! Editing even better than before! I'm super hyped for part 3! I know its far down the line but I would love to see a Psychology of Nora as well! Just a suggestion! As I said before I'm willing to watch as many of these as you're willing to make! Or even videos of other shows as well! Every time I watch Season 2 I get something new out of it. Season 3 is still young in my mind so I'm sure there are lots of things I have missed/or could learn so I'm looking forward to it!
Thank you! I definitely want to make as many videos as I can, but I also don't want to give myself Leftovers fatigue. I'll have to see where I'm at after I finish Part 3. :)
That's cool. Other shows and movies would be neat too
Please, pleeeease, make more videos. These are incredibly well made! Tell me what I need to do so that you make more, and I'll do it. :D :D
I've already subscribed, liked, added all 4 of them to my favourites, and to one of my other other playlists, and I've hit the notification bell. I'm about to share all your videos in a few discussion groups on FB.
Whoah, tell me how people are even able something so deep and interesting ? How to write such a good story?
good job
Thanks!
brilliant
Jesus... your so underrated just like the show.
I'm impressed by your videos. There are a lot of symbols and deeper meanings that I've missed so far (watched the first two seasons the leftovers in about a week, will start the third one next week), but your work does an excellent job explaining the hidden layers.
I was wondering, will you do these kinds of videos on other tv series? If yes, which ones?
(My secret question being: could you analyze Mr. Robot?... haha)
Thank you! I'm glad these videos have helped you enjoy the show to a greater degree.
I will be definitely be continuing to make videos about film and television. The Leftovers really spoke to me, long before I ever had the notion that I'd make these videos. So it's hard to say what I'll cover in the future.
Now I’ve gotta back and watch the whole series. There’s way too much to take in in one sitting.
incredible. who knew the leftovers made sense?
Which season of The Leftovers do you think is best?
For me its Season 3, whilst I do believe that many will say Season 2, I would argue they are blinded by the nostalgic feeling that it provided as it was the first time The Leftovers started to reveal things. For me, Season 3 had the most cohesive story arc and the episodes were far greater individually.
Would love to know people's opinions though!
It's hard to pick a favorite for me. They're all so good! I'll have to get back to you have I finish Part Three.
Best series of television of all time.
This is two years late, but I have to write and agree with you because you captured my conflicted feelings exactly -- initially, I still valued Season 2 more, but over time I began to realize my fascination with 2 was moreso with the feeling of episodes like Most Powerful Adversary/International Assassination -- and being wrapped up in the euphoria of it all.
Funnily enough, I think that's something Season 3 tried to troll us all with: toying with the human craving of the outlandish and the climatic (or end). I got played and rightfully so. Season 2 may have been the most "entertaining" season of television, but I think Season 3 was more profound in poking and prodding at its subject matter (and its audience as well).
My favourite show ever. Not even close.
WHERE IS PART 3?!?! JK take your time. This series has been amazing so far and would like the quality to remain intact.
It's definitely coming together! I'm very excited to share. Probably a few weeks away though.
There is a scene that i don't understand in the first episode of the second season : when the 3 girls were running naked in a forest (ivy and her 2 friends), i just can't replace it in the show chronology :/
can someone help me ? :)
That was possibly the show telling us in advance that they hadn't departured, and were actually setting the whole thing up. That moment would have taken place after they leave the car with clothes and everything in it, setting the stage. I sometimes wonder if that scene was the right choice, but I have yet to find people talking about it in videos or comments
this is one of my favourite shows and I love your analysis of it. have you perchance seen twin peaks? I think you'd enjoy that too and I would love to hear you talk about it
Hope you do more vids
The song was supposed to be...LIKE A PRAYER BY MADONNA N ITS ON THE BOARD but she wouldn't give them the rights. I think this song was a better choice!
Girl really? 🥲
Can you please do an analysis of Matt? Nora’s brother
You fool. I'm trying to study but I just realized this is a three part video.
what is the background music used at around 3 mins in?
Prediction:
Show somewhat utilizes Jungian psycho analytics. In the second season does the fact that he comes back to life mean he may be reflective of sanctity in Christ?
He’s trying to “individualize” which the ideally individualized man is Christ as the logos, which is what creates order out of chaos and thus is able to transcend death itself.
Could be bogus but I felt that connection
This show hits different after the pandemic, where casually 2% of the population died
WhT happened to part 3?
It's coming soon!
Subtitles in spanish please please please !!!!
How dare you cut the video before Nora speaks the final line of s2.
